Tony Tomasin cut his vacation time short to help out a new business wanting to open before the holidays. Inspections were requested last minute so Tony offered to come in and help them out. Thanks for the dedication Tony, your actions didn’t go unnoticed!
Oh What Fun... December was! Happy BIRTHDAY Dec. 2nd: Mark Artinian Dec. 4th: Beth Bartos Dec. 7th: Bill Mathisen & Dillon Morgan Happy Anniversary! Mike McLain celebrated 5 years with the city on December 12th. OCBOA LUNCHEON We're dog lovers! A few managers and Customer Members of the Department attended the Service took a quick break to take swearing in ceremony of Mike Viazanko as a picture with the puppies from President of OCBOA (Oakland County Building Officials Association) and Angelo Pizzo as Leader Dogs for the Blind. Winners of the decorating contest were announced along with the handout of anniversary pins.
Staff Activity Christmas Week Building Department Bake-Off 1st Place: Jeff Schultz with a variety of chocolate chip, pistachio and snickerdoodle cookies 2nd Place: Jodi Welch We started Christmas The department had fun with Nanaimo Bars Week off with a guessing decorating aprons for 3rd Place: Beth D game of our first cars! the Directors to wear on with Pepperoni Bread the day of our luncheon. The uglier the better! We had a panel of judges - Leanne Scott, Chris McLeod and Lisa Cummins The staff split up into teams and put their best efforts towards building a gingerbread house to meet the inspectors' requirements. How well do you know your coworkers? The staff guessed which fun fact belonged to which employee. Some of you guys have lived some interesting lives!

Facilities Activity Design and build new workstations in the Building Department Innovation Hills Ranger Station and Borden Park Office Building work is ongoing Permits were pulled and work is in progress for the city park building roofs Currently reviewing vendors for DPS lighting upgrades to all LED lights Spencer Park Beach house restrooms are painted and updated with new partitions Fire 1 has new glass overhead doors being installed - status is ongoing Museum farmhouse porch replacement is on hold due to weather Lactation Room being built on 2nd floor Working on specifications for 2023 projects Facilities continue to incorporate the Building plan in our work and interactions
