The apeejay chronicles The Official Newsletter of Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar Special Edition TALK SHOW – THE EXPRESS BUFFET To strengthen the verbal skills and to foster public speaking competency in young minds, Apeejay school, Model Town organised a Talk Show – The Express Buffet on 5 Dec, 2020 for the classes I – III. The students were geared up and looking forward for the activity to express themselves. An opportunity was given to them to express their views on the topic , ‘ If I had the power to change something’, ‘If there were no colours’, ‘ If I could fly for a day’, ‘ The Chocolate Factory’, ‘If I get a chance to go to Moon’ etc. It enabled them to improve their descriptive skills by communicating their thoughts and emotions with words. Creative props were used by the students which added to the beauty of scenario. It was an interesting and a thrilling experience for the students sharing their views with peer and teachers. We could see the power of spoken words, as these Talks make them feel more confident and valued. The Principal of school, Mrs. Sinia Sajith motivated the students to become confident and expressive while presenting their topic. The Headmistress Mrs. Namrata Sharma appreciated the efforts put by the students.

PUNJABI VIRSA - A GLIMPSE OF PUNJABI CULTURE Apeejay school, Model Town organised an interactive session ‘Punjabi Virsa’ on 9 Dec, 2020 for the students with Ms. Sivenjeet Kaur, a renowned giddha artist. The event was well coordinated by the teachers Mrs. Maninder Kaur and Mrs. Rajinder Kaur. The spokesperson shared a Ppt and revealed many aspects of culture of Punjab that Punjab is a land of five rivers, five Takht of Punjab, Main Regions of Punjab, Foods of Punjab, Folk songs and Folk dances, Old Musical Instruments and Clothes of punjabi ‘ghabru’and ‘mutiar’during old times. The necessity of awareness of Punjabi culture by the young generation was stressed upon. Many movements of Giddha were demonstrated and the students also performed with her. The melodious ‘ghorhian’, ‘suhag’ and ‘ boliyan’ were chanted. The spark of folk dance giddha was ignited well by her in the young minds. The energetic and active students enjoyed each and every move of giddha , all were dressed in colourful traditional punjabi attire. It was an attempt to bring young minds closer to their roots and rich cultural heritage of Punjab. The Principal of school, Mrs. Sinia Sajith and The Headmistress, Mrs. Namrata Sharma expressed their gratitude to the guest of the day for sparing her valuable time and imparting knowledge about folk dance giddha that reflects the true spirit of Punjab. KITCHENETTE ACTIVITY Eating habits evolve during the early School years. Children learn what when and how much to eat through direct experiences with food. They also learn to eat while in company of peers.Through Breakfast time with teachers and friends,our students learn about healthy food preferences, food acceptance and regulated dietry intake.

HEALTHY MIND, BODY AND SOUL WORKSHOP Apeejay school, Model Town organised a workshop based on Healthy mind, Body and Soul on 12 Dec,2020 with renowned doctors Dr. Navneet Kaur Dang, Dr. Pankaj Chawla and Dietician Vaishali Bharara. The doctors imparted knowledge about some viruses, fungi, microbes and protozoa and modes of their transmission. The students were motivated to eat nutritious food , exercise daily and follow the routine of sleeping and waking on time, wear a mask, use hand sanitizer to improve immunity of the body. Some Do’s and Don’t to stop the spread of virus were also discussed. Some guidelines were provided to the students to avoid sugary food and aerated drinks that help to maintain oral hygiene. Food pyramid was explained and virtual masks were presented to the students. The students also asked some questions to acquire knowledge about health and hygiene. At the end the doctors gave a watchword ‘Stay home, Stay healthy’. The Principal of school, Mrs. Sinia Sajith and The Headmistress , Mrs. Namrata Sharma expressed their gratitude to the .distinguished guests for sparing their precious time and sharing such a valuable knowledge with the students WORKSHOP ON BHANGRA DANCE Apeejay school, Model Town organised a Workshop on Bhangra a folk dance of Punjab on 19 Dec,2020 with S. Bhupinder Singh , a renowned Bhangra expert. The folk dances of Punjab are the clear depiction of the energy and enthusiasm of the lively youth of Punjab. The event was well coordinated by Mrs. Maninder Kaur and Mrs. Rajinder Kaur. The spokesperson interacted with each and every student and apprised them of traditional forms of Bhangra such as Ludi, Jhoomar and Sammi etc. along with props and instruments used in Bhangra. He also emphasised to maintain true essence of Bhangra is the need of hour. He further added that Bhangra was associated primarily with the spring harvest festival Baisakhi. The Bhangra coach demonstrated many steps accompanied by Master Kulraaj gave much delight to the audience. All the students were dressed in colourful Bhangra outfits and danced on the beat of ‘dhol’ and many punjabi numbers that made the entire event lively and thrilling. It was a treat to watch children performing Bhangra. The Principal of school, Mrs. Sinia Sajith and The Headmistress, Mrs. Namrata Sharma expressed their gratitude to the guest of the day for sparing his valuable time and enlightening students about rich cultural heritage of Punjab.

