According to Stuart, “Steven is one of the best Drivers, and this note from the customer is an example of the level of service he provides on a daily basis.” Stuart also stated that while Steven is a great Driver, he’s also praised by his peers for saving a co-worker’s life. In March, Steven was having lunch in the Shreveport, La., Terminal when a co-worker began to choke. Steven sprang into action and began administering the Heimlich Maneuver. At first, he was not having any success, but he stayed calm and continued until her airway was eventually clear. “It was a scary situation but I knew that I needed to do something,” Steven says. “I was grateful that I was able to help.” Driver Steven Young’s confident and relaxed approach helped him respond quickly to a desperate situation. 4 Summer 2016 • Kenan Advantage Group

Specialty Products Rebrands to Capitalize on Strengths Patty Harcourt, Vice President of Corporate Communications, spoke with Terry Wheelock, Executive Vice President of Specialty Products, on a new branding initiative for the Specialty Products Group. Patty: Terry, can you explain why we’re rebranding our chemical and food-grade operations under “KAG Specialty Products?” Terry: First, this really came about early last year when I began referring to our group as Team SPG. I wanted to create more unity among our different subsidiaries that make up Specialty Products, i.e. Transport Service (TSC), DistTech and the former Enterprise business. We are the second-largest business group under the KAG umbrella, and I want our employees to feel a sense of pride in their contributions to the overall company. Second, as we went through the private equity transaction last year, we found out from our new partners that Kenan Advantage Group is widely known for their fuels business, but not as well known in the chemical and food-grade space. That would make sense since KAG began as a fuel hauler in 1991, and our chemical business didn’t really take off until the acquisition “ I WANT OUR of TSC in 2008.
