Buster Vet Examination Bag Code : PHY_0001 Name : Buster Vet Examination Bag Objective : Students can be familiar with and able to use commercial animal examination bag as a restrain equipment during animal transportation and clinical procedures such as physical examination, imaging examination, catheterization for blood collection, drug administration, vaccination, and fluid therapy, as well as nail cutting and ear cleaning in small animals including cats, small dog, and rabbits.

Methodology 1. Place the animal restrain bag on the table or suitable place for animal restrain. 2. Open the restrain bag by unlock the Velcro straps at the neck and the back areas (open the zip on the back part, if applicable) before spreading open the bag to prepare restrain area (do not unzip at the bottom part of the bag). 3. Restrain and place the animal on the opened bag gentry. 4.The restrainer should stand facing the side of the bag and the neck part of the bag is on the right side of restrainer. 5. Use left hand to restrain the head of animal by grabbing the upper neck skin firmly and use place left arm on the back of animal to press animal onto the ground, gentry. 6. Use right hand to carefully gather the front part of the bag and place it in the left hand’s fingers while the left hand still firmly restrains the head of animal. 7. Lock the neck part of the bag with the Velcro strap while the animal head is restrained. 8. Place the right arm above the back of the animal and firmly secure the animal body to the restrainer while use both right arm and left hand to restrain animal head. 9. Squeeze right arm gentry and use right elbow to restrain the front legs and shoulder of the animal.

10. Use right hand to grab the left part of the bag before place in above the back of the animal and use left hand to grab the right part of the bag toward the other side and arrange the animal’s body parts that should be in the bag before closing the back zip (if applicable) and locking the Velcro straps at the middle and the end parts of the bag. 11. Do not leave the animal in the bag unattended on the table (animal may be able to move and fall from the table). 12. Special zip pocket and cutout holes can be used for their designed clinical procedures. 13. After finishing animal transportation or restrain, use right arm and elbow to restrain the upper part of the animal body and use left hand to unlock the Velcro straps from the end to the middle parts of the bag before unzip the bag (if applicable), then use left hand to restrain the head of the animal and use the right hand to unlock the Velcro strap at the neck part of the bag. 14. Remove the animal out of the bag gentry. Result 1.Veterinary students can practice and improve their skill in using the animal restrain bag as an adjunctive restrain tool. 2.Veterinary students are able to explain or teach the animal owners or other personals that want to use the animal restrain bag. 3.The use of the animal restrain bag can reduce animal stress during the transportation or restraining by veterinarians, veterinary nurse, and the owners.

BBuusstteerr VVeett nnyylloonn mmuuzzzzllee Code : PHY_0002 Name : Buster Vet Nylon Muzzle Objective : Students can be familiar with and able to use commercial animal muzzle as a restrain equipment during clinical procedures such as physical examination and therapy, as well as nail cutting and ear cleaning for dogs and cats. Methodology : 1.Place the animal on the suitable place for animal restrain. 2.Restrain the head of the animal by using the animal restrain bag or other personals (In the case of restrain unaggressive medium size dog without other restrainers or assistances, place right arm above the dog back and place left arm under the dog neck, the left elbow should be under the dog chin, then use the right hand to grab and place the nylon muzzle on the dog face).

3.Place opened nylon muzzle around the animal’s muzzle gently, the nylon muzzle front hole should be around animal’s nose. 4.Grab the straps and pull them across the head under the animal’s ears before close the Velcro strap to lock the nylon muzzle around the occipital area. 5.After finish animal procedures, unlock the Velcro strap before pull the nylon muzzle out of the animal’s face. Result 1. Veterinary students are able to practice and improve their skill in using the commercial muzzle as the adjunctive restrain tool. 2. Veterinary students are able to explain or teach the animal owners or other personals that want to use the commercial muzzle. 3. The use of the commercial muzzle can reduce animal stress during the transportation or restraining by veterinarians, veterinary nurse, and the owners.

Microscope slides and cover glass Code : PHY_0003, PHY_0006 Name : Microscope slides or Clear glass and Cover glass Objective : Students can practice the use of microscope slide and cover glass for microscopic examination of fecal examination and urine sediment examination. Methodology : 1. Place clean microscope slide on the table of flat surface and drop prepared sample solution (one drop) on the middle of the microscope slide. 2. Place cover glass vertically with a 45° angle on the side edge of the sample on the microscope slide.

3. Slowly release cover glass horizontally to the microscope slide to spread the sample solution under the cover glass. 4. Place microscope slide with sample under the microscope for examination. 5. After finish examination, eliminate the microscope slide with sample and cover glass according to laboratory regulation such as put in the sharp container or infectious bin. Result 1. Veterinary students are able to practice sample preparation for microscopic examination. 2. Veterinary students are able to explain or teach other personals that have to prepare sample for microscopic examination. 3. In housed microscopic examination can provide differential diagnosis and facilitate treatment plan while waiting for confirmed result from the standardized/specialized laboratory centers.

Clipnosis Code : PHY_0004 Name : Clipnosis Objective : Students can be familiar with and able to use commercial scuffling neck clip as a restrain equipment during clinical procedures such as physical examination and therapy, as well as nail cutting and ear cleaning for cats. Methodology : 1. Gently restrain and put a cat on the restrain area. 2. Grab the loss skin on the neck area of the cat (scuffling) gently. 3. Squeeze the wing parts of the scuffling neck clip to open the clip before placing it on the grabbed neck skin.

4. Release the wing parts of the clip and place the wing parts along the neck line of the cat. 5. Proceed animal procedures after the cat shows signs of relaxing. 6. After finish animal procedure, push the wing parts of the clip up and squeeze them to release the clip from the cat neck. Note: This scuffling neck clip may not be effective in reducing aggressiveness and stress in some cats. Also, using this scuffling neck clip is not necessary in handling and restraining the gentle and cooperative cats. Result 1. Veterinary students are able to practice and improve their skill in using the commercial scuffling neck clip as the adjunctive restrain tool for cats. 2. Veterinary students are able to explain or teach the animal owners or other personals that want to use the commercial scuffling neck clip. 3. The use of the commercial scuffling neck clip may reduce stress in cats during the restraining by veterinarians, veterinary nurse, and the owners.
