SWA’s Glands – TAKING THE MARKET BY STORM!SWA’s revolutionary new STORM™ multi-use cable glands: BENEFITSQuicker, safer and easier to use than conventional CW glands! Fast- t | No need for a shroudThe new STORM™ range from SWA promises nothing less than a Suitable for multiple cable typesrevolution in terminating armoured and non-armoured SY & CYbraided cables. IP68 rated | Non-corrosive UV stabilised | Zero halogenO ering improved ingress protection (IP68) and faster tting overconventional armoured cable glands, the low-cost, UV-stabilisedSTORM™ glands can be used from -20°C to +80°C, give o no toxicgases in a re and are suitable for both armoured and non-armouredcable.SWA Marketing Manager Colin Fletcher said:“Our BS EN 62444:2013approved STORM™ range represents a major advance in cable glands, bringing together advanced design techniques and ultra-modernmaterials to o er substantial bene ts for installers. It’s an unbeatablecombination of speedy installation, advanced speci cation and lowcost: in fact, we believe that, in time, STORM™ glands might makeconventional glands obsolete.”STORM™ glands meet the IP68 standard – they are rated as\"dust-tight\" and protected against complete, continuous submersionin water. They therefore signi cantly extend the IP66 and IP67 ingressprotection typically o ered by other armoured cable glands.Every aspect of conventional cable glands has been re-thought and, ifnecessary, re-engineered to provide a better solution. For example, theSTORM™ glands feature an innovative anti-rotational design, whichallows the upper assembly to rotate independently of the brassarmour-clamping ring, so eliminating the damaging e ects of rotationon armour wire.STORM™ glands’ non-metallic outer bodies, means they need noshroud to protect against corrosion. The STORM™ range is available in two types, standard (with locknut &earth tag) and the popular Tauras version (with the Award WinningEarthingNut™ and crimp lugs). The non-metallic cap, upper body andlower body enclose the gland’s brass clamping ring and inner body, while the O rings and gasket are made from NBR (nitrile rubber).