SPORTS WEEK CLASS I-III ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKES JACK A DULL BOY Apeejay school, Model Town organised a virtual Sports Week from 14 Dec,2020 to 18 Dec, 2020 for the classes I- III. All the students participated with zest in Jumping Jack, Step Up, Stretching Exercise and Getting Ready For School. Despite staying at home the students performed the activity of ‘ Getting ready for school’ with a true spirit. The competition aimed to encourage students to inculcate physical activity and sports in their lives. The students performed all the activities that help to increase strength, fitness and flexibility of the body. The main objective of the sports week was to endeavour to alter the behaviour from passive screen time to active field time. It will also instill in students the understanding of regular physical activity. The Best Sports Champions were selected and and also awarded with the certificates.The Principal of school, Mrs. Sinia Sajith and The Headmistress, Mrs. Namrata Sharma encouraged the students to follow these set of exercises daily to achieve a fit and healthy body.

SPORTS WEEK CLASS IV-VI If the body is fit, the mind is a hit Apeejay school, Model Town organised virtual Sports week from 14 Dec,2020 to 18 Dec,2020 for the classes IV- VI. The students participated with great fervour in Skipping, Basketball dribbling , Push up , Cartwheel flip and Squats. The students put on a spectacular display of courage , skill and brilliance while performing each sport, Sports meet also aimed at developing stamina and physical prowess amongst students. This meet filled everyone with joy and energy. All the students displayed their commendable vigour. The Best Sports Champions were selected and also awarded with the certificates. The students also pledged to encourage their family members and neighbours to be physically fit and make India a fit nation. The Principal of school, Mrs. Sinia Sajith advised the students to keep up their sportsman spirit. The Headmistress, Mrs. Namrata Sharma encouraged the students to inculcate physical activity and sports in their daily life.

CODING COMPETITION Coding is about much more than teaching technology. It incorporates logic, problem-solving, and creativity in an engaging way for children of all ages. The non-cognitive skills that children develop through coding lessons are even more beneficial to young learners than the technical skills they acquire. Coding involves writing computer programs using programming languages that can range from visual drag and drop languages to text-based languages like Java or Python. Kids coding is usually taught using content that is both educational and entertaining. learning programming empowers kids. Coding puts children in control of the computer and through experimentation builds mastery in sequencing skills, counting, problem solving, logical thinking, cause and effect, and critical thinking. Children are extremely eager to learn how to code. Coding competition saw immense enthusiasm among the students and they came up with creative presentations. INTER SCHOOL ONLINE TAPPING TOES COMPETITION ‘ Dancing is creating a sculpture that is visible only for a moment’ The students of Apeejay school, Model Town participated in an Inter school Online ‘Tapping Toes’ competition organised by Apeejay International school, Greater Noida. The students participated with zest in their solo dance performance. The theme of the competition was patriotism. The participants dressed in colourful costumes , twirled around and set the stage on fire with their thrilling performance. Each performance was filled with patriotic fervour. All the participants were very energetic and performed their dance forms enthusiastically. The choreography , rhythm , synchronization and presentation of all the students were good. Our students brought laurels to the school by winning positions in the competition. The Principal of school, Mrs. Sinia Sajith congratulated the winners and appreciated the performance of the students. The Headmistress, Mrs Namrata Sharma encouraged the students to participate more in such competitions to enhance their talent.

CLASS SHOWS 2020 The most important reason to teach with creativity is one that is rarely assessed but is key to a child's educational success: they'll love school. Making things is joyful. Learning a new skill, collaborating and creating something meaningful is satisfying, happy work. Creativity is a cluster of skills that are needed to produce ideas that are both original and valuable , and Teaching Creatively has been defined as 'teachers using imaginative approaches to make learning more interesting, exciting and effective’. Being creative helps you become a better problem solver in all areas of your life and work. ... Creativity helps you see things differently and better deal with uncertainty. Studies show that creative people are better able to live with uncertainty because they can adapt their thinking to allow for the flow of the unknown. Creative teachers deliberately spark interest, curiosity, and real-world application of knowledge through collaborating with students. Class Shows were organized by all the classes to develop explore and enhance creative abilities of the students.

