This Policy outlines guidance and refers to further policies and a risk assessment to sustain a healthy and safe workplace during these unusual times. We strongly recommend you read through this policy, to ensure we are all aware of how we can collectively respond to this challenge. Below are the policy elements, employees should take to protect themselves, co-workers and people they come into contact with during work from a potential coronavirus infection. Covid-19 / Coronavirus Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. Covid-19 / Coronavirus Policy If you feel unwell • If you or any member of your household have symptoms, such as cough/fever, or feel unwell, even if these are mild symptoms contact your line manager immediately and stay at home. • If you have had a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, you can only return to work only after you have fully recovered, with a FIT note confirming your recovery from your GP or Health professional. Reasonable adjustments • If you are feeling ill, but you can work, you can request to work from home if possible, dependant on your job role, please contact your line manager to make the necessary arrangements. • If you have recently returned from areas with a high number of COVID-19 cases (based on CDC announcements), please contact your line manager for further advice, before you return to work. • If you have been in close contact with someone infected by COVID-19, with high chances of being infected yourself, please contact your line manager for further advice, before you return to work. You should not to come into physical contact with any colleagues during this time. • If you are a parent/guardian and you must stay at home with your children, please contact your line manager to make necessary mutually agreed arrangements. • If you need to provide care to a family member infected by COVID-19 and wish to work from home, please contact your line manager to make necessary mutually arrangements. • If you are within the higher risk category as per NHS guidelines https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/people-at-higher-risk-from- coronavirus/ please contact your line manager for further advice. Travelling/commuting considerations • All work trips and events – both domestic and international, where it is deemed unessential travel should be discussed with your line manager. • In-person meetings should be done virtually where possible. • If you normally commute to the office by public transportation and do not have other alternatives, you can request to work from home if this is possible. • If you are planning to travel voluntarily to a high-risk country with increased COVID-19 cases, please contact your line manager. • We will offer video interpreting services for all booking requests where appropriate V0.1 20/09/21
Covid-19 / Coronavirus Policy General hygiene /cleaning rules • Wash your hands after using the toilet, before eating, and if you cough/sneeze into your hands (follow the 20 second hand wash rules). Please also see further information contained within the Sign Solutions Covid-19 Risk Assessment • Cough/sneeze into your sleeve, preferably into your elbow. If you use a tissue, discard it properly and clean/sanitize your hands immediately. Please see further information contained within the Sign Solutions Covid-19 Risk Assessment. • Open the windows regularly to ensure open ventilation. • Avoid touching your face, particularly eyes, nose, and mouth with your hands to prevent infection. • If you find yourself coughing/sneezing on a regular basis, avoid close physical contact with others and take extra precautionary measures such as requesting sick leave or working from home. • Frequently clean and disinfect objects and surfaces that are touched regularly particularly in areas of high use such as door handles, light switches, Kettles, kitchen appliances, reception area using appropriate cleaning products and methods. • Where PPE is provided please ensure these and are not shared with any other person.
