Description: Experiencing Selflessness

Only those who have recognized my love and experienced that love can assert that they have glimpsed my reality. For the path of Love is the royal road that leads mankind to me. Do not attempt to know me through the external eyes. When you go to a temple and stand before the image of God, you pray with closed eyes, don't you? Why? Because you feel that the inner eye of wisdom alone can reveal Him to you. Therefore, do not crave from me trivial material objects; but, crave for me, and you will be rewarded. Not that you should not receive whatever objects I give as sign of grace out of the fullness of Love. I shall tell you why I give these rings, talismans, rosaries etc. It is to signalize the bond between me and those to whom they are given. When calamity befalls them, the article comes to me in a flash and returns in a flash taking from me the remedial grace of protection. That Grace is available to all who call on me in any name or form, not merely to those who wear these gifts. Love is the bond that wins grace. Consider the meaning of the name Sai Baba. Sa means 'Divine'; ai or ayi means 'mother', and Baba means 'father'. The name indicates the divine mother and father, just as Sambasiva, which also means the divine mother and father. Your physical parents exhibit Love with a dose of selfishness; but, this Sai \"mother and father\" showers affection or reprimands only to lead you toward victory in the struggle for self-realization. 19 June 1974 ( Sathya Sai Speaks IX, 88-92)

HAPPY Maha Shivratri The lesson of Sivarathri is that devotees should foster good and sacred thoughts. They should be filled with godly thoughts. They should seek to become one with the Divine by reflecting on their inherent divinity. If you constantly chant the name of God, God realization will come in due course. Whatever other things they may possess, men suffer from lack of peace and bliss. These two can be obtained only from God. It is for these two that men should pray to God and not for anything else, because God alone can give them. When these are secured, all other things will come of their own accord by the grace of God. People should yearn for God. All other desires are worthless. Divine Discourse: Feb 26, 1998

In this Edition, we will move onto on a 3 -Step Formula to practice Law of Attraction more deliberately. STEP 1: IDENTIFY YOUR GOAL Know what is the specific goal you want to achieve - a job, a house, a character trait or just anything you feel is needed for your Higher self. Analyse the necessity of it first - why do you want this? Because of family needs? Because your friends have it? Ask yourself why because only with proper intention and purpose will you achieve what you ask for. STEP 2: GIVE YOUR GOAL, ATTENTION Attention is mostly overlooked by people. The attention given to specific goals basically mean the energy. As we mentioned in the pervious edition, the energy we place. into is the vibrational frequency that aids to attract the same thing in return. A tool that can help in giving attention are using affirmation Say these affirmations out loud in front of a mirror or post-it-notes Read next page >

STEP 2: GIVE YOUR GOAL, ATTENTION ... Use lines like, \"I'm in the process of ... \" Example: I'm in the process of creating an ideal family. I'm in the process of enjoying my life. I'm in the process of learning a new thing. STEP 3: ALLOW IT Allowing is simply the absence of negative vibration and Doubt is a negative vibration. Allowing is the MOST IMPORTANT STEP in the Deliberate Attraction process. Most of the time, we would be the main block in allowing abundance from flowing as we have a lot of self-doubts and insecurities saying am I worth this? Will I ever get it? and etc. This comes from some limiting beliefs we were brought up with or even learnt along the way. Start with an intention of \"I can do this on a daily basis and change things slowly\". Remember that we are deeply wired by these belief systems and it will take some time to overcome.

The Pilgrimage

One day, when the Princes of Dasaratha came of age, they went on a pilgrimage to learn the knowledge of the spiritual, as well as high moral culture. The princes were brought by Sumanthra around the kingdom, to learn of the condition of the people, and the holiness of sacred places. The king felt it is best to instill devotion and reverence to the divine within his sons, so they do not falter to urges and desires.

Preparations were made for their pilgrimage, and the princes, Sumanthra, the King and Queens were all joyed by the thought of the princes partaking in this journey. On the day of their departure, the princes got their blessing from their parents, the palace and kingdom resounded with shouts of victory and joy, as the princes left on their journey of enlightenment.

