Traditition With A Dash Of The Unexpected HOMECOMING 1984-1985 Even the steady downpour could not dampen the Husky spirit at the H. The candidates for Homecoming queen, who were sponsored by clubs, pa- raded around the football field. The candidates rode in decorated floats or converti- bles. Finnally, the traditional H was lit, and fireworks illu- minated the sky. Loyal Hus- kies became a part of an awe- some display of pride. At the assembly the Home- coming queen candidates were introduced: Jane Allred, Lichelle Ash ton, Monique Bartlome, Kim Butterfield, Emily Casper, Shauna Har- mon, Teresa Henrie, Dayna Jones, Robyne Kirk, Kris Long. Monique Moes, Julie Mondragon, Suzy Parcell, Shelley Peterson, Pamella Pollick, Nicole Robb, Stacy Shulsen, Charlene Skinner, and Holly Yates. Many past student body officers, and presidents were honored, and Dance Company performed to the theme song \"Tonight until the End of Time\". The excess of school spirit at the game against Brighton was enough to make any Husky proud. No one could have asked for a more exciting game as the mighty Huskies again defeated the Bengals, 17-16. During halftime Julie Mondragon was crowned Homecoming queen. In the 1984 Homecoming Assembly Michelle Duran dances to the theme song. 12/ Homecoming

Beyond Tradition And Triumph

The Homecoming Dance was sponsored by the Dance Company. Pink and yellow balloons, streamers and flow- ers decorated the Girls Gym. Although there wasn't a band, couples enjoyed dancing to the latest hits on records. Julie Mondragon, representing the Debate Club, reigned as Homecoming queen. Homecoming/ 15

Pasteured Delight! Husky Howl! This year Husky Howl was \"Where's the music?\" one of pure delight! Dudes and Dolls, was the theme. The Fu- ture Homemakers of America (FHA) sponsered and decorated the dance. Surrounded by the farmland, cows on walls and horses in the windows the hus- kies danced to Chicago and boo- gied down with Cyndi Lauper. With snow falling lightly on the parking lot the hitching booth attracted many people looking for a one night stand. Couples stood at the alter and exchanged vows as the groom placed a \"cracker jack\" ring on the bride's finger. Husky Howl is one dance that will not be for- gotten. \"We should have more dances on the stage!\" Hu ky Howl '17

Pref; creating just the right at- mosphere for the romantic Huskies dance with a passion for love evening. As couples walked in the LaFaette ballroom . along the balconies or talked among friends, she could be seen and felt illuminating the entire Hotel Utah with her ra- diance. The night was a total success. \"Remember the feeling\" was the theme for this year's Girl's Pref, which was held February 9, at the fabulous Hotel Utah. And while we \"remember the feeling\" of the romantic evening with our \"one and only\", we recall not only the Lafaette ballroom and holding him close, but also the places we ate. Do McDonafds or Hardees ring a bell? Or are you still drooling over La Caille, Mull- boon's, or The Heather? Whatever the place, the feel- ing is worth remembering (besides, when they said \"a man's heart lies where his stomach is\", they weren' t kid- ding). Afterwards, the couples dashed off into their cars and to top off the evening, took a final drag down state. Couples held each other close, to Re- member the Feeling. 20/Girls Pref

'~~ ~~~~ Anything Can Happen Stomps Friday night with two dol- lars in your pocket and some- one special on your mind, what can you do? Well, if you're in the mood for loud music and new friendships just drive on up to the school to a stomp and your night be- gins. After a few glances and a prayer or two the long awaited tap on your shoulder comes and the night moves on. Dancing to Wham and Alabama, feet-stomping, peo- ple jumping and lingering looks, this is certainly a night that will bring back many memories. As the music fades and the lights come flashing on, people begin slowly filing out when you open your eyes to realize you were dancing alone. Huskies got the beat. Wow! Look at the way he can move! Lets dance!!! Boy, how does she do that ? 22/ Stomps

A New Tradition Unfolded. MORP During the 1984-85 school year at Hillcrest a new tradi- tion unfolded, MORP, prom spelled backwards. A demand for more dances brought about this new dance. Oppo- site of Junior Prom's formal atmosphere this was semi-ca- sual. Morpers wore back- wards clothes along with jeans and sweatshirts. Formal dining was thrown away and replaced by soda crackers and colored water that came com- plimentary with your ticket. It was a girls or boys choice dance so it was attended by many. After the dance elegant dining was at Hardees, the K- Mart cafeteria, and 7-11 for four for a dollar hot dogs. People of all ages came to MORP. Morpers wore very bizarre attire. Catching up on the latest gossip. MORP/23

Hillcrest Junior Prom This year Junior Prom was held in a different place than the previous years, it was at Symphony Hall. On May 4th 1985, a Saturday, the Junior Prom turned out to be a great success with the band POR- TRAIT playing the dance music, PORTRAIT has played at Hillcrest numerous of times at other dances. The dance lasted from 8:00 to 11:00 dining was either be- fore or after the dance for the Juniors who attended, sopho- mores and seniors too. Being a formal night, tux- edos were rented from places such as Tuxedo Junction and Royal Formal Wear and the girls wore mostly long dress- es. Brad Johnston, says the dance was the most incredible prom he had ever been to and he hopes to return to next years Junior Prom. Ron Hatch wonders about the couple next to him. junior Prom is a night celebrated by all. Couples enjoy each others company. 24/ funior Prom
