Step 3: Get Them To SPEND MORE MONEY Each Time They Come Back. And the third step is to get them to spend more money each time they come back. We've found that there are 6 reasons that restaurant owners suck at bringing back their existing customers more often... Reason #1 First of all, they don’t have an Iron clad system For customer data collection Collecting your customer's contact information and then marketing to them to bring them back to your restaurant is the smartest and most effective use of your marketing dollars because it is proven that every dollar invested on marketing to an existing customer will return 7 TIMES more profit than the same dollar spent on new customers. That's where the big money is. Reason #2 They don’t Communicate enough with their present customers in multiple ways Customers say they want to hear from the businesses they frequent at least every 21 days. Most people underestimate how much their customers want to hear from them. If you don't communicate with them, the biggest risk is that they will forget about you and your competition will lure them away. Reason #3 Restaurant owners don’t communicate enough with LOST customers in multiple ways. The easiest customer to get to come to your restaurant is the one you've already done business with. When customers stop coming in, with a little effort, many of these people can be persuaded to start coming back again. Failing to communicate with lost customers is a missed opportunity and a big hole in most restaurants' profit bucket. Reason #4 Restaurant owners don’t keep their lists clean. Once you start getting a bigger and bigger list you need to keep it clean so you're not mailing to people that have moved, and/or to duplicates in your database.