As the days, weeks, and months went by, the princes explored vast lands, explored every temple and holy grounds, and learnt the history of each place they set foot on. Sumanthra was pleased by their curiosity and inquisitiveness that he gladly answered any questions raised by the princes. Along their journey they had opened their eyes to the plight of the people, and their sufferings. The princes, as noble as they were, would

always do what they could to set things right for the people they encountered. Stories of the princes’ pilgrimage were often brought back to Ayodhya by special couriers. The Queens would become anxious whenever the couriers were delayed, but Vasishta would always reassure the Queens that the princes were happy and healthy, and they would soon be returning to Ayodhya. As the Princes' return grew

near, arrangements were made to welcome their return. The people of Ayodhya were filled with joy, waiting eagerly for the princes’ return! On the day that the princes and Sumanthra returned, they were greeted with petal strewn roads, the musicians rejoiced, the brahmins recited hymns, and the Queens were waiting with longing eyes. The princes ran to their mothers and fell at their feet, as tears of joy rolled

their cheeks. There was an ethereal glow on the faces of Sumanthra and the princes, as they set foot into the palace. The King and his Queens were thrilled and celebrated the return of their sons, by making offerings to the gods, and arranging a magnificent banquet. They were eager to hear the tales of the princes’ pilgrimage, and listened to them with such enthusiasm and devotion. Content by : Chandramauli Design by : Sharwein

What is Love? If one word could sum up the essence of Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s life and teachings, that word would be “love”. Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s life, His message, His ideals, and His humanitarian works can all be enshrined in one word—Love. His life is His message, and His message is love. He is truly the incarnation of love. He says, “God is love; live in love,” and exhorts us to “Start the day with love; fill the day with love; spend the day with love; end the day with love—this is the way to God.” Just as the moon can be seen only by moonlight and not with the help of a candle, God who is the embodiment of love, can be experienced only through love. “But this love,” Baba says, “is unconditional, pure, selfless love which is directed towards God with one-pointedness.”

What is Love? In this world, no other virtue is greater than love. Love is Truth. Love is Righteousness. And love is wealth. This world originated from love, is sustained by love, and ultimately merges in love. In the phenomenal world, love takes many diverse forms and provides humans with a wide range of experiences. While the forms of love vary depending on the relationship, the Principle of Love does not. Swami enumerates the different forms of love that human beings experience and He delineates how human love differs from Divine Love. Human love is temporary and is based on attachment and affection. Divine Love is pure, selfless, and enduring. Swami tells us that true bhakti (devotion) is love for God. We must cultivate such love and become embodiments of pure love.

