Gandhi Jayanthi is celebrated on October 2nd every year inremembrance of Mahatma Gandhi, who is the father of our nation.Mahatma Gandhi is also known as Bapu in India for hisunforgettable contributions and struggles for the freedom of theIndians. The day is also memorable as it is the birth date of oursecond Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, who had also played avital role for the Indian Independence.Al Saad Indian School celebrated this day by conducting a specialassembly. The assembly was conducted by the students of grade1 C. The Assembly started with the prayer song by the studentsof grade 1 C. Angel Dinesh did the compeering for the assembly.The Prayer song was followed by the Quran recitation which wasdone by Mohammed Tabish. The Bhavan’s Pledge was told byMohammed Tabish and Hannah Maria Anoop, Harleen Kaur,Rakshana Sampath Kumar , Bhoomika Abhilash , Jairus Paul andKhush Yadav read out the news. Bhoomika Abhilash cameforward to read out the Bhavan’s corner. The Bhavan’s cornerwas followed by a wonderful and informative speech delivered byShivangi Seghal detailing the importance of the day. Aswath Vimalwas dressed up as Lal Bahadur Shastri and Srinikesh was dressedup as Mahatma Gandhi. Then, our beloved Principal Ma’am,Ms. Leena Menon congratulated the students for the wonderfulassembly and also spoke about the importance of the day. Theassembly ended with the U.A.E National Anthem sung by thestudents.



Painting competition based on the topic ‘save energy’ wasconducted on 4-10-2017.grade-1 to grade-10 participated in the competition.as per the cbse notification 4 entries (result & entry photosenclosed) falling in the category mentioned by CBSE was send tothe bureau of energy efficiency (bee), sewa bhawan, New Delhi.from the competition 3 best entries was selected from eachcategory (humming bird, bulbul, cuckoo, kingfisher) and the resultwas published on 28-10-2017 (result sheet & programme photosenclosed).Thanking YouMahesh P.Art Teacher

World Teachers' Day, also known as International Teachers Day, isheld annually on October 5. Established in 1994, it commemoratesthe signing of the 1966 \"Teaching in Freedom\". \"EmpoweringTeachers” is the theme of this year's (2017) World Teachers' Day,celebrated around the world since 1994 after the UNESCO/ILORecommendation.Al Saad Indian School Celebrated the International Teachers Day onOctober 5th in the school Auditorium.It was a short celebration which was hosted by Grade 9 StudentsThere were matches and games, and the best of all The FabulousFashion ShowIt was a fun filled day where the teachers were made to feel spe-cial.



Literary competitions are a platform for the students to express their creative pursuitwhich offer a chance for them to develop and hone their latent skills. The National Children Science Congress school level competitionwas held on 12th October 2017 in our school .Three teams hadparticipated in the competition, two teams from the senior level andone team from the junior level. Two judges had evaluated theirprojects and Team 1(Grade IX) from the senior level and grade fivestudents of junior level had qualified to participate in the next phaseof the competition. Students unveiled their innovations and scientificknowledge through this competition.

Open House is an event when the school opens its gates to the parents, thusgiving them an opportunity to have an open conversation with the teachersregarding their wards achievements and overall performance. Al Saad IndianSchool had its second Open House for the Academic year 2017- 2018 on 14thOctober, 2017 from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm. The Open House went on well. Allthe queries and suggestions given by the parents were considered for furtherimprovement of the school. The students of the higher grades had put up stallsand the money collected was used for charity. Parents had an orientationprogramme on Moral Education (MEP) in the A/C Auditorium, which was takenby the Principal, Ms. Leena Menon at 12.00 pm after the Open House. Parentswere briefed in detail about the importance and the pivotal role the subject willhave in shaping their wards into a better human.



The school had its open house for the term on 14/10/2017, and the event wasmarked by the various stalls put up by the students at the school entrance.This was another such event where the school provides children enoughspace to explore, learn and grow by themselves. Entrepreneurship educationbenefits students from all socio economic backgrounds because it teaches kidsto think outside the box and nurtures unconventional talents and skills.Furthermore, it creates opportunity, ensures social justice, instillsconfidence and stimulates the economy. The students of grade 6A and 7B tookthe opportunity of setting up different stalls and all the money raised wasgiven in for charity.The stalls included mehndi stall, face painting stall, on the spot glass paintingsand food stalls in which a range of food items from juice to fried rice wereavailable. The students enjoyed keeping their stalls active by canvassing theparents who were coming to the open house and were able to sell almost allthe items. The money raised was handed over the principal.The following students of grade 6 A and 7 B participated in the stalls:Vinayak , Aditya Ajay, Pranav Madhu, Mohammed Aahil, Mohammed Mansoor,Chris Biju, Devika Anil, Vijayalakshmy.S, Twinkle Maria Shibu, Deeya Singh,Lavanya Loganathan,Lena Mary Jane, Anushka Ann, Ann Maria Tom, Minsa Parveen, Sivani Dileep,Diya Giri and Abishka Gaire.



