STUDENT’S MAGAZINE 2019 - 2020 Mohamed El Fassi Junior High School My dear students, I would like to thank you for making another wonderful school magazine. This school year magazine is so special since we have lived through a pandemic and we have had to move from face to face learning to distance learning. We have learnt a lot from this experience and we are really amazing to face the obstacles and to use the 21st century skills to overcome all the challenges. What is also special about this school year is that we succeed to connect our school, which is located at the heart of the old medina, with a school called Nendrum college in Northern Ireland in the UK and we exchange visits to both schools, Mrs Hannah Park and I to bring together two different classrooms. We have also done so many activities thanks to our Mate circle and GNG (Global Nomads Group) which just make our school open to global learning and make students become global citizens who are ready to participate in the welfare of their community. I’m really so proud of you. Many thanks to the school head teacher si Driss BenYassine for his support and encouragement. Bunch of thanks and gratitude to Mr Zouhir Chahbi, the regional director of the directorate of Fez/Meknes for his support and for facilitating my travel to the UK in November, 2019. Without his help I wouldn’t make it to there And I can’t forget the emotional support of the students’ parents association. Thank you all for the making up of the 15th issue of student’s magazine. Your teacher Ms Nezha Youssefi 01

I also like sausages, beef and eggs. My favorite drink is tea and my favorite dish is “pastilla”; it’s a Moroccan typical dish. People eat it on special occa- sion like wedding. There are two types of pastilla: the sweet one made with chicken and a salty one made with fish. I like the salty pastilla; it’s so deli- cious. STUDENT’S MAGAZINE 2019 - 2020 Mohamed El Fassi Junior High School Alone by Salma Bennani I remember when I was seven or eight years old, I was new at school and I was looking for some new friends, so I saw a girl and I went to talk to her: -Hi! I’m a new student and I’m looking for some friends, can we be friends? But she looked at me in a weird way and she said:” No! I don’t want to be your friend! You’re ugly and maybe you’re stupid too! Get away from me!” That broke my heart. It felt like a dead tree that needed some love and care to revive it. I was asking myself all the times: “Am I really ugly?” “Am I stupid?” But after few months, I knew that girl was wrong and that I was smarter than her and that everyone is beautiful. The lesson of my story is that never listen to negative people around you 16

STUDENT’S MAGAZINE 2019 - 2020 Mohamed El Fassi Junior High School VII-Distance learning: Corona Virus lessons Hi! My name’s Aicha and I’m Moroccan. Ok, in this difficult moment, I want to talk about a virus that we didn’t know before; it’s the corona virus. This virus, in my opinion, is a miracle from God because it teaches us so many things like studying home through distance learning, loving one’s family and helping each other. It’s a good thing because I read books and I stay safe at home. Moreover, this virus makes the environment less polluted because people don’t use their cars anymore. Sent to me through messenger 21

STUDENT’S MAGAZINE 2019 - 2020 Mohamed El Fassi Junior High School My name’s Hiba Sakine. In my opinion, the corona virus is an affliction from Allah because so many things change in our daily life. I can’t go to school and meet my friends. Now I know the importance of my teachers and of education, but I am learning online and I have time to read books and help mom in the house. Sent to me through messenger March the14th was the first day of Quarantine in Morocco…stay at home, study at home…everything is done at home that it was so boring and hard in first days but quarantine teaches me too many things like: To be near my family To learn cooking To develop my personality and determine my desires and thinking about my future To discover my hidden hobbies (cooking, drawing, making videos, montage…) Covid19- helps the planet to fight pollution I want to thank all the doctors and all the nurses in the world because they left their families and went to fight the corona virus. I want to thank this virus because it makes me know too many things and I wish that this virus teaches all the humans on this earth a big lesson. By Salma Bennani 22
