Strategic Technology and Operation Roadmap (STORM-LITE) (24 hours) Skills Course Reference Number: CRS-N-0051894 The Strategic Technology and Operation Roadmap (STORM-LITE) course is to equip the participants with basic knowledge and an appreciation of strategic planning activities through SIMTech’s proven Operation and Technology Roadmapping (OTR®) methodology. OTR® is a strategic planning tool that is suitable for SMEs, MNCs or any organisations looking to create a roadmap to deal with fast-changing developments in their line of business. Why This Course ® Upon completing the course, participants will be able to understand and appreciate the architecture and feature of a strategic technology and operation roadmap® as well as: • Understand the role and importance of an effective OTR® facilitator • Learn the various basic and advanced tools that complement the OTR® This course will teach you more on roadmap methodology and less on facilitation skills. To learn more holistic skills about the group dynamics and finer skills to draw out quality content from companies, participants can attend SIMTech’s two STORM modules “Processes for Strategic Technology and Operation RoadMapping” and “Implement Strategic Technology and Operation RoadMapping”. What You Will Learn Topic 1: Facilitation Core Skills • Effective listening and questioning techniques • Major steps in the facilitation process • Brainstorming divergence and convergence tool box • Skills in delivering the process Topic 2: Roadmapping Methodology • Roadmapping theory • OTR® methodology • Strategic analysis of a company • Company product/service features performance dimension analyses • Brainstorming and prioritising market trends/external drivers • Setting and prioritising for internal goals/ambitions, vision, and mission • Brainstorming and prioritising strategic new products/services • Identifying and prioritising strategic new technologies and resources • Final roadmap charting About the Trainers Mr Jeffrey Pan is a Senior Industry Development Manager at A*STAR with a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. He is an IAF Certified Professional Facilitator™ as well as a Balanced Scorecard Professional™. Jeff has co-developed SIMTEch’s Operation and Technology Roadmapping (OTR®) methodology and system and has designed and facilitated over a hundred industry roadmaps. He has been the Lead Facilitator for more than fifty agency/joint roadmaps and roundtables as well as the STORM Lead Trainer who have trained more than 100 participants for over 14 batches. Mr Irving Hu is a Senior Industry Development Manager at A*STAR. With an MEng degree from the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, his research focus lies in the Operation and Technology Roadmapping (OTR® ) methodology which he has co-developed with Jeff Pan, his co-instructor. Over the years, he has successfully conducted numerous roadmapping projects for agencies, organisations, industry consortias, and trade associations. Course Fee and Funding • The full course fee for this module is S$3,000 before SkillsFuture funding & GST. • All Singaporeans and Permanent Residents aged 21 years and above can enjoy SkillsFuture funding of up to 70% of the course fee. • Singaporean or Permanent Resident employees fully sponsored by SMEs can enjoy SkillsFuture funding support of up to 90% of the course fee under the Enhanced Training Support for Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) scheme, subject to eligibility criteria. • Singaporeans aged 40 years and above can enjoy SkillsFuture funding of up to 90% of the course fee under the Mid-career Enhanced Subsidy (MCES). • Singaporeans aged 25 years old and above are eligible for SkillsFuture Credit which can be used to offset course fees (for self-sponsored registrations only).
