Key Questions and Answers 1. FORM-What are natural calamities? Natural calamities are processes on Earth which can be done by humans or caused by nature which bring an enormous change on Earth's surface. 2. FUNCTION-How do natural calamities occur? Natural calamities occur due two main causes which are by nature or by human caused. Out of 100% ,75% are caused by humans example -When we go for camping we might not put it off which can cause wildfire and there are many examples like global warming, littering, pollution and many more...And few natural disaster are caused /

by nature like earthquakes and cyclones .In situations like these humans have no option but to protect themselves. CONNECTION-How are natural calamities connected to each other and the environment? Natural calamities are connected to each other by each leading to other disasters example -Volcanically-caused long period earthquakes are produced by vibrations generated by the movement of magma or other fluids within the volcano. Pressure within the system increases and the surrounding rock fails, creating small earthquakes. Natural disasters and environment are connected because when any natural disasters occur for sure there is a lot of damage caused by the natural disaster on the environment /

4. CHANGE-How is the life on land before and after the natural disaster? Many things can change like many animals, plants, birds and humans can lose their life, many buildings can collapse, there might be a lot of damage. 5. PERSPECTIVE-What are the various perspectives on addressing natural disasters? Each person has a perspective in addressing natural disasters like few might think protecting ourselves is the best way, others might think stopping human activities that harm nature is the solution but me and my group think that when all our perspectives of addressing natural disaster will combine and be one solution it will be the right path to follow. /

RESPONSIBILITY-What are the responsibilities of humans before, while and after a natural disaster? Before a natural disaster humans should take all the necessary items like food, water etc.. if the disaster will be for a longer period but if it is for a shorter period make sure we cover your head. While a natural disaster stay in one place hold something and cover your head. After a natural disaster make sure you stay in the same place for few minutes because they might come back and when you come out stay away from electric poles apartments because they might fall down. CAUSATION-What are effects of natural calamities? The end result might be a huge percentage of loss of life, damage of furniture and many /

more can change and the end result will be terrible. /

Case Studies and its Outcome We as a group did case studies on recent HYD floods in October and we came to know that The 2020 Hyderabad floods were a series of floods associated with Deep Depression BOB 02 that caused extensive damage and loss of life as a result of flash flooding in Hyderabad, India in October 2020. The fourth tropical cyclone and third deep depression of the 2020 North Indian Ocean cyclone season, BOB 02 formed on 11 October over the west-central Bay of /

Bengal and slowly drifted towards the east coast of India over the following three days. IMPACTS /

The floodgates of the Himayat Sagar were lifted as the water reached full reservoir levels, and the Musi river flowed full stream, flooding several localities and flowing over two causeway bridges. Due to BOB 02, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Maharashtra, and coastal Karnataka experienced heavy rain on 12 and 13 October with the capital city, with Hyderabad experiencing 32 cm of record breaking torrential rain creating flash floods in the city by 13 October. 2 people died in Vijayawada, and 50 people died in different parts of Telangana, including 19 in Hyderabad. Additionally, 27 people died in Maharashtra. Extreme crop loss in The Telangana government requested the Central government to provide relief to Hyderabad and surrounding areas. Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao wrote a /

letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking immediate release of ₹1,350 crore, in which ₹600 crore for farmers and ₹750 crore on relief and rehabilitation works in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area. On 14 October, the Telangana Government declared a two-day holiday for all nonessential workers due to flooding, and urged everyone to stay home. Amid the possibility of further flooding, more than 2,100 families were evacuated near Gurram Cheruvu. More than 150,000 meal packets were distributed to flood-affected areas. Math Integration /

We as a group collected graphs and facts on how we connected math to our global issue. Between 2000 and 2012, natural disasters caused $1.7 trillion in damage and affected 2.9 billion people 1. 2012 marked the third consecutive year of worldwide natural disaster damage exceeding $100 billion. 2011 reached a record high of $371 billion. 2. Worldwide in 2011, there were 154 floods, 16 droughts, and 15 cases of extreme temperature. 3. It serves as a team-based problem solving and brainstorming technique that can be used to explore problems and solutions and uncover ideas and options that might otherwise be overlooked by a homogeneously thinking group. /

This helps us a lot in group works and De Bono's Six Thinking Hats is a powerful technique for looking at decision making from different points of view. It helped us in knowing different perspectives and thinking hats helped us to seek new actions too. And make group decisions by answering the questions. Blue Hat means the processor. White Hat means facts. Red Hat means feelings .Green Hat means creativity. Yellow Hat means benefits. Black hat means cautions. /
