Communism/Marxism Communism is an ideology based on the belief of a society of the working class overcoming its property owning oppressors through revolution, resulting in a classless society where property is owned by the whole community and all people sharing the productions of goods. Marxism is a socialist ideology evolved from the interpretations of Karl Marx famous for his theories on capitalism and communism. Karl Marx’s idea that the working class should overthrow the capitalists class after establishing a society of classless citizens where all property should be owned by the state. (This ideology can also be known as scientific socialism or communism.)
Why Communism Evolved & What It Provided For People Communism evolved from party members who were disappointed with the Soviet Union and China and created their own independent program. Some of the benefits of Communism are mobilizing economic resources on a large scale quickier, execute massive projects, and create industrial power.
Communist Leaders From Our Past Karl Marx a German philosopher and economist, was considered the father of Communism. Collaborating with Friedrich Engels (a german socialist philosopher) they both called for a working class revolt against the capitalism and wrote two books together. Joseph Stalin a revolutionary and Soviet politician who ruled the Soviet union from the mid 1920s until his death in 1953. During his ruling he served as the General Secretary of the Communist Party and Chairman of the Council of Ministers both for the Soviet Union. Vladimir Lenin was a russian revolutionary, politician, and political theorist while serving as the head of government of the Soviet Russia and Soviet Union.
What Does Communism Provide For The People Of Today Communism has benefited the people of today in many ways… Here are some examples below: ● Helps close the gap between the poor and the rich ● Assurance of medical equipment ● Food supply is assured ● Social goals are more important than goals of small elites ● Lower unemployment ● Could improve the overall safety level in a country ● Communism can reduce social tensions in a society ● Everyone gets similar chances to succeed in life
Symbols Of Communism Symbols that represent Communism: ● Hammer and Sickle (the symbol on the communist flag) - Hammer represents the industrial working class, the sickle represents the agricultural workers and together they show unity of the two groups. ● Red Star - During World War II the red star was prominently used as a symbol of the Red Army troops of the Soviet Union. ● Red Flag - The Red flag itself can be associated with courage, sacrifice, blood and war but was first used as a flag of defiance. ● The Internationale - An anthem of the Communist movement and is the most universally recognized song in the world and has been translated in almost every language.
Utopian Socialism Utopian Socialism is a socialist ideology based on cooperative communities with improved working and living conditions for industrial workers. (Early socialists like Robert Owen and Charles Fourier had made attempts to create an utopian socialist community.)
Why Utopian Socialism Evolved & What It Provided For People Utopian Socialism evolved by socialists that were wanting to expand the principles of the French revolution in order to create more of a rational society. Benefits of Utopian Socialism is that it reduces poverty, creates free healthcare, creates a more equal society and can promote the protection of the environment.
Socialist Leaders From Our Past Robert Owen was an early socialist pioneer and advocated Utopian and Cooperative socialism. His New Lanark factories were a model for giving workers better conditions. Albert Einstein was a revolutionized modern physics but was also a supporter of socialism. In 1949 he wrote and published an article about socialism called “Why Socialism?” Tony Benn a son of a liberal politician, became more left wing and committed to socialism as time went on. During 1970 and 1980’s he was the leading figure of the British Labour party in the socialist wing.
Democractic Socialism Democractic Socialism is a political ideology that represents peaceful, evolutionary transition of a society from capitalism to socialism through a democractic means. (The map on the left is highlighting the democractic socialist of America.)
What Does Democractic Socialism Provide For The People Of Today Democractic Socialism has made the people of today believe in giving everyone the chance to find equal economic footing, free or low cost health care, tuition free public education, and universal child care.

Liberalism Liberalism is an ideology based on the importance of individual liberty and values of individualism, this includes individual rights and freedoms, self-interest, rule of law, competition, private property and economic freedom.
Modern Liberalism & Where It Exists Today Modern Liberalism is an ideology that had developed over time to address concerns with injustice and inequality made by a capitalist society, while also focusing on individual rights. Modern Liberalism exists today in places like Australia, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, Canada, Japan, Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Mixed Economy & What It Does For People A Mixed Economy is an economic system where free market principles are combined with some degree of government intervention, usually to moderate the boom and bust nature in the free market business cycle, regulate industries, and offer social welfare programs. In some mixed economies the government owns key industries like transportation, communications and utilities.

Conservatism Conservatism is a political and social idea promoting traditional social institutions with the belonging of culture and civilization.
Why Conservatism Evolved & What It Provided For People Conservatism evolved in the mid 1930s, individuals and politicians collaborated with businessmen to resist the liberalism of the New Deal led by Roosevelt. Conservatism aims to provide smaller federal deficits, lower taxes, favor school choice, and favors expansion of oil pipelines.

Fascism Fascism is an authoritarian system of government that includes extreme military, a belief in the rule of elites, and a totalitarian society. Fascism rejects the ideas of liberal democracy, communism and socialism.
