Therefore, it’s very necessary to treat every election as the answer to the change of our political landscape. Letter to the Editor Dear Editor, On behalf of the LGBTQ+ Members from Northwestern University, I am writing this to express my concern regarding the dress code policy, specifically its lack of gender equality and inclusivity for the LGBTQ community. As a member of this school community, I am deeply troubled by the school’s policy of enforcing traditional gender norms through its dress code policy. This policy has the potential to harm students who do not conform to binary gender norms, including transgender and gender nonconforming students. It is unacceptable that students are being forced to conform to traditional gender norms in a way that ignores the diversity of our student population. The school must recognize that there is no one way to express gender, and that students should be able to express themselves in a way that feels comfortable and authentic to them. Furthermore, the school’s policy of enforcing traditional gender norms is in direct opposition to the principles of equality and inclusivity. By creating a dress code policy that only allows certain types of clothing based on gender, the school is sending the message that some students are more valued than others. This is not only hurtful, but it also creates a hostile and unwelcoming environment for LGBTQ students. I hope for a reconsideration to the dress code policy and to work towards creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for all students, regardless of their gender identity or expression. -Anonymous LGBTQ+ Member

16 N OG ERTTTHO WK NEOS If there is a message, I want to convey to my fellow college students, that would be to see failure not as a negative outlook on life but instead as an opportunity to make improvements. Failure can give you a new pair of glasses, and your world will never be the same after that. Use your failure to remind yourself of your strength, the people who matter and care for you, your blessings, and your past wins. With this new outlook, go out there and do something you’re proud of. MARK ELDRICK DUABE I firmly believe that your diligent efforts will never betray you. I am someone who has a lot of scars, fears, insecurities also but I want you to remember that only courage has the power to save even your most hopeless areas. Release whatever is preventing you from moving forward. Be brave because being brave means being kind to yourself. Rei naly n joy o an i a The journey to achieve something may be full of twists and turns, but all you have to do is take it and figure out how it works. When it’s hard to keep going, remember your “Why” and let it be your source of strength. Start being patient and persistent about something you want. Practice and enjoy the process of learning from it. It is not difficult; you only think it is. All you need to do is love and appreciate the process. The desire to be great at it will eventually follow; you just need to keep pushing forward. c j mag n o l i a s al vado r Just continue what you already started. Improved and you will be great. You should find happiness in doing your talent even if people don’t believe at first. Don’t let your growth be stagnant, add up every learning, and look for the hard works and the support of your parents which brought you into your passion. J A M ES D AVI D S Eñ o ran Always set realistic goals and things to do in your day. Make a list and force yourself to do it. This will help you with deadlines: your studies will never pile up. Always say, “I can do it” to yourself, and believe me, you will. Also, feel no pressure at all when studying. Learning new information every day is fun and beneficial for you. Think about it that way, and you will not be bored or tired. KEITH MADRID Believe in yourself; that’s the first step. External factors might affect but you need to stand your ground and convince yourself that you can. Aspiring debaters and leaders should learn how to manage their time while focusing on their studies and manage their finances as well, because that will be the very start of how things are being compiled, and it will stress you out if you don’t know how to handle it, so start from the least thing and learn from the people around you. Eri c ka S ayo d As a leader, you need to have a constructive criticism ability in order to weigh everything, and not to impulsively plunge to uncertainty. It is not for clout or for fame seeking. It is about doing the things that would benefit the students more particularly the university itself. Also, you need to remember that you will come across people who will unjustly criticize you. However, don’t let it bother you. You need to always put in mind that you cannot please everyone, so just do what you believe is right. LESTER JOHN GACES