World Food Day is celebrated every year around the world on 16October in honor of the date of the founding of the Food and AgricultureOrganization of the United Nations in 1945. We also celebrated worldfood day in our school by conducting a special assembly on world foodday. The assembly was conducted in a well-organized manner by ourgrade 3B children and the main attraction was a speech on world foodday by Adwaith Vimal. Anchoring of the programme was done by Ishaanand Sana Fathima. The whole class recited the prayer song in amelodious way and the holy Quran was recited by Zehal Samad. Theschool pledge was done by Tanishq and the news updates were given bythe team Jeswin, Harmain Zara, Sulthan, Mohammed fadal and SriddhaGirish.

An inter house poetry writing competition was held at Al Saad IndianSchool on 18th October 2017 for the students of grade 1 to 10. All thechildren participated in the competition. Shelbino Paul of grade 2 B wasadjudged as the best in Humming bird category. Hansikaa of grade 1Aand Arush Jane of grade 2B secured the second position.In Bulbul category Aashika Balaji of grade 4 A, Tanishq Pankaj Tardejaof grade 3 B and Avanthika Biju of grade 4B bagged the 1st, 2nd and 3rdprizes respectively.Samuel Binu of grade 7B was adjudged as the best in Cuckoo category.Second prize was secured by Adhi Raj of 7B and Jibin Babu of 7B. Thirdprize was shared by Mehul Jobi of grade 7B and Twinkle Maria of grade6A.In King Fisher category ,1st prize won by Parthiv Varma of grade 9A.Akash Vipin of grade 8 A and Mirza Mubarak of 8A secured the 2ndposition. Third prize won by Lidya Joseph of grade 8A.Kudos to all the winners!



Reading is interesting, we can make it more interestingby adding a bit of activities. The students of GR 2 had afun filled day on 24th and 25thOct, participating in theLibrary Activity - DUMB CHARADES on Book Titles. Thestudents were very excited and put up an excellent showacting out the book titles. The class was divided into fourgroups and so each child had a part to play. 25th of October was given as the final day for Hou se board decoration. Studentrepresentatives from each house adorned their house boards with the theme\"DIWALI\" AND \"NAVRATRI\" during break times. All stu dents were veryenthusiastic in decorating their house boards. The results were announced onthe very next day by the Principal Ma'am after class assembly. Pluto housebagged 1st prize, Athena house got second prize and Ju piter got third prize.

VENUE- Abu Dhabi University, Abu DhabiDate - 27.10.17Time – 9 AM to 5.30 PM.The second teachers’ conference was held at Abu Dhabi University, Abu Dhabi on 27thOctober 2017 in which about 600 teachers from more than eighty Indian Schools inUAE took part. 10 teachers from our School were also a part of the programme. Thetheme of the programme was ‘Let’s learn, Let’s teach and Let’s share with every one /let’s shape the world.”The inaugural ceremony started at 10 AM with prayer followed by the national anthemsof UAE and India. The opening remarks about the mega event were given byProf.Hussein Saber - Interim Dean, College of Business, Abu Dhabi University, AbuDhabi. Mr. Swavvab Ali – Director, Yup2 Events briefed about the teachers’ conference.Inaugural address was done by Ms. Smita Pant- Deputy Chief of Mission of India toUAE; which was followed by the felicitations by Dr M. Abdul Salam- Former ViceChancellor, University of Calicut, Kerala, India, Dr.Sheena Shukkur - Former Pro- ViceChancellor, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala, India, andDr Thakur. S. Mulchandani - UAE Chapter Convenor- CBSE Gulf Council and Principal– Sunrise English Private School, Abu Dhabi. Dr. M. Abdul Salam- Former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calicut stressedthe need of quality teachers in UAE as it is a fertile field for learners. As teachers are thearchitects of the nation they must be empowered with regular training and they must bepaid well. After the felicitations, a brief introduction about Abu Dhabi University wasgiven by Dr. Mohammed Razik Parakandi- Director of Accreditation and Associateprofessor of Management- Abu Dhabi University. Abu Dhabi University, its branchesand the courses which it offers under various streams were briefly introduced by him. The key note address was given by Prof.Waqar Ahamed –Interim Chancellor andProvost, Abu Dhabi university. He stressed the importance of the quality of teaching asfuture of our nation lies in teachers’ hands. The first featured session started after the inaugural ceremony. The session onthe topic- ‘Developing a growth mind set in teachers and students’ was led byDr.Sangeeth Ibrahim (Vice president, Head of learning and development, Businessexcellence-Sharjah Islamic Bank). He emphasized that the academic performance of thestudents in school is very important to get a safe and highly paid job in future. He alsoconveyed a message that the intelligence is not inherited but a person can improve it bysparking the brain centres. He emphasized the importance of giving proper

