Prerana Vol:6 Issue: 5 AL SAAD INDIAN SCHOOL SAMARPANA AND DANDIA NIGHT ‘An Evening for the Parents, by the Parents’ Samarpana, an evening of Art and Culture, is an event which is specially initiated to create a platform for parents to showcase their interest and talent in any chosen field beyond the daily routines of life and career. The much awaited event – the cultural extravaganza—was conducted this year as a twin function ‘Samarpana’- An Evening of Art and Culture and Dandiya night. The initiative was an epoch making event in the history of Bhavans Al Ain-Al Saad Indian School. It was a platform for our dear par- ents to showcase their latent talents. The evening was made more colourful with a variety of programmes organized by the parents which left the audience dumb-struck and the lovely moments were cherished by each and every one. It was an enriching experience for all those who had gathered in the school auditorium. The cultural programmes started off with a musical group performance by our guests for the day , Mr. Freddy Thangaiah [Drummer, Administrator at AAEC ], Mrs. Rachel Freddy [Guitarist] and Mr. Samuel Selvamani [Accordionist ] . The programme was hosted by Mrs. Aparna Rao, the mother of Shasha Mitra of 4B. Classical, semi classical group dances, cinematic dance, solo song and many programs were presented by our parents. Dandiya Raas is a special feature of the Navratri festival. Bhavans Al Ain celebrated the festival with the traditional ‘Stick Dance’ off Stage in our AC Auditorium. Our beloved Director Mrs. Divya Ramachandran and Principal Dr. Bhavna Gupta made the evening more special by their beautiful Dan- diya performance. Festivals refresh our life and fill it with some meaning. They also give us an opportunity for doing creative work. We expect many such bonding moments between the parents and the school in future too, and hope that more parents will ensure active involvement to make the programme invigorating. Prerana Vol:6 Issue: 5 AL SAAD INDIAN SCHOOL Green Audit workshop Green Audit workshop – At Environment Agency Building Date:- 22nd to 24th October 2019 The session started with the introduction about the need of saving the energy and the importance of educating students with the knowledge of awareness on waste management. It was discussed in detail that to provide the students hands on experience regarding this program and the ways of implemented in the school. It was instructed to the teachers that the pictures should be clicked during any activities related to this program and the evidences has to be filed in regular basis. Few videos were shown to provide the idea of these audits. The session progressed with the following topics in detail. The ideas and practices which are followed by other schools were shared. It was instructed that the school should maintain different types of bins to collect different types of wastes. It was advised that one class shall be involved in collecting the data and all the students shall be involved in the assessments. It was advised that the school shall involve parents also during the implementation. An audit is to be conducted in January 2020, the report of which is to be sent to an environ- ment agency on the month of January. This audit and reporting needs to be done every year. Devananda lead the assembly. It started at 7:45 am at the AC auditorium with the UAE national anthem followed by Universal prayer song by the school choir. Mr. Vinod conducted the warm up exercise.
