1 BYOD Policy 1.1.1 Outline BYOD, more commonly known as “Bring Your Own Device” helps to establish a condition for employees bringing their own devices to the workplace. This document will outline a number of conditions and procedures that must be adhered to for personal devices to be accepted on the network. 1.1.2 Policy To allow the use of personal devices on the Sign Solutions network, the following conditions must be agreed to: • By agreeing to the BYOD policy, employees must use strong passwords for their devices as outlined in the Password Policy; • BYOD devices must not be jailbroken or rooted; • A feature must be in place to lock the device after a stated number of failed password attempts (e.g. 5 password attempts then lock the device); • All Operating System updates on BYOD devices must be applied within 1 week; • All applications on BYOD devices must be updated within 1 week; • Sensitive data shall not be stored on any BYOD devices and, if required, this data must be adequately encrypted; • The BYOD device must lock after a period of idle, typically a minute or less; • Applications may only be downloaded from trusted sources such as Google Play or Apple's App Store; 1.1.3 Remote Wiping To improve the security of BYOD devices, they may be subject to a remote wipe if any of the following conditions are met: • The device is stolen; • The employee contract is terminated, and sensitive data has not been removed from the BYOD device; • A data breach has recently occurred; 1.1.4 Device Misplacement and Theft If you have lost your BYOD device or you believe it may have been stolen, the following rules must be agreed to: • You must report your device as stolen within 3 hours; • You must take full liability if the data is lost on the mobile device; If you have any queries about this privacy and cookies policy, please contact Clare Vale – Managing Director.
