IntegrationandEnhancem entofGreaterOneNorth-I academ icwork|DOVER-NUS-ONENORTH|SINGAPORE| MAUD_1stsem ster Theareacoversapproximately7sq.km.ThemaingoalofGreaterOneNorthisto extendtheexistinganddevelopingOneNorthdistricttowardstheWestuntilClementi Road.Thisaimstocreatemoreconnectivityandurbancohesionbetweenelements thatarepresentlyseparated(byAYE,byemptyorunderusedspaces,bytoolong distances,etc.). ThesiteofGreaterOneNorthisalreadylargelyusedbyexistingurbanisationthat cannotbe removed (NUSCampusand U-Town,NUH,DoverHDBestate,etc.). Therefore,thechallengeandcornerstoneofthisprojectisINTENSIFICATION,byevery possiblemeans:connection,new development,transformationordensificationof existing elements,developmentofnew centralitieswith retail,services,leisure amenities,etc. Natureandlandscapemustplayacriticalroleinthedevelopment.Firstlybecauseof theirimportanceinthemakingofacomfortable,sustainableandresilienturbanisa- tion.Secondlybecausethelandscapeandpublicstrategyisanessentialmeansto provide clarity,legibilityand coherence to an area thatpresentlylacksany cohesivenessandunity. Mobilityisalsoakeyelementtoirrigatethesiteasawholeinaconvenientandefficient way,inordertofacilitatelastkilometresolutionstoandfrom theexistingMRTstations. Mobilityshouldalsoaddressproximity,andnotonlydealwithpublictransportmodes, butalsowithactivemodeslikewalkingorcycling,whichisallowedbythesizeofthe area.Theissuehereistoprovideasmartchainofmobilitythatwillencourageand facilitatemovementwithinthesiteitselfandbetweenthesiteandsurroundingdistricts.
