Refund Policy PearsonVUE, GED, HiSET Testing General Information• In the event that we cancel a class, we will Fairfield-Suisun Adult School is partnering with refund your full fee. PearsonVUE Network to offer accessible and secure certification for key industry certifications• If you withdraw from a class prior to the first class from leading IT programs such as Cisco, CompTIA session, you may choose a full credit voucher or EMC, HP LPI, Oracle and VMware. In addition, a refund. students may take the High School Equivalency testing options: GED or HiSET. Here is just a sampling of what we have to offer: Free childcare for parents while in class—We began this program last year and it was a huge success! We are pleased to offer it again this year. It is our commitment to support our students and provide the best educational environment at all times.Message From the Principal High School Diploma and Equivalency classes—These individualized classes utilize a blended approach that combine both classroom instruction and an online curriculum to support students in obtaining the necessary skills and credits to complete their program. The Adult Basic Education, High School Diploma, and Equivalency classes are all offered at no cost so now is the perfect time to continue your education! English Language Acquisition (ELA) classes—One of the most popular classes we offer. No matter what your English speaking level is, we have many options available and at no cost. Our English Language Acquisition classes provide the best instructional programs in our region. High Quality Career and Technical Education (CTE)—While our Welding and Healthcare classes continue to be very popular, we’ve added some great new classes such as computer programming classes (Java, C#, C++) and Conversational Mandarin. We are also planning future classes in Information Technology, Digital Printing, Basic Electrical, Maintenance and Repair, Plumbing, HVAC, and Automotive Technologies. Great things are happening in our CTE department, and we invite you to explore the possibilities. Personal Enrichment classes—There’s something for everyone here: Art classes, Digital Photography and Photoshop, Floral Arranging, CorelDRAW, Investment courses, and a Dance Fitness class, just to name a few. We even have a new class called Travel 101 where you can learn how to travel the world on a shoestring budget. We are constantly looking for new classes of interest to our community. Fairfield-Suisun Adult School has signed an agreement with Pearson VUE, the computer-based testing (CBT) business of Pearson, to test candidates pursuing key industry certifications from leading IT programs, such as Cisco, CompTIA, EMC, HP, LPI, Oracle and VMware. Pearson VUE’s advanced system administers exams on behalf of hundreds of businesses,boards and organizations around the globe through the world's largest most secure test center network. High School Diploma Classes Both daytime and evening classes are held throughout the school year. Students who complete their requirements will earn a high school diploma from the Fairfield-Suisun Adult School. DAY CLASSES Intermediate Math M-F 10:30 am—11:55 am Room: 13 Advanced Math M-F 12:25 pm—1:55 pm Room: 13 Language Arts 2 M-F 9:00 am—10:25 am Room: 15 Science / Social Studies M-F 10:30 am—11:55 am Room: 15 EVENING CLASSES Classes are multi-subject T/TH 5:30 pm—8:30 pm High School and self-paced. Diploma Learning Center - Room 16 A computer lab is available for students to work on various subjects throughout the day. REGISTRATION / ASSESSMENT INFORMATIONHigh School Diploma Registration opportunities held weekly. Students can sign up for the next available event in the office. • Limited space is available • Allow 1-2 hours • Plan to arrive on time • No children permitted • Late arrivals will not be • Bring a copy of your high school admitted transcript to register HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA REQUIREMENTS Credits earned at previous high schools, adult schools, and colleges will be counted towards your diploma. Students will work on only the credits needed to complete requirements. A transcript from the last high school attended is required. Students who did not pass their CAHSEE exam, but completed all other requirements from 2003 through 2015, may be eligible to receive their high school diploma. Current students who finish their high school requirements will not be required to take the CAHSEE exam. CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS Students currently enrolled in a high school may attend the adult school concurrently to make up credits for graduation. English Language Acquisition (ELA)(previously known as ESL—English as a Second Language)ELA Beginning Low, Beginning High, Intermediate Low, and Intermediate High LevelsOur non-credit, open enrollment courses are designed for students who want to improve their language skills inEnglish. Through direct instruction and blended classrooms, students will work to improve their listeningcomprehension, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar. Health Training Programs Sterile Processing / Central Service Technician (in class training) The Central Service Technician course introduces students to the theories and principles of Sterile Processing Technology and Infection Control. Subjects covered in the first half of the course include an overview of Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Infection Control and Decontamination.
