Vitamin C+ZINC is different than other forms of Vitamin C because it includes naturally derived lipid metab- olites and citrus bioflavonoids to enhance the up- take, distribution and release kinetics of Vitamin C. In Vitamin C+ZINC, fatty acids act as ascorbic acid car- riers to increase intestinal absorption and vascu- lar distribution of Vitamin C and enhance cellular up- take kinetics which allows the vitamin to enter cells in a safe, quick and effective manner. Citrus bioflavo- noids protect the vitamin C from oxidizers and contrib- ute to the antioxidant capability of Vitamin C+ZINC. Research conducted at Adelphi University (New York), compared cellular uptake of several forms of vi- tamin C and found that two hours after treatment with the vitamin, human T-lymphocyte treated with Vitamin C+ZINC contained higher vitamin C lev- el than any other treatment group evaluated [1]. The fact of the perfect absorption of Vitamin C+ZINC® in the blood stream is also connected with the unique- ly quick permeation of fatty metabolites of vitamin C through the cell walls. Microcapsules of Vitamin C+Z- INC® have a much greater affinity to lipid structures of cell membranes, and they can penetrate them into the inside of the cells more easily and efficiently. Scientific research shows that such a form of vitamin C was the most quickly absorbable by the human lym- phocytes T H9. Those cells of the immune sys- tem fulfil very important functions in the body.

A study conducted by researchers from the University of Miami School of Medicine found that the average se- rum vitamin C level was higher in the group taking Nat- ural C for a 24 hour period following intake. The study consisted of healthy volunteers who went on a two week long vitamin C-restricted diet and then received a single 1,000 mg supplement of vitamin C taking either Natural C or one of several other vitamin C forms [2]. The study showed more rapidly absorbed (233% higher) and highly retained by the body than other forms of Vitamin C. Vitamin C levels were then deter- mined by high pressure liquid chromatogra- phy (HPLC) with electrochemical detection (EC).

The University of Miami School of Medicine researchers also determined that the level of C-reactive protein (mark- er of systemic inflammation in the body) and oxidized low density lipoprotein (LDL) decreased when healthy vol- unteers took Natural C. Researchers found that 24 hours after intake of Natural C the serum level of C-reactive pro- tein decreased 15.6% and oxidized LDL dropped 8.4% [2]. The anti-oxidant action of Natural C® and the ability to “sweep away” free radicals are further properties which differentiate the fatty metabolites of vitamin C from other forms of vitamin C. This ability to sweep away free radicals was tested by analysing the de- gree of DPPH reduction, which allowed the determina- tion of the degree of effectiveness of the fatty metab- olites of vitamin C in the fight against free radicals [2].

Moreover, Natural C has been found to outperform other Vitamin C forms in metabolic functions where Vitamin C is known to play a role, as well as in antioxidant activi- ty. Adelphi University researchers found that in ex vivo studies, Natural C stimulates neurite outgrowth, improve fibroplast adhesion during wound healing, and protects the immune system from inflammation substantially better than the other forms of Vitamin C evaluated [3].

Vitamin C + ZINC boost your immune system

One of the main reasons people take vitamin C supple- ments is to boost their immunity, as vitamin C is in- volved in many parts of the immune system. First, vi- tamin C helps encourage the production of white blood cells known as lymphocytes and phagocytes, which help protect the body against infection [4]. Vitamin C stimulates several immune functions, such as cell motility and phagocytosis, resistance to oxida- tive damage, and interferon release. It is also need- ed for apoptosis and clearance of the spent neutro- phils from sites of infection by macrophages, thereby decreasing necrosis (programmed cell death) .[13] Second, vitamin C helps these white blood cells function more effectively while protecting them from damage by potentially harmful molecules, such as free radi- cals. When free radicals accumulate, they can pro- mote a state known as oxidative stress, which has been linked to many chronic diseases. Studies show that consuming more vitamin C can increase your blood antioxidant levels by up to 30%. This helps the body’s natural defences fight inflammation .[5,6] Third, vitamin C is an essential part of the skin’s defence system. It’sactivelytransportedtotheskin, whereitcanact as an antioxidant and help strengthen the skin’s barriers [7]. Studies have also shown that taking vitamin C may short- en wound healing time [8].

Vitamin C + ZINC Effective antiviral

Vitamin C is an immune-relevant micronutrient which is depleted in viral infections, and this deficiency seems to play a critical role in the pathogenesis of viral infections. HighdosevitaminCtreatmenthas beenshowntobeeffec- tive against the avian virus H1N1 and the Zika virus .[14,15] Another study reported by Gonzales et al. concerns Chi- kungunya fever. This viral disease is produced by a sin- gle-stranded RNA Alphavirus from the Togaviridae ge- nus and is transmitted principally by the mosquito, Aedes aegypti. The study was on an individual patient who was given IVC for two days which eliminated the symptoms .[16] Researchers in USA studied high dose Vitamin C against COVID-19. They noted a significant decrease in in- flammatory markers, including ferritin and D-dimer, and a trend to decreasing FiO2 requirements, after vitamin C administration. Hence, it is concluded that the use of Vitamin C may be useful to alleviate the harmful effects of COVID-19 infections in patients .[17] Previous reports revealed that cytokine storms, which can be suppressed by Vitamin C, are believed to be the main mechanism in the deterioration of patients with COVID-19. High Dose Vitamin C has been prov- en to be safe and therapeutic in critical care medi- cine, primarily as an adjunct to the treatment of sep- tic shock and multiple organ failure, where it has been shown to improve outcomes and reduce mortality .[18] A group of researchers in Malaysia have done a human trial on the effects of High Dose Vitamin C in Critical-

ly Ill Patients with COVID-19. They concluded that pa- tients who received Vitamin C had 57% lower in mor- tality rate, 9 days shorter of hospital stays, 5.6 days faster in Successful Extubation & 7.5 days faster in Weaning off Oxygen Support. They also concluded that Vitamin C has performed these 4 crucial roles; • Minimise cytokine storm COVID-19 infection. caused by • Protect the tissues from oxidative damage and dys- function. • Inhibit TNF-α production and in turn, retard the acute hyperinflammatory response. • Assists lung epithelial cell recovery and surfactant production to improve lung function and mechanics.
