We also acknowledge the contributions of Aboriginal Australians and non-Aboriginal Australians to the education of all children and people in this wonderful country we live in and share - Australia. 1
Phew! We made it. The last day of Term 4 is always a time of reflection. It has been pleasing that this term we have been able to celebrate the outstanding successes and achievements of our students: performances, festivals, numerous prizes won and excellent results, both inside and out of school. Most importantly we have enjoyed the opportunity to connect with others through a variety of events and celebrations. I feel as though I continue to come back to the ‘post COVID’ talk often in my speeches and addresses recently. This year has changed the perspectives of many people, including staff, students and the world population as a whole. While we have lived and are continuing to live through a pandemic, we have been exceptionally lucky that from a school perspective we can now do almost everything we might like to do. We are still limited by the number of parents we can have at indoor events and there are no interstate or international tours on the horizon. All in all, these are minor restrictions that I hope, across 2021, will be reconsidered. There have been many positives in 2020. There is a refreshed global mindset in which gratefulness for family, friends, our health, working as a team, and building community are all front and centre. I am proud of our school and of what we have achieved this year. We have been able to provide opportunity for students to continue to strive for their personal bests in a stable, calm and reliable environment. This Quarterly reflects the outstanding achievements, successes and contributions of our students. In spite of everything that has been thrown at us, the Rossmoyne SHS culture remains strong. As we move into the summer holidays and festivities, this year of all years, I wish you a restful and safe break that is filled with family, food, sun, and many happy memories. Thank you to the entire student population for another wonderful term, and massive gratitude to the RSHS families who supported Milanna Heberlethem along the way. See you all in the new year. Apart from all that magic, we all were able to learn something from this unique year. While we definitely have a lot more to learn next year, for now we’ve got our well deserved holiday break… A tip for any Year 11s, please don’t push yourselves too hard in the holidays with studies - learn to relax for the sake of next year!
