The posters advocate Marsha P. For my subjects I chose Marsha P. Johnson, Alok Vaid- Menon, and Lavern Cox. I then based the pointed finger and typography placement on the “I Want You” poster. 55","Digital Outlines To understand the space I had to work with, I first had to create outlines of my subjects. Once I was satisfied with the illustrations I moved onto the typographic elements. 56","Adding Typography I WANT YOU I WANT YOU I WANT YOU TO PROTECT TO PROTECT TO PROTECT LGBTQ+ LIVES LGBTQ+ LIVES LGBTQ+ LIVES The typography was simple and bold to match the style of the original “I Want You” poster. I then had to play around with size and placement to make sure everything fit cohesively together. 57","Adding Color I WANT YOU I WANT YOU I WANT YOU TO PROTECT TO PROTECT TO PROTECT LGBTQ+ LIVES LGBTQ+ RIGHTS LGBTQ+ YOUTH Adding color really brought the posters to life. The transgender flag is pink, white, and blue, so adding those colors along with purple, a mix of pink and blue, was the perfect choice. I kept the lipstick and jewelry color consistent for them all and each of their eye shadows match the color of their clothes. 58","Putting it All Together Marsha P. Adding boarders to designs is not my style, but to really drive home the connection between these posters and the original it made the most sense. I added a small bit of information about each subject so that the intent behind them was clear.
