LADY IRWIN COLLEGE Lady Irwin College is a constituent college for women, in University of Delhi, under the memorandum of Association of The Lady Irwin College Society vide Regd. Society Registration Act 1860 (Punjab Amdmt.) 1957 Registration No.4163 1969-70) & maintained by the Governing Body & UGC Grants.Lady Irwin College is a premiere institution affiliated to University of Delhi for undergraduate and postgraduate education in Home Science institution affiliated university of delhi. It also supports doctoral programs in five areas of Home Science. Other programmes are two year B.Ed. (for students of Home Science), B.Ed Special Education(MR)(For students from all streams) and one year Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics & Public Health Nutrition. 1

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION It aims for holistic development of women students, and their capacity building through carefully designed academic programmes and extramural activities. The Lady Irwin College aphorism is VIDYA HI SEWA. The teaching learning transactions true to the motto Endeavour to inculcate a sense of knowledge to serve through carefully designed outreach experiences. The College has always provided headship to other institutions in the nation in teaching, research and extension in Home Science, both at central universities and Home Science colleges with agricultural institutions. Lady Irwin College has celebrated 83 years in 2015.The education in this college aims towards capacity building for entrepreneurship, improved quality of life and overall development of the students. It is a nodal and template institution for Home Science education in the country. 2

The academic disciplines in the college are artistic, creative, culturally rooted and contemporary. The programmes are scientifically planned which include education in textile technology, food processing, metabolism, environment, sustainable technologies, food safety, health and disease and human development. The focus of college is to have holistic education for the all round development of the students. High standard of education is maintained in pedagogical strategies and course structuring by the faculty members. The curriculum is internationally competitive. The college hopes to improve the talent and nurture creativity among its students for playing positive role in the society. 3

UG ADMISSIONS: Step I: Registration on the UG portal: The applicant uses the university UG Admissions portal to create their personal username and password, fill in their registration form, choose their courses of interest, and upload the required documents. The applicants must exercise extreme care in filling up their form. Much of the information entered by the applicants into the form will not be possible to edit and correct after submission of the form. 1. All the candidates seeking admission to the Undergraduate (UG) courses are required to register online. 2. Any first-time user, in order to access UG Admission Portal, needs to register on the portal with a valid e-mail ID. 3. Applicants who do not have a valid email ID must create an e-mail ID before proceeding. 4. The applicant needs to keep this e-mail ID handy because it will be required to access his / her account on the portal as well as for all the future correspondence throughout the admission process 5. The default settings allow all applicants to register for all courses (without any penalties). 6. The applicants will be eligible to take admission in all the colleges and courses provided they satisfy the cut-off of the colleges and the eligibility for the selected courses. 7. If applicants have examination results pending or have reappeared in papers, they will be able to update these marks by logging into their Dashboards till the last date of admissions in the University. 8. Utmost care must be exercised in uploading the documents. Applicants will need scanned copies of the certificates on the basis of which they wish to claim admission (a) Class X certificate (b) Class XII certificate (c) Relevant reservation certificate issued by competent authority (d) Self attested copies of requisite certificates for admission under sports/ ECA category 5

(e) Link of the uploaded clip for admission against music (f) Photo identity card (Aadhar Card, Driving License, PAN Card, Voter Identity Card, Passport or School Identity Card) 9. Applicants will be responsible for all information they upload, including copies of certificates. They will also be responsible for the quality and authenticity of the files they upload. The applicants will be able to see the preview of their form and the uploaded documents. The applicants are advised to take all care to avoid rejection on this basis during the admission process. Step II: Payment of the registration fees: The application form will be deemed submitted only when the applicant has paid the relevant registration fee. This fee must be paid only through the link provided through the applicant’s Dashboard. There is no method available to applicants other than this online link generated for payment of the registration fee. When the applicant has successfully submitted the registration fee online, they are advised to keep records of the payment’s transaction ID, Credit Card/ Debit card/ Net banking details and date of transaction as proof for future reference. Further, the applicants are advised to complete the process well before the deadline in order to avoid any last-minute glitches. Step III: Reopening of the portal: The application will be allowed to update the marks and make minor corrections in the form during this window provided to them. This will only be a one-time process. Step IV: Declaration of Cut-off: The University shall declare a minimum of five Cut-Offs. In case, there are still some vacant seats left, further Cut-Offs may be announced by the University. If needed, the University may also conduct a special drive in order to fill vacant seats against reserved category. In case of vacant seats left after the first five Cut-Offs, there will be a special Cut-Off only for those candidates who could not/ did not take admission in the initial five Cut-Offs for whatsoever reasons. 6

FEES DETAILS: ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: B.Sc. (Pass) Home Science: 50% marks in aggregate in English and three papers from Science, Home Science, Commerce or Social Science streams (Refer to List B in DU Admission bulletin). Fine Art, Commercial Art, Music, Dance, Physical Education will not be considered. One vocational subject can be considered after prorata calculation and deductions as per DU guidelines. B.Sc. (Hons) Home Science: It is essential to have cleared English 50% marks in aggregate of any three of the following subjects (at least one subject should be from group A). Group A: 1. Physics 2. Chemistry 3. Biology/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry Group B: Subjects from List B given in DU UG Admission Bulletin -2020 B.Sc. (Hons) Food Technology: (a) 50% or more marks in English. (b) An aggregate of 55% or more marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ BioChem/ BioTech/ Mathematics. (c) An advantage of 3% in aggregate for applicants passing with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology/ BioChem/ BioTech. The aggregate of best of PCM or PCB/Bt/BCh, whichever is higher will be calculated and a relaxation of 3% will be given to check the eligibility under a particular cutoff. 7