Wishes SRI SATHYA SAI UNIVERSITIES \"When any educational or medical institution is established, the sole aim is to make a business of it. There are few who are ready to set up institutions to provide free facilities for the poor. Therefore, from the start we decided to set up a hundred-crore hospital near Prashanthi Nilayam. Even as higher education is free here, 'higher medicine' also will be free. People spend some lakhs to get heart surgery done in the U.S. What is the plight of the poor? Who looks after them? If they go to the cities, they will not get even basic medicine. Recognizing this fact, we have launched this big hospital project. Whether it is heart bypass operation, a kidney transplant, a lung operation, brain surgery or eye surgery, everything will be done free. This has been decided upon from the very start of the project. The hospital will be opened on November 22, 1991.\" - SRI SATHYA SAI BABA · Almost 23 Programmes were offered by The Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning for Diploma, Postgraduate ,Professional, Research and Undergraduates. Places Swami Visited Kashmir “Swami had been to Kashmir for the first time in The Kashmir trip now seemed to be closer to reality 1957, but that was a big group and the trip was than ever before. Apparently, it seems, the trip was very short. Then, Swami hardly saw any of the going to materialize because of the sincere efforts captivating scenery of Kashmir,” says Mrs. of Mrs. Ratanlal and Mr. Sohanlal. But this was not Ratanlal, who came to Swami nearly half a even a quarter of the whole truth. Like all God’s century ago and since then has been blessed with Work, what could be seen and understood was only the Lord’s close proximity. “So, around 1979, we the tip of the iceberg; that it was, in reality, a started praying to Swami again. ‘Swami, let us go Divine Master Plan that was unfolding was not to Kashmir. Please, let us go to Kashmir.’ But obvious to many. The story of the Kashmir trip Swami did not relent. Still, we persisted and were actually dated back to as early as 1970. hopeful. So I asked Mr. Sohanlal to do all the “I was in my XII grade, studying in Brindavan at ground work before we prayed to Him again. Mr. that time,” recalls Mr. Ramkrishna Reddy, who has Sohanlal personally visited Srinagar, the summer been a Teacher at the Sri Sathya Sai Higher capital of the State of Jammu and Kashmir, to Secondary School for more than 25 years now. “The survey the place and select suitable year was 1970. We were all preparing to write the accommodation for Swami.” all-important public examination, and often Swami used to tell us to study well. The hostel at that time \"If you secure first class, I will take you to had 30-40 boys in all and Swami used to interact Kashmir……” We were overjoyed, but at the same with us a lot, and I remember one day I noted down time did not believe it entirely. Swami just wants in my dairy that Swami has already told us 30 to motivate us, we said to ourselves. Swami then, times to study well. And then, one evening, Swami moved a few steps, stopped and turned. “… not came into the hostel and said: “Boys, study well and only in studies, but in Discipline and Devotion secure first class in the examination. too you should secure a first class”. Our dreams now crumbled completely. Securing first class in all three – Duty, Devotion and Discipline – and matching up to His expectations was no mean task. This is just a ‘divine eyewash’ to enthuse us, we were convinced.” And again, 1975 passed and many years after that rolled by too, Kashmir was elusive as ever, confirming the belief of the long-timers. It was only a divine ‘motivational tool’, the boys had concluded. Still, inside many, Kashmir remained a highly mental activity: a dream unrealised, a desire unfulfilled, a goal unattainable — that is, till 1980. Let us now return to Mr. Kamal Sahwney:

Places Swami Visited Kashmir ‘We are going to Kashmir on the 1st of June. Get yourself prepared with some warm clothing,’ said the Lord. \"Kashmir! A dead and buried concept was resurrected, revived, nay pulsating with life and the warm assurance of the Lord. He smiled the smile of Knowing All. ‘Top secret!’ I was advised not to divulge this information to anyone since the party fortunate enough to travel with Bhagavan was small (due to reasons of providing accommodation etc.,) and there were no prospects of enlarging it with people flocking the beautiful valley. Carefully protecting this treasured possession, I came out and stood most unassumingly amongst the rest. \"Weeks rolled into days and days — with thunderous speed — into hours filled with anxiety. The visit could be canceled. The ubiquitous explanation \"you know how things are\" could crop up any moment. It was, as with a patient in the throes of the final end, a touch and miss chance. Finally, through the tension-packed days, through the latent gloom of a possible cancellation, through purchases and packing, the 1st of June arrived. ‘One, two, three… seventeen… plus Myself - eighteen members,’ counted the Lord on the morning of our departure. ‘18 chapters of the Bhagavad Gita. 8+1=9, Divine Number. Very good!’ I could hardly believe it! What glories and wonders would we see? What marvels and mysteries would we witness? What leelas and mahimas would we observe? What grandeur and glory would be revealed? These were the thoughts that floated in our minds as it was announced: ‘Fasten your seat belts.’ The engines roared, the wheels rolled, the plane accelerated, and we were airborne — to Kashmir! A promise had been fulfilled.”

The Transformation

The King and his Queens noticed a change in the boys after the pilgrimage. The change was surprising to them, but they felt that the princes would return to their normal behavior over time. They observed their children with great attention, however even after several days had passed, the boys did not change. Rama stayed indoors most of the time, refusing the comforts and the luxuries of the palace. He was

intently contemplating on God, and his brothers followed him as well. They never left each other's company, and were always together. The Queens were worried and did what they could at finding out why their sons were behaving this way. However Rama would answer them by saying, “This is how I am, why do you need to know why I am like this?” The Queens, as worried as they were, told the King of their

behavior. The King asked the boys to be brought to his apartments. The sons, who previously would have rushed in to greet the King, took longer than usual to reach the chambers, and this worried King Dasaratha. As the princes came into the room, the King was filled with joy, and asked them several questions, however the boys only replied with little words. The King asked Rama why they wouldn’t speak. He even offered to get

