Fairy Tale The Golden Fish Once upon a time, there was an old man who lived in a fine manor; not just furniture with gold and, but also a beautiful wife and lovely children. Although he got a luxury life that every person will appeal to, it still couldn’t satisfy his desire for wealth and money (CX). Once a day, he sat by a pond fishing as usual; attempted to relax and forget the stress, suffering that the work had on him. The mellow breeze from the relaxing morning slid lightly by his face while he was enjoying the serenity and calmness that had brought him. All of a sudden, an unusually strong force precipitate pulled him with the fishing pole (S). Within he held the handle as strong as he could; pulling and pulling the “fish\" back to the surface. Finally, he dragged the object to the shore. Unexpectedly, the thing that he had caught was not a fish; however, it was actually a golden fish statue. The statue was oddly with no dirt and mud on it although it looks like it had been left under the pond for a long time, and the details on the fish were all way better than everything that he had seen before (CCX). Under the sunshine, every scale from the statue reflected a shining and shimmering

light. The eyes of it were encrusted with diamonds. No flaw that the old man can find on the golden fish. Its gills, fins, and scales, all they just look extremely beautiful and perfect. He took the golden fish back to his home, making it to be one of the splendor decorations in his manor. After the statue arrived, it matched incredibly well with the other fancy furniture; also giving it more of an enchanted atmosphere. Every servant in his house was all amazed about it. Every time they pass the statue, they will be stunned in front of it for a while; just to admire the aura that has shown from the statue. Not only the appearance of the golden fish was special about it but also something more magical had happened after the statue had come to the old man's home (PCC). A ton of big companies had cooperation with his business and stocks that he had invested in all surged up which brought him plenty of money. He really enjoyed the fortunate that the golden statue had given to him. More and more fancy decorations and furniture were brought to his house, but more and more he had become greedy (C). He never gave the money he earned to the poor or charity. All he is thinking about is increasing the quality of his own life; buying himself better clothes and expanding his own manor. Moreover, he seldom spends time with his family. Most of the time, he stayed in his office caring and checking all the business work and payment. In fact after he had found the golden fish, this kind of habit had become worse. A few months later, a bizarre sickness was spread in his manor. Except the old man, servants and his family all were infected. Their bodies started to grow sceals, and fins were spiking out their backs and arms. He hired all the best doctors in the town, trying to solve the sickness. Unfortunately, none of them could give any solution. Day by day, their sickness had become worse. Gills are booping from their bodies. Something even worse is that they could barely breathe from the air. Also, tons of water they need for the day.

Because of this sickness, he started to wonder what would happen if he lost all the people in the manor; especially his family. The loneliness he had to face although he had plenty of property. From now on, he started to retrospect all the behavior that he had done before; beginning to be careless to his family, beginning to be greedy about wealth. He stared at the golden statue, struggling with the fortunate or the curse that the golden fish had brought to him. The next day, he dragged the statue back to where he found it, the pond. The golden fish was reflected by the water; shaking, swaying, and quivering its charming body (PL). Shadow of the sun stuck closely to it. He dropped the golden statue back into the water, slowly it sank; showing its reluctance… “It's time for us to break up…”
