BLUE STAR INTER UAE SPORTS COMPETITIONBLUE STAR Al Ain organized various sports competi-tions in connection with the UAE NATIONAL DAYcelebrations, at the UAE UNIVERSITY STADIUM,AL AIN.The students of our School also actively participated inthe various competitions held there, and bagged manyprizes. The winners included the participants fromboth main school and the KG section. Evan Thomas,Krishnapriya P Vinod , Zher Tuli won prizes in the KGsection for 25 m race and balance walk.From the main school Sai Meenakshi of Gr 1 got firstprize in 25 m race. Shelbino Paul of GR 2 got 3rd in 25mrace. Abhinav Sashidharan of GR 9 and ShamalThayyil of GR 5 got 3rd in shot put in different catego-ries.One of our teachers, Ms. Raghi was also a part of thecompetition, winning in the balance walk and 100mrace. Another great achievement was the winning ofour junior football team. The senior football team gotselection for the semi finals.Kudos to all the winners!

BLUE STAR SPORTS COMPETITION

INTER SCHOOL QUIZ COMPETITION The Muslim Education Society , Al Ain Unit, conduct-ed an INTER SCHOOL QUIZ competition on the 3rd ofDec, in connection with UAE National Day celebra-tion.There were 8 schools participating in the competition.Akash Vipin and Thomas Joe Sheen of Gr 8 representedour School. It was a very good experience for the stu-dents to compete with a very brilliant set of students.Though they did not win they were able to understandand learn many things and be better prepared nexttime.

BHAVANS' GCC SPELL BEE- A stepping stone to spellbounding success BVB Spell Bee is a prestigious event for the Bha-vans' group of schools in GCC countries. It is an initi-ative undertaken by Bhavans – Middle East to empow-er the students with English vocabulary, spelling andcorrect pronunciation. The competition begins at theschool level. The candidates who come out first intheir respective categories in the GCC level competi-tions will be given mementos and cash prizes equiva-lent to INR 50,000 (Rupees Fifty Thousand).The school level championship of BVB Spell Bee;level-1 was held on Saturday 23 Sep 2017 in all theBhavans' Schools in GCC countries. The selection forthe next round was done on the basis of their marks.64 students were selected for the next level. The thirdround is the knockout level of Bhavans’ GCC Spell Beewhich is on Saturday 13 January 2018. It is basicallyan elimination stage of the championship. The topperfrom each category will be declared eligible to repre-sent the country in the Grand Finale 2018 to be heldon Saturday 20 January 2018.Rigorous practice will be given and we expect a winnerfrom each category this time.The name list of students who are selected for theknock out round is attached here.

LIBRARY ACTIVITYThe activity for the month was—to act as a publisher and speak for a minute to convince thepublic to buy the book. This activity was given tothe GR. 8 students. They were divided into fivegroups, headed by-Kavya , Santhwana S, MirzaM, Akash V & Thomas Joe Sheen.The team lead by Akash Vipin did an excellentjob, presenting the book “The HARRY POTTERSERIES “ by JK Rowling.

OPEN HOUSEOpen House is an event when the school opens itsgates to the parents, thus giving them an opportuni-ty to have an open conversation with the teachersregarding their wards achievements and overall per-formance. Al Saad Indian School had its third OpenHouse for the Academic year 2017- 2018 on 7th De-cember, 2017 from 4.00 pm to 6.30 pm. The OpenHouse went on well. All the queries and suggestionsgiven by the parents were considered for further im-provement of the school. The students of grade 7 hadput up stalls and the money collected was used forcharity.

4TH ANNUAL DAYOur School celebrated its fourth Annual Day on 15th ofDec, 2017 amidst great zest, vibrancy and elation.The Annual Day function was graced by the presenceof dignitaries Dr. Madhav Mohan, an internationallyacclaimed speaker and a management expert as thehonourable chief guest,Mr. Sooraj Ramachandran-DirectorBhavan’s Middle East,Ms. Girija Baiju–Principal -PIES Abu Dhabi,Mr. Nandakumar– Vice Principal (PIES Abu Dhabi),Ms. Jana Renjini HOD Fine Arts (PIES Abu Dhabi),and Dr. Sasi Stephen, President ISC Al Ain. The programme commenced with the lighting of theceremonial lamp by the dig-nitaries and the Principal ofthe School, Ms. Leena Menon.Ms. Smitha Vimal ,AcademicCo-ordinator (ASIS) formallywelcomed the gathering andthe eminent guests.

The School Magazine “Soch “was released by theChief Guest accompanied by Director Sir and Princi-pal Madam. Thomas Joe Sheen, the Cultural Captain of the Schoolintroduced the Chief Guest Dr. Madhav Mohan tothe gathering which followed the Chief Guest’s ad-dress.Next was the Prize distribution ceremony where thehonourable Chief Guest gave away the prizes to theIndividual champions of the cultural, literary as wellas Sports events. School Annual Report was read bythe principal Ms. Leena Menon which was followedby the Cultural Feista based on the theme— “:Maa–

The cultural extravaganza commenced with the Ani-mal dance by the tiny tots of GR. 1 and 2 depicting theMother Nature– fishes, animals and birds.An amazing performance of African Dance—Honouring mother and motherhood , by the boys ofhigh school dressed in Red and Black was one of thebest programme of the day.

