Review Polymer-based Additive Manufacturing Processes for Flexible Mass Customisation (45 hours) Skills Course Reference Number: CRS-Q-0038631-PRE This course aims to introduce the fundamental concept and theoretical knowledge of polymer-based additive manufacturing (AM) processes to address high-mix low-volume production for applications in the Precision Engineering industry, as well as other related industrial sectors. Participants will acquire knowledge and skills on material and polymer AM selection to fulfil specific functional requirements. New insight, understanding and more in-depth perspectives are gained on various polymer-based AM processes, such as stereolithography, selective laser sintering, fused deposition modelling, polymer jetting and other upcoming polymer AM processes. The course includes industrial case studies and practical lab sessions to substantiate technology adoption of polymer AM processes in actual production. Why This Course • Designed specifically to meet Singapore’s industry demand • Delivered by technology experts with many years of industrial projects’ experience • Highly practical and hands-on work intensive • Latest knowledge and up-to-date technologies via industrial case-studies Who Should Attend This course is targeted at operation managers, manufacturing managers/engineers, production planning engineers, materials engineers, mechanical engineers, production engineers, foremen and skilled operators, quality control managers/engineers, materials purchasing engineers, laboratory managers and engineers, as well as all manufacturing industries with forming processes such as precision engineering, aerospace, biomedical, automotive, and electronics sectors. Upon Completion of this Course Electronic certificates (e-Certs) are issued by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) to participants who have attended and attained competency in the Singapore Skills Framework training modules. Training Venue: Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology 2 Fusionopolis Way, Innovis, Level 8, Singapore 138634

What You Will Learn This module is designed to equip participants with industrial knowledge of polymer-based additive manufacturing (AM) processes. Contents covered in this module include: • Polymer materials used in additive manufacturing • Principles of various polymer-based additive manufacturing systems • Vat photopolymerisation (stereolithography) • Material jetting (3D polymer jetting) • Powder-bed fusion polymer additive manufacturing (selective laser sintering) • Polymer powder-bed inkjet 3D printing • Material extrusion process (fused deposition modelling) • Post-processing of polymer additive manufacturing parts • Design guidelines and file preparation of specific polymer additive manufacturing systems • Advantages and challenges in additively manufactured polymer parts • Industrial applications and case studies of polymer additive manufactured components • Quality assessment of polymer additive manufactured parts and material feedstock • Project-based case studies on polymer-based additive manufacturing systems About the Course Leaders Dr Florencia Edith Wiria is a Scientist with SIMTech. She obtained her PhD degree from the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Her research career concentrates on process and material development for 3D printing systems, such as stereolithography, selective laser sintering, powder-bed inkjet 3D printer, polymer jetting, fused deposition modeling, and selective laser melting. She has led research and industry projects involving materials and their composites for 3D printing of functional components. She has 1 patent filing application and published over 50 international journal and conference papers. Dr Ng Feng Lin is a Scientist at SIMTech. She received her Honours Bachelor’s degree (2004) and PhD (2019) from the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She is also a recipient of the A*STAR Graduate Scholarship in 2014. Prior to her further studies, she had been working closely with the industry on polymer processing and characterisation to fulfil various industrial requirements. Her current research focuses on polymeric 3D printing process development and its relevant characterisation.
