DW SEBUDISI MAFABATHO s ebudisi Mafabatho, who founded She-Eco Roof Tiles, won the Award for Best Business Creation Project at the 2022 TotalEnergies Startupper of the Year Challenge. The company produces tiles that are made from 30% plastic waste. The tiles have an approximate 100-year lifespan, don’t corrode, are lightweight and can be painted. According to her winner profile on the TotalEnergies website, for every roof tile She-Eco Roof Tiles produces, they remove an average of 4 2litre waste bottles from the environment. DW LISA VON BENECKE l isa Von Benecke is one of three young entrepreneurs who were crowned winners of the 2022 installment of the TotalEnergies Startupper of the Year Challenge. She won the Award for Best Female Entrepreneur on the day. The emerging innovator is the founder and CEO of LC Dynamics. According to their website, LC Dynamics is a clean-tech company working to improve access to renewable energy in South Africa and beyond through data-driven systems and novel technology product offerings. The company is developing smart Solar PV window blinds which replace venetian blind slats with solar PV cells, allowing them to generate electricity.
