Football Season Our Year in Review Before football season is our infamous summer camps High school IDA and Stardom. At this time both the returning and new members finally got to bond and create year long relationships. After Stardom I really felt the beginnings of a strong and connected team ready to begin the year with a bang. Speaking of Bang, we performed for the first time this season at our rally at the ridge. This was also the first time performing our cadence (also known as our entrance) with the band. I remember feeling on top of the world as I performed alongside my team for the first time. Continuing into the football season we perfected our stand routines and all five of our football routines. This past fall was the very first time Star Steppers had ever performed a streamer jazz and a prop kick. We also decided for our 20th year anniversary to bring back an older traditional routine entitled, \"Western Trail.” Football season will forever be dear to my heart, especially our in-and-out runs after each game. In a flash of an eye football season was over and the changing season began to transition us into preparing for our Holiday spectacular. Holiday Season Once we started learning our Holiday routines and switching gears it became obvious how little we pause to take a break. However, the Holidays are one of my favorites as a Star Stepper because of the way we celebrate. Not only have we been working on one of my favorite routines, Jingle Belles but also our company routines as well. This year I challenged myself to a hip hop routine with my company and it was very difficult at first but I was so happy with how it turned out and how good we looked dancing together. Getting to watch all of the other companies is always such a treat and makes our holiday show so special. As Holiday break approached, we began auditioning our Contest routines. Before we leave for winter break we celebrate the season with an in-studio Christmas party with a sister gift exchange. We all gather around and watch as each sister pair opens the other ones gifts, the popular gift item this year was by far candy and Squishmellows. One of Star Steppers longest traditions and one of my personal favorite activities is our annual progressive dinner. We started with homemade pizzas and side salads at the Strempels then we headed to my own home for desserts and our rowdy game of white elephant. Chisholm is our Christmas tree that gets passed down from Star Stepper to Star Stepper every year. I was his owner forom the 2021-2022 season and he has found a new home with Bella Seitz.
Contest and Spring Show Season As The holiday season comes to an end and the new year begins we come back in full gear preparing for our Contests. All five of our dances are perfected and polished by one of our officers and the directors. This year we have contemporary, hip hop, Jazz, kick/pom and a collegiate style pom. All five are so different from one another and each highlights special skills our team possesses. This year we traveled to two competitions, the first in Belton Texas and the second at Mckinney High school located near Dallas Texas. Due to the distance between us and the Mckinney Contest we made not one but two stops at bucees to fuel us for the road. We got to Dallas Friday night and competed all Saturday to wake up Sunday morning and head home. Both of our contests were successes and made all of our hard work pay off. Now it was time for our own contest, VRDC. One of the most memorable days of the year, you can ask any current or star stepper alumni and they will have really hilarious stories from their VRDC experience. I feel so lucky to be a part of such a well put together and organized competition that always comes out with stellar reviews. Last but not least, we made a full circle back to our Spring show. Thus far we have added so many dances to our plate but each of the team members have done an amazing job with keeping up with all of them. I feel so lucky to have so many hard- working individuals around me that push me every day to be the best I can. This year has been so incredibly special to not only me but to so many who pour their time and energy into this organization. Being a part of the 20th team is such an honor and getting to bring back old songs from the past and recreate them into something new has been such a fun and exciting project. So many of our dances this year pay homage to the Star Steppers team that came before us, it truly does feel like we are celebrating our 20 years the right way. I am so excited to get to dance and perform with this team one last time. Thank you to everyone who put me here and believed in this organization, there truly is no other like it. I will never be able to repay to love shown to me by Mrs. Lopez and Ms. Way, Star Steppers has given me so much and will forever bless me with beautiful memories that I get to have for the rest of my life. STAR STEPPERS How is it already Spring Show? We can't believe how fast this year has gone by. Feels like yesterday we were just starting the school year and getting ready for some Ranger Football. A small part of me wishes we could turn back time and enjoy those moments again. However, we know our Seniors are ready to spread their wings and start their next chapter in life. We are super excited for them all and looking forward to hearing about their adventures. Great things are happening for our class of 2023! You all have been such a joy and we have loved seeing you grow as individuals and dancers. We are so proud of you and honored to have such a talented group of individuals to celebrate our 20 years of Fun, Friends and Forever Family. Laney Patton To the team, It has truly been such a privilege to serve as an officer for each of you this past year. I cannot even express how lucky I feel everyday to dance with such hasrdworking and loving individuals. Thank you for believing in yourselves and in me, for pushing our limits and growing together. You all have made my senior year so fulfilling that I have zero regrets. To the directors, Growing up I always enjoyed going to my sister's high school football games because I had the chance to watch the Star Steppers perform. Even after both of my parents moved far out of the school zone I refused to leave Vista Ridge because there is truly no other program like ours. Both of you have designed such a beautiful organization. It's such an honor to be one of the many who served time as a Star Stepper. Thank you for creating and allowing me to fulfill my childhood dreams. To the class of 2023, Ever since I was little I couldn’t wait to get to high school and become a star stepper. Now that I’m here I wish so desperately that I could go back and relive these past three years with all of you.