them anything they needed. However Rama responded that he was happy and needed nothing more. King Dasaratha became upset as tears began to swell in his eyes, and he sent the boys back to their rooms after telling them how to behave properly. Dasaratha consulted Sumanthra and asked him if he knew what had happened to the boys during the pilgrimage. Sumanthra joyfully replied, that nothing bad had

happened to the princes, and that all of their wishes were honored. Sumanthra also told the King that the princes never informed him of anything that they were unhappy about. Finding this hard to believe, the King insisted that something had changed about the princes. Sumantha then offered to talk to the princes himself, to see if he could find out what was wrong. Sumantha and the princes were talking for a long time

to understand why they were behaving differently. He noticed the lively spirit that the princes had during the pilgrimage was gone, and he pleaded to them with tears. Rama only uttered, that there is no reason for him being this way, as it is nature. He had no desires, no wants, and no anxiety. Unable to do anything, Sumanthra went to the King with a heavy heart, and informed him that they should invite Sage Vasishta to

consult the princes. The King and his Queens made the necessary preparations upon Sage Vasishta’s arrival. Vasishta was met with tears from the Queens, who were upset about how the boys were behaving, and pleaded to Vasishta to find out why. Vasishta focused his thoughts, and gave an assuring answer to the Queens. He said that there was nothing wrong with the boys, and that they were not ordinary children.

The princes were free from worldly desire, their minds were cleansed, and Vasishta reassured the Queens that he would meet the boys. Pleased by the Sage’s words, the Queens and the King arranged for Vasishta and the princes to meet. Rama was hesitant at first, but after Lakshmana’s advice, the princes readied themselves to meet Sage Vasishta. Content by : Chandramauli Design by : Sharwein

Ladies Day Sathya Sai Baba initiated Ladies Day celebrations to emphasise to the whole world the crucial role of women in society. He has emphasised that women have a special duty to restore reverence and right action in the home. In Prasanthi Nilayam, Ladies Day is celebrated on the 19th November each year. Contemporary society is focused on the external world, including physical appearance, acquisition of wealth, status, selfishness, and chasing temporary pleasures. The world needs its women to fulfil their sacred duty more than ever. God has given women enormous strength and Swami has emphasised that women have the capacity to transform the home and also society. Women as Agents of Change Sathya Sai Baba makes some very powerful statements about the strength of women and the role of women as agents of change. He describes the innate sacred qualities of women as patience, fortitude, sacrifice, compassion, love and repositories of truth and culture. He teaches that in the Bhagavad Gita, it is revealed that women have seven kinds of powers whereas men have only three, highlighting that the basis of prosperity and happiness comes from women being honoured and respected. As well as having the capacity and the responsibility to transform the home, Swami reveals that women also have the power to change society. He indicates that the current degradation of society is because there is no encouragement for women to pursue these high ideals. He states that when women come up in society, the whole world will become sacred. Ladies Day has been heralded by Sathya Sai Baba as an opportunity to remind women to develop Self-confidence and Self-respect. Self-confidence is the first step towards Self- realisation and a woman cannot transform her family or society unless she is aware of her own innate divinity. Sathya Sai Baba acknowledges the many obstacles in the path of most women in the development of this Self-confidence and the pursuit of their spiritual development. He urges men to recognise and honour the importance of women as sacred agents of transformation of the world.

Women as Leaders Along with the embodiment of divine qualities comes the responsibility of women to assume leadership roles in the restoration of values-based living, peace and harmony. Sathya Sai Baba makes it clear that women have the strength and qualities to be leaders in all aspects of society–family, community and nation. “Women are capable of ruling the nations and even the whole world if they make up their minds. Men should not consider women as mere slaves. Today our country is on the downslide because we take our women very lightly. There is nothing in this world that women cannot achieve. Recognising the nature of such women we must encourage them and give them equal opportunities in society. No such encouragement is being given today. Men do not tolerate women joining together for a good cause in an Organisation. Because of their own selfish interest, men are unable to recognise the good that women can do to the society.” Divine Discourse, November 19, 2001 Reflections on the Importance of Ladies Day What legacy do we want to leave our sons and daughters regarding the sacred role of women? As women, are we teaching our sons and daughters by our own example our sacred role as embodiments of divine love? Are we demonstrating in the home the values of truth, love, peace, right conduct and non-violence? Do we demonstrate the value and respect we place on ourselves as women and are we reaching our own potential to be an example to our daughters? Are we demonstrating to our sons the value we place on womanhood so that they will in the future respect their own wives as partners and as mothers? As men, are we honouring and respecting the women in our lives? Do we express appreciation for their sacrifice and selflessness? Do we show our daughters by the manner in which we treat our wives and all women the reverence and respect due to women so that they will recognise and value these same qualities in a future husband? Through acting on such reflections we will be living by the highest teachings, enabling our own transformation into the divine beings we really are. Thus, women by their own transformation will also help transform society. Written By: Lacshen Designed b By: Kirthiga © SathyaSai.Org/Ladies-Day