The nine manifesta-tions of the GoddessDurga was very wellpresented in Classi-cal dance form. Fol-lowed by , a danceperformance pre-senting the bond be-tween Krishna andYashoda, and loveand respect towards our motherland also were shown by the children through various dance forms. The story of Thomas Alva Edison and his mother - dramatized by the children was yet another emotive performance.

It was a heartwarming sight to see mothers shedtears of joy when they were invited on to the stageto hand over the Diyas - representing darkness tolight.The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. SivapriyaNambiar, Staff Secretary and Teacher In Chargeof ASIS. The anchors of the programme Sasha Mi-tra, Adwaith Vimal, Diya Giri and Allen Paul dida commendable job .



ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR PARENTS.The school had conducted an orientation programmefor the parents of grade VI and VII students on 16thDe-cember under the leadership of the Principal. Duringthe orientation programme, principal discussed withparents about the change in the examination pattern ofCBSE, standardized common question paper used byBhavans, students dress code, completion and submis-sion of weekly worksheets, use of electronic gadgets athome, timely leave information about thechild ,dropping students on time etc. The Sen coordina-tor had also conducted a joint session for grade VI andVII regarding the problems and challenges of children and how to overcome it. The parents shared their problems and suggestions to the principal and the programme ended up with a happy note.

PARENTS CORNERGood morning Sir, I would like to sincerely appreciate the effortwhich was taken to make the annual day memo-rable and I am very glad and proud that my chil-dren were also a part of it. It was really com-mendable that all the children got a chance in theprogramme. To mention few were the Africandance, Durga dance, Thaye Yashoda, Patrioticdances, group songs were all awesome. All pro-grammes were marvelous and really colourful.The costumes were really eye-catching. Overallthe programmes were excellent and well orga-nized. Sir, we can understand the effort and the hardwork taken by you and your team, and hope wecan have this same spirit in the coming yearsalso. Respected Madam,CONGRATS TO YOU & YOUR TEAM!!!! Yourteam has been able to do a remarkable job onthe Annual Day with excellence. It is becauseof the co-ordinated ,dedicated efforts of yourteam that the day was a real tribute to allthe mothers----true to the theme---MAA!!! Weare aware that you have worked day &night , even on weekends to make sure thatthe program is executed with perfection.The inspirational speech delivered by thechief guest Mr. V.K Madhav Mohan , beyonddoubt was motivational & inspiring. Theschool report presented by the principal gavethe glimpse of academics & co-curricular ac-tivities of the school for one year, within theshort time span. Watching the tiny tots per-forming was a true treat to our eyes. Thefeedback was quiet evident by the tears ofjoy that rolled out from the eyes of the moth-ers on the stage who carried the light for-ward ---a feeling that is rare to get in today’sfast forwarded world.

I would like to thank you & your entire team fortheir dedication, hard work , the time & effortthat each of the faculty member has put towardspreparing the students for the evening. Our heartfelt gratitude & sincere thanks to Sethunathan Sirfor co-ordinating the program. We would alsotake this opportunity to thank the art team, cam-era, light & sound team, technical team, costume& make-up team, for making this program morecolourful & a visual treat.We highly respect all your efforts to bring out thebest from our children—which we might haveoverlooked. The NCLB policy gave every child anopportunity to perform on the stage along withtheir friends and also made every parent proud oftheir LITTLE STAR!!!The practice sessions alsogave them an chance to mingle with their seniors& juniors. It also provided them ample of skill de-velopment & learn more about team work & tosome even develop their leadership quality. Lastbut not the least we would like to thank the AVmedia to arrange for the live telecast in the classrooms , so that the students didn’t miss on anyperformances of their friends & siblings.

Dear Madam,Happy New Year 2018. thIt was our pleasure to attend 4 Annual Day whichin simple was “Amazing”, this email was quiet latebut it was with an intention to give our appreciationin the beginning of 2018 from a Parent who looks up-on the school as a guide, motivator and above allcomplete “Guru” for our child and for all children.Year by year whole team is getting matured andastonishing techniques were used including selectionof the Theme.

We personally felt management gave full freedom tobring out the best from Mr.Sethu Sir and all teachers.Everyone excelled and the sync teachers and studentshad was Phenomenal. Every kid thoroughly enjoyedtheir role and came out with flying colors and teach-ers on their part were masters and they inspired allchildren to develop enormous courage, better theircommunication and wipe out stage fear.Hats off ..and once again thanks a lot to Mr. SoorajSir, Al Saad Indian School Principal , Teachers & all.Thanking once again for the excellent performanceby the whole team.