The expression is creative and thought provoking. ABRACADABRA- THE KNOWLEDGE FAIR Creating magic with words, the students of the School once again proving their wit and intelligence in the quiz. By taking quizzes, students self-predict their knowledge and chart down their growth path. They become more confident about what they know and what they need to know. Not only are quizzes fun for students, they are also a sneaky form of learning as they don't feel like a traditional activity. Quizzes can help your students practise existing knowledge while stimulating interest in learning about new subject matter.

SHINE BRIGHT….. Our Diamonds In The Sky. The students of Apeejay School Model Town blazed their way to become District Champions in Badminton. The Principal Ms.Sinia Sajith, the staff and the students congratulate the budding sports stars on their stupendous achievement. Saanvi Ralhan (U-11 Girls Singles and Doubles Champion)(U-13 Doubles champion) Manya Ratti ( U-11 Girls Runners Up ) Viraj Sharma (Boys U-11 Champion) . SPEAKING ACTIVITIES Speaking skill is considered to be the most important skill by language learners. ... Since many learners' goal in language learning is to be able to communicate fluently in formal and informal interaction, classroom activities should be designed to promote oral fluency. Talk becomes critical when students discuss tasks or ideas and question one another, negotiate meaning, clarify their own understanding, and make their ideas comprehensible to their partners. It is during collaborative tasks that students must use academic language if they are to focus on the content. It allows us to form connections, influence decisions, and motivate change. Without communication skills, the ability to progress in the working world and in life, itself, would be nearly impossible. Public speaking is one of the most important and most dreaded forms of communication. Special speaking activities for English, Hindi and Punjabi are organized from time to time in the school, to enable the students develop confidence and love for the language,

ANNUAL APPRECIATION DAY RESILIENCE 2.0 Apeejay School Model Town Jalandhar celebrated is Annual appreciation day- Resilience 2.0 virtually. The chief guest on the occasion was Mr Jagdish Raja Mayor Jalandhar. The guest of honour was Mr Digvijay Chaudhary IRS Assistant commissioner. Mr Aditya Berlia co-promoter APJ Stya and Svran group presided over the function. In his address, Mr. Berlia expressed his gratitude towards the parents for investing their trust and faith in the School. The event was dedicated to the resilient soul of mankind which has sailed through the pandemic and is looking forward to a new beginning. The event had many mesmerizing performances. All the cultural items were prepared using an intelligent mix of digital videography. Ashtapadi- a classical dance , Diamonds in the sky and Seeds of happiness -a play by Rhythms kindergarten, all presentations were engaging. The highlight of the event was a play 'Where Eagles Dare' dedicated to the armed forces. The Principal Ms. SiniaSajith, in her annual report laid forth the immense efforts that the school is putting in, to provide education to the students. She informed that the School would soon be affiliated by CBSE. The documentary-Punjabi Virsa showcased the culture and heritage of Punjab. The headmistress Ms. Namrata Sharma proposed the vote of thanks. The event concluded with the national anthem.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS The students of Apeejay School, Model Town, celebrated Republic Day by expressing their emotions in myriad ways. Devotion and love towards our nation embody the true spirit of patriotism. It involves the sense of responsibility towards our country, as its citizens help it grow. A nation belongs to not just one person, but all, and we must work towards community good. Patriotism inculcates the feeling of pride and respecting the values of our nation. During the drive through event, the students came up with patriotic songs, poems and performances that reverberated their love for the country.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS With the tricolour flying high and patriotic fervor overflowing, the students of Apeejay School Model Town participated in a Drive Through the School event with enthusiasm. After almost a year, the campus resonated with happy and cheerful voices of the students, as they drove in with their Parents. CYCLOTHON To celebrate the 72nd Republic Day of India, the weather God cleared the blue sky and the Sun shone it's brightest shine on the young Cycle enthusiasts of Apeejay School Model Town, as they participated in a 7 to 14 km cyclothon and reached the school to touch the finish line. The Principal Ms.Sinia Sajith, welcomed the early birds and gave away the prizes. The cyclothon conducted as part of the fit Apeejay event, garnered huge enthusiasm and support from the parents and the students.
