SETUP4METER APP 2. Device configuration 1. Configuration S4M allows a rather complete configuration experience of the M4M range, guiding users step by step from basic to advanced configuration setups. The configuration process can be customized according to the needs of different users. When you successfully executed the pairing session, S4M will automatically suggest 5 configuration op- tions. Each configuration option is precisely designed to be a key tool for specific use cases: 1. Configuration wizard: a carefully developed user path for the complete configuration of the device of choice. This is the recommended pick for first time users to explore all M4M functionalities. Configuration wizard will overwrite all the existing M4M settings, and therefore the writing phase will take several minutes. 2. Custom wizard: a user-tailored configuration process that is 100% customizable. User chooses what the wizard path should include. Custom wizard will only overwrite a selected set of settings on the M4M, and therefore configuration could be much faster. 3. Existing template: use one of your S4M configuration templates to configure the device. You can cre- ate or import templates ahead of time, to make configuration on site easier and faster. For further information on Templates, go to the Template dedicated section at Chapter 2.2. 4. Download from device: S4M will download the configuration settings currently written on the device memory. This is recommended in case you are working with a meter which configuration is already on point or needs minor modifications. You will be able to review current settings and perform edits later, on the Device page. 5. XML file: use an XML configuration file on your smartphone local memory and upload the setup to your meter. This is the best suited choice in case you need to upload an XML configuration prepared beforehand or shared by a colleague who is also working with S4M. Please note that if you choose the configuration and custom wizards, once the setup is complete, you will have the choice of uploading the configuration right away (“Write”) or save it for later (“Save”). Sav- ing is recommended if you want to prepare configurations ahead of time and apply them to devices later onsite. If you decide to save the configuration for later, you will need to perform the following activities for the configurations changes to become active: 1. On the “Device” tab, click on your M4M of choice 2. Click on the Plus menu icon and select “Upload configuration” S4M will start the configuration upload. This process may take up to several minutes. ! Troubleshooting with configuration • Is M4M FW version up to date? To perform configurations with S4M, M4M firmware version must be 2.6.14 or higher. To update the M4M firmware, you can follow the instructions of the M4M firm- ware update guide. 2022-10-17 8/14

SETUP4METER APP 2. Templates Configuration templates are a key function of S4M app. Template creation and sharing will cut the amount of repetitive work down to zero for you and the team. You can create templates or import tem- plates from colleagues ahead of time to apply them later on site. This chapter is focused on how to create and apply template to devices. To create a new template, you can follow two ways, create it from scratch or export it from an already configured device. In order to create it from scratch: 1. On S4M homepage, tap on Templates to open the dedicated tab 2. Select New template on the black control bar 3. A wizard that guides you through the setup of the most basic template characteristics (name, type and configuration mode) will start. Please note that type is a key feature of the template. A configuration template can only be applied to a Device of the same type (e.g., a template of M4M 30 I/O can only be applied to M4M 30 I/O Device type). We suggest checking that your template is suitable to your device of choice. Configuration mode will determine the source of the template configuration. You can configure tem- plates ex novo or import configuration from a device or an XML file on your local memory. In order to create a template using an existing configuration you should use the Export configuration to Template function: 1. On the Device page, click on the Plus menu icon 2. Select the Export option 3. Select Export configuration to Template: the device configuration will be replicated in the form of a Template stored on the Template tab. This is ideal to store a configuration setup to be replicated within and across multiple sites. Once you completed the wizard, the template will be saved in your local S4M memory for you to apply on devices. This activity can be performed following two different user paths: • Configure device with template: on the Device tab, select the Device and go to the Device page. From the ’+’ Menu, go to Configure < Use template and select the desired template. • Apply template to nearby devices: tap the Template tab, go to the Template page. From the ‘+’ Menu, select “Apply to nearby device” ! Troubleshooting with templates • A configuration template can only be applied to a Device of the same type (e.g., a template of M4M 30 I/O can only be applied to M4M 30 I/O Device type). We suggest checking that your tem- plate is suitable to your device of choice. 2022-10-17 9/14

SETUP4METER APP 3. Energy monitoring 1. Device data readings Reading of energy measurement are performed quickly with S4M: 1. On the device tab, select a device. If the device icon is transparent, communication with the device has not been established. Firstly, check if the M4M Bluetooth is active. When the Bluetooth communication is enabled, the BLE communication symbol appears on the M4M top bar. If M4M Bluetooth is active go to step 2. If M4M Bluetooth is inactive, activate it by going to Configuration > Communication > Bluetooth > Enable/Disable and selecting Enable. 2. Last sync is indicated on the device card. To update measurement readings, tap the icon on the top bar. 3. If you want to check real-time measurements, turn on the Auto-refresh mode on the Device page. 4. Scroll down to navigate all M4M 100+ measurements clearly sorted by different categories. 2. System data readings S4M allows users to read cumulative energy measurements of multiple M4M at the same time. To perform system data reading, firstly you will need to create a system: on the Device tab, click the New system button on the black control bar and follow the wizard. Once the System is created and filled in with Devices, you can click the Energy readings icon to show cumulative System energy data readings. Click on the Tariffs button to show the amount recorded in cumulative registers for all devices in the system. Turn your phone horizontally for the optimized page view. Differently from the Device page, System data readings will only show count energy related data. Real- time measurements and other KPIs won’t be shown. Please note that data availability will vary accordingly to the devices in the system, following the product version and configuration of choice. For example, since M4M 30 and 20 differ in terms functionalities, only M4M 30 is able to produce system readings on tariffs and energy conversion. Therefore, in a system with both M4M 30 and 20, tariffs and energy conversion data will only take account of M4M 30 measure- ments and calculations. 2022-10-17 10/14
