THE ROSSMOYNE QUARTERLY - TERM 2, 2021 PRINCIPAL’S ADDRESS As a new principal to Rossmoyne Senior High School this term I have been reflecting on these 11 weeks and all of the opportunities that have been available within the school. The students are the heartbeat of any school and I see a vibrant, engaged and active student cohort here at Rossmoyne. There have been many opportunities for our students to demonstrate their academic, creative and social sides throughout the term, and I am pleased that the early interruptions brought on by the pandemic did not impact our ability to provide these opportunities for most of the term. There have been music, dance and theatre performances across the term as well as sporting and social activities. Our debating teams continue to perform well, and our students have been able to demonstrate their school spirit through a number of house events. Of course, while all of this has been happening, staff and students have quietly gotten on with the learning and daily classes that are fundamental to our school. Rossmoyne is a great place for a young person to learn and develop, and we take our responsibility of growing future ready citizens very seriously. While this edition of The Quarterly will show many of the highlights from Term Two, there are many more things that occur around our great school that do not make these pages. This is because the school community see them as just the ‘normal happenings’ of a school. But, through the eyes of a newly arrived member of the team, I can assure you our ‘normal’ is extraordinary! With COVID restrictions reinstated in Week 11 we have entered into another period of uncertainty. Despite this, I hope that all students and families are still able to stay connected with friends and loved ones over the holiday break. Look after one another, stay safe and I will see Alan Brownyou next term. Principal - Rossmoyne Senior High School PAGE 3
