Chocolatier Emmy Jones

Have you ever wanted to spend your days molding chocolate into the figments of your imagination? Well, then being a Chocolatier is for you! Chocolatiers make art out of chocolate, you can go big, - make giant sculptures out of this creamy stuff - or go small, and craft truffles, solid chocolate, and chocolate covered fruit. Some chocolatiers use molds from manufacturers, and some make artistic molds from their own hands. If you want to work for yourself, then you’re in luck! Most Chocolatiers work for themselves, (although some work for large companies) so you can be your own boss! Being a chocolatier is very rewarding, but you have to be willing to work hard, especially during the holidays. Even though being a chocolatier isn’t for everyone, those who love it feel like they have truly found the spice of life!

Chocolatiers work in a kitchen. Often times, they are surrounded by loud machinery that makes, cooks, and molds the chocolate. They aren’t outside often, because they have so much work to do in the kitchen. They work long, hard hours making and sculpting the chocolate.

There are many skills that chocolatiers need to be successful at their craft. Some may even surprise you! It is extremely important to be creative. If you aren’t creative, you won’t make anything new! Chocolatiers also need to be able to work under pressure. They need to have physical strength - they have to tote around lots of chocolate - and they need to be mentaly strong, because perfectly recreating the same thing over and over again is very tedious. Chocolatiers also must be very patient and have a good eye for detail.

Chocolatiers earn a large range of salaries, depending on who you work for, how much you work, and how much chocolate you sell. The average annual salary for a chocolatier is $42,410. The average hourly wage is $20.39. $15
