I learnt from this lesson that it 3. No merchandise is crucial to read over work and check for spelling and grammar 4. No inspiration mistakes but ensure that I haven’t missed anything out. It 5. Using Loren Ipsum is also important that I double check that I am meeting the 6.Missing work brief because a design deck is put together to show the client 7. Bibliography the designs that I have created and it allows them to decide which they like therefore if I am getting paid for a service I need to deliver high quality work

Visual content When we were discussing 1. Consistency where we had gone wrong there were a list of bullet points 2.Information missing as I have included to the right. It is crucial for me to understand 3. Missing online presence that even though I understand the thought process and what I 4. Visual design was thinking at the time no one else will if i don’t show it and this 5. Using Loren Ipsum has been a struggle for me to always get it on paper. I spent a 6.Missing work lot of tine checking and double checking all of my work because 7. Bibliography I was scared of information missing or spelling errors because this is for an event so if details are missing they might not have known where to go for example.

Developing new ideas When we were thinking about creating our new design and visual diary it was obvious that people had a lot of questions because we had never done work like this before. It was commonly confused when we discussed generating new ideas for our next design deck because people thought we could use the same ones again without realising that we had to create 3 brand new ideas that we had not used so far.

Visual diaries

Responding to feedback In class we discussed visual diaries and 1. Effort came up with 10 things to consider shown 2. Spelling to the right. Effort it is important when we 3. Typography are creating our visual diaries that they 4. Composition represent 200 hours of work. This means 5. References that mine should not give the impression 6. Screenshots that it has been rushed. It should be laid out 7. Experiments properly with consideration put into the 8. Reading look and feel of it. 9. Finish Spelling is a massive issue because my class 10. Evaluation didn’t realise that InDesign and Photoshop both have a spell check and this would have saved them a lot of time. Typography is crucial as we were warned not to use the dreaded PAPYRUS and we had to use a range of different fonts. Composition is crucial because I want to show my audience that I have carefully chosen the layout specifically for each page and haven’t rushed any of my work.

Responding to feedback References is important because I don’t not 1. Effort want to plagiarising anyone else’s work so it 2. Spelling is more that I reference any relevant work. 3. Typography Screenshots need to be included to show 4. Composition the design process so that people can see 5. References how you have created your designs. 6. Screenshots Experiments are also important because 7. Experiments you want to show that you have tried other 8. Reading ideas. 9. Finish Reading is crucial when we were discussing 10. Evaluation feedback because you are required to show your understanding. Finish of my work needs to be professional this includes the pictures because I don’t want them to be blurry. Evaluation is important because I need to go through and criticise my work so that it can help me improve for next time.

Visual research & Communication

Visual communication When we were discussing graphic design in class I came across the term visual communication and I found myself wanting to explore into it more because I had never thought of graphic design being this important or in this way until we started learning more about it. As the audience use the images to interpret what is being communicated to them this is where it gets its name from. This is why it is so important to send the correct message to the audience because if it is misread of misinterpreted it could cause confusion or offence which is every graphic designers worst nightmare.

In our daily lives Graphic design in our daily lives is something that I was not previously aware of. As shown below in the example I have included we are always bombarded with graphic design without even noticing. Design is constantly changing and is not always perfect as people can misinterpret the message. Design appears in our lives without us realising for example: • A book • Our phones • Every website • Road signs

In health When we were discussing graphic design in class I never thought of it affecting the health sector although from class I learnt that graphic design plays a major part in our perceptions of health and medicine. As graphic designers have the opportunity to have direct effects on the public. There are two methods of graphic design in terms of health these are encouragement or fear. Below I have included an example of each. The encouragement poster is there to support people to get healthy and the fear poster is there to try and grab peoples attention and prevent them from smoking in this example. Encouragement Fear

In food packaging Graphic design in food packaging changes between products and throughout time as trends are constantly. Below I have included four different styles of packaging: • Pattern • Rustic • Luxury • Innovative The packaging design has a major effect on the consumer because if the packaging is not appealing it will not sell. The packaging is important as it defines the product and gives it quality. Pattern Rustic Luxury Innovative

Chip Kidd Chip Kidd is most commonly know for creating his unconventional book covers. Chip Kidd also known for his graphic design and working as an author and editor. When researching Chip Kidd I learnt that he began as a freelancer which I found inspirational because he worked his way up in the company and is very well known for his own work. Below I have included my favourite book cover created by Chip Kidd which is the Jurassic park cover. When I was watching his interview I learnt how he created it. He was sketching the dinosaur from another book when he was contacted and asked for the rights to picture.

EXPERIMENT When I was thinking about creating my design deck this was one of the designs that I had in mind creating a Bauhaus style poster. I tried creating different ones but I didn’t think that they would fit the brief so I decided to try and create something else instead because these wouldn’t be suitable. But I am happy that I had the chance to try it because I like the Bauhaus style of graphic design.

Process 2 4 1This is the process for the poster I created after I had chosen the typography and inserted shapes This is screenshot 2 1whilst I was aligning the elements within my poster 3I had almost completed my poster as this stage just changing the colour of shapes and inserting my information The final stage all 4 3completed.

EXPERIMENT

Process 1To open picture 1 2 and crop it 3 4 2Open new 6 document and add building them select typography 3Added a black background 4Select the typography and add rest of text 5Added details but left them white to stand out 6Changed 2020 5 to orange so it would tie in

EXPERIMENT

EXPERIMENT

DFIERSSITGN or my first Fdesign I was inspired by the Swiss style design. As shown below it demonstrates overlapping text in a series of different colours I thought this would be a dynamic and eye- catching idea. Process Open a new document. Type 2020 and change the colour and opacity of them so they will overlap. Then I added the rest of the information and changed the typography

SDEECSOIGNND he inspiration Tfor my second design is below I followed the idea of constructing a vocal point for my design. I used the pen tool to sketch around the outside of the I block building as this is where the event will be. Process Open a new document. Type the information. I used the pen tool and drew around I block. Then I added the information and changed the colour of it all so that it would contrast one another and stand out

The poster I created to the left I made by using a clipping mask of a marble effect and used it to be the design of the poster as I thought it would be contemporary and dynamic for the End ofYear show. DTHEISRIGDN

Process 1To open marble 1 2 picture 4 6 2Add text on top of the layer 3Create a clipping 3 mask 4Add a black background 5Use colour theme 5 tool and select a colour from the text. 6Add the rest of the information and align.

Process COVER

Process 1Open picture 1 2 and remove 3 4 background 2Open picture and remove background 3Add flower over my face 4Free transform to make it bigger and duplicate layers