Translation: Are You Happy? For over 20 years I have been chanting the Gayatri Mantra. Swami had reminded us time and again that you can forget other mantras but you must never forget the Gayatri mantra. In early Sept this year my centre Spiritual coordinator requested my help to be like an MC for our online Gayatri chanting session on Sunday the 12 th. Reluctantly I accepted as I had many projects to work on and furthermore I had to wake up latest by 5:20 a.m. to show my face online by 5:50 a.m.

So on Saturday night I set 3 alarms to make sure I wake up early the next day to get ready as I take these sessions seriously. When our group chanting started sharp at 6:00 a.m. I noted that there were only 7 of us. So I was thinking - Aiya! With this kind of response how do we expect to heal the world? Sigh! Anyway the photo of Swami was the backdrop and the sight of Swami was so uplifting. By 6:40 a.m. the chanting for the mantra for 108 times came to an end and I was feeling so relieved.

For the next 25 minutes I was busy checking all my Whatsapp messages. At 7:04 a.m. I received a message - Hi Doreen. I was thinking it is so unusual to receive a message from this acquaintance overseas so early on a Sunday morning. Anyway I replied - Good morning my dear Sister. Just concluded our chanting session to pray for healing of the world. 2 minutes later she replied - Chant for me please. I've been having suicide thoughts this morning. Alarm bells started ringing in my head.

Why? For the last 4 months I was organizing webinars as a Community service for youths, teenagers and their parents, teachers and counsellors. One of the areas the Psychologists and Counsellors touched on was 'How to handle a person who mentions that he/she wants to commit suicide'. Wow so quickly now I am being tested? So I called her immediately and spoke very carefully with this acquaintance for 1 hour thinking of all the pointers I had learnt from the psychologist.

By 8:00 a.m. this acquaintance had found some solutions through our discussion for her tight financial situation and I had connected her to someone who could help her handle her properties in Malaysia. She was stuck as she could neither sell nor rent out these for almost two years now mainly due to the lockdown and she could not come back to Malaysia. Just before we ended our conversation she asked me - Doreen do you know why I sent you that Hi Doreen Whatsapp? Actually I wanted to text 'Happy Birthday' to a friend and then end it all. But when I checked for my friend's contact information, her new profile photo was a picture of Sai Baba. Immediately I thought of you and I Whatsapp you instead.

I was stunned as my personal doubts of how 7 of us could heal the world by chanting so early in the morning was now cleared. Yes the vibrations of our chanting had reached out to this lady in another country just when she was having suicidal thoughts. Never ever doubt the words of Swami and the power of the Gayatri mantra! Yes Swami never forgets a selfless act - This lady who is not a devotee flew in to Malaysia to help me with our State level Mid autumn celebration in Sai School in Sept 2018 and 3 years later Swami's Leela saved her. Are you happy? This was actually the first question I was supposed to ask teenagers at

the beginning of my webinar in August. Now I am asking you - Are you happy ? Whether it is a Yes or a No, please recharge your batteries daily if you are busy by chanting the Gayatri mantra as follows:- 3 times in the morning when you wake up; 3 times as you are having your bath; 3 times before you go to bed. Feel free to chant the Gayatri mantra anytime when leaving your home, driving out in your car, before starting your work, before you start your journey or signing important documents, before any function, or in times of crisis and anxiety. Always Be Happy ! Jai Sairam !