reinforcement and appreciation to students. As per his opinion two magical words thatall academicians should use to motivate their students are ‘YOU MUST AND YOU CAN’.Teachers must focus on and work on the poor performers and the poor performers mustbe transformed to higher level performers. The teachers should change the mindset ofstudents to make a difference. No child should be left behind. The session wasinteresting, informative and inspiring. After this session the conference dispersed forthe lunch. After the lunch, the prizes and certificates to ‘SUAAL-2017-RAMADAN QUIZ’winners were awarded. The students of various schools of UAE received the prizes andcertificates. This was followed by the second featured session on ‘Innovation culturethrough student centric approach’ by Dr. Petra Turkama, Assistant professor ofmanagement and Director of the innovation centre –Abu Dhabi University. During thissession she talked about five pillars of innovation, the application of better solutionsthat meet new requirements, 21st century skills- the skills of tomorrow and the variousinnovative teaching strategies following in the Abu Dhabi University. Byju’s- The learning App was introduced before the 3rd session. The third and the final featured session on the topic ‘Using the principles ofemotional intelligence to facilitate learning’ was presented by Ms. Aarti C Rajaratnam.Her presentation was done through various activities. Teachers were made to carry out afew activities and based on each activity, the different aspects of emotional intelligencewere explained. According to her, the teachers should show commitment and integrity tothemselves. They must do their work wholeheartedly which will enrich themselves. Ifthey do something halfheartedly or unwillingly, they feel exhausted and it will reflect ontheir work. The session was really inspiring, wonderful and enriching. She wasapplauded with a standing ovation by the teachers, Principals and the organizers. After this session, the principals of various schools were honoured withmementos and the teacher participants were awarded with certificates. On the whole, the conference was enriching and fruitful. We look forward tosuch sessions in the coming years too, which will inspire and motivate the teachers tomould the students to better citizens.



October 29th on Sunday from 10.30Am to 12.30Pm, I Sini.S.Nair, SpecialEducator of Al Saad Indian School ,Al Ain, participated in a workshop on‘’Unite Against Bullying’ ’conducted by the College of Education, UAEUniversity on behalf of the bullying awareness month at Crescent BuildingAuditorium, UAE University, Al Ain.The students from University presented a short sit regarding the topic bullyingin the campus and that gave a good idea about the types of bullying.After the short skit, a well -known clinical psychologist Dr. Ahmed Ainjjarexplained the topic with a plausible rich life experiences and with his profoundknowledge .He had gone through the topic and it included definition ofbullying, the types of bullying and the interventions how to overcome it. Andwas followed by the panel discussion, in which the eminent personalities fromAbu Dhabi ministry of Education and UAE University participated. The paneldiscussion was informative, professional and warm, so that everyone was able tolisten and involve in that.

ADEK have provided a new initiative for each of the students in Grade 3 and Grade 7 inpreparation of an international assessment.The “Question a Day” (QaD) initiative focuses on improving students cognitivereasoning skills.The ADEK QaD initiative requires each student to complete a Maths and Sciencequestion each day from Sunday to Thursday. This should be done as a daily homeworktask and without the help of any adults. The questions should take between 40 secondsto 2 minutes to complete and will become more challenging throughout the week. Theschool will receive a summary of results each week which informs the school ofparticipation and areas of development for the whole cohort of students to informfuture planning.It is expected of the participants that:they have experience in responding to questions in an online environment;they have experience in the type of questions that they are likely to be asked;they acquire test taking skills to maximize their capacity in correctly responding to thequestions;they be upskilled in responding to items that require a greater depth of understandingof concepts, and;The Question-a-Day program is designed to help students acquire the skills andstrategies needed to solve problems which require higher-order thinking.

I am Jaswanth Kumaar of Gr.9, I am Proud to be a Bhavanite, we are motivated insuch a way to innate our talents and individualities.The Purpose of education is to replace empty mind with open one .In this schoolwe are getting our space to tell our ideas and suggestions.My school is the most enjoyable place for me. I love all my teachers. They arevery kind and polite in correcting our mistakes. Our school tries to implement adifferent approach to impose studies on students. Students in our school are neverforced to study just for passing through. We have many theory sessions andpractical sessions to understand our subject concepts.
