BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA SAFET ZEC, painter and engraver-Bosnia and Herzegovina-Italy Safet Zec was born in Rogatica, Bosnia-Herzegovina, in 1943. After completing Art High School in Sarajevo, he continued his studies in Belgrade where he graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in 1969. In 1972 he obtained his postgraduate diploma. He went on to become an exponent of the recent art style known as “Poetic Realism”. Since 1992 he’s been in Italy and since 1998 he has his studio in Venice near San Francesco della Vigna’s church. Exhibitions in his country and all over Europe are many. Some of the most recent exhibitions: «Engraved Works» retrospective of drawings and engravings at the Villa Manin di Passariano (2013); «Masterpieces out of Time» important personal exhibition at the Rotonda di Via Besana in Milan (2012); «The Power of Painting» anthological exhibition at the Correr Museum in Venice (2010). Today he lives and works between Sarajevo, Pocitelj, Venice and Paris. His engraved work counts more than 250 plates. 152

SALIM LJUMA-Bosnia and Herzegovina FAMOUS ARTISTS AND WRITERS ABOUT SALIM LJUMA SLAVA BOŽIČEVIĆ-Croatia Prodigy Ambassador for Balkans, Slava Božičević, a writer from Rovinj (Rovigno) in Croatia, is presenting one of the ten best living artists of nowadays – a painter and sculptor Salim Ljuma. What makes him extraordinary is not just talent and brushstrokes: Today, when materialistic world and thinking are omnipresent, we are lucky to have among us such a great icon and creator.Salim Ljuma is an academic artist. He was born in 1961 in Kladanj. He has been a professional artist for already 35 years, and he has exhibited his paintings at numerous independent individual and common exhibitions, both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad. In some of his interviews about himself, among other things, he has said: „Art has been within me ever since I started feeling life with thoughts.“ Just as: ''My road is a path of purification, endeavour towards purity and minimalism. In my aspiration for spirituality, I forgot about materialism...“ 159

MILODAR TOMLJENOVIĆ, književnik,Croatia: Maestro Salim Ljuma, with his exceptional ability, manages to make the mysterious spirituality effective in the perception of the eye that in this constellation bursts with mysteries from the universe directly absorbed and tasted firstly by his soul and then by every soul that comes close to him through the harmonizing intuition; for, through the prism of action, he successfully turned his face’s multicolored physical light into his own soul’s white subtle outline and its divine content. He knows that the physical is the result of a spiritual Being’s manifestation, and that is why this self-portrait is not the portrait of the external being, but the testimony of the inner essence or the inner basis of the soul. Defining himself through spiritual illumination, he also announced the truth of every being, which is God or the Spirit as the creator and source of all beings. MEXICO OCTAVIO OCAMPO-Mexico Octavio Ocampo (born 28 February 1943 in Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico) is a Mexican surrealist painter. He grew up in a family of designers, and studied art from early childhood. At art school, Ocampo constructed papier mache figures for floats, altars, and ornaments that were used during carnival parades and other festivals. In high school, Ocampo painted murals for the Preparatory School and the City Hall of Celaya. Ruth Rivera, daughter of artist and muralist Diego Rivera, and Maria Luisa Mendoza encouraged him to attend the School of Painting and Sculpture of the National Fine Art Institute. The talents of Octavio Ocampo are not limited to painting and sculpture, but also extend to acting and dancing. At the Art Institute of San Francisco, he studied all these disciplines and pursued both a film and theater career. In 1976, he began to devote himself solely to painting and 170

sculpture. He now works primarily in the metamorphic style – using a technique of superimposing and juxtaposing realistic and figurative details within the images that he creates. Octavio Ocampo is one of Mexico's most prolific artists. Ocampo is known for several works in his sometimes wryly sardonic, sometimes evocative paintings in which detailed images are intricately woven together to create larger images – the optical illusion fading back and stepping forward as you study the pieces, notice the details, and finally recognize the large scale intention. This is what Octavio Ocampo terms his \"metamorphic\" style. The Visions Fine Art Gallery in Sedona, Arizona represents Octavio Ocampo in the United States. Several collections in Mexico contain his work, and individual works of his have been commissioned for among others former President Jimmy Carter (commissioned as a gift from the then President of Mexico José López Portillo it was presented from the United Mexican States), Jane Fonda, Cher (for the front and back covers of her Heart of Stone album), and César Chávez. Octavio is a feature-length documentary film examining Ocampo's influences and metamorphic painting technique. The film is directed by José Antonio Torres, who was also responsible for the film De Eros & Danza. 171

GREECE WERNER EDW HERMANN-Greece He was born in Germany. He came to Greece in 1959. After graduating from the German School of Athens (DSA) he continued his studies in Vienna and Linz, Austria. He learned the piano and five languages. He lives in Glyfada, Attica. WORK: From 1980 until today he is the president of the international transport company \"INTERCONTOR HELLAS AE\" and the vice president of the storage company \"SPACEHERO AE\". Social activities: He is vice-president of the \"LANASSA Association of Artists in favor of cancer patients and other patients in Greece and Cyprus\" He is a member of the Cultural Associations of \"Leptiniotiki Rouga\" and of “Ypateia” (poets and writers) Founding member of the Rotary club of Glyfada. Artistic activities: Painting: He always liked painting. At some point he wanted to create visual works and began to paint with passion and great productivity, presenting his own inspirations in various individual and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. He likes the colorful linear style with an orphan cubist trend in full swing. Art critics of Vienna classify him in the Orphatism of Robert Delauney with influences of Wassily Kandisnky. Its purpose is the geometric deconstruction of cubism while preserving elements of representational art.
