PROJECT Ball of yarn Set the scene with these small balls of yarn BY KAREN HRITZ M aking a knitters display is easier than you think. Follow the directions and use whatever colors make you happy. 1 Tape the four toothpicks together and then insert into pony bead. Spread white glue on the pony bead and attach the end of the cord/thread. 2 To wind the cord on the bead, you will turn the toothpicks clockwise while wrapping the cord around the bead. The cord needs to cross the bead at an angle. This will keep it from sliding off the bead. 3 Each time you wrap the 2 4 cord, you place it over the pass before it. She kit bashed the tiny structure and sold it on Etsy in twelve hours. To prove her success wasn’t just a one-off, she tried another and that sold in less than a day. Even if you’re not into dolls and furnishings, you can always decorate your home with a mini house, adding a touch of whimsy to almost any room. “Making dollhouses has been the perfect way to try out all my design dreams,” Caroline says. “Not only do I have a dream job, but I’ve met the nicest people in the world who are truly magical – min- iaturists! Reflecting on the future, Caroline says “My next cre- ation is whatever attracts my eye. I love finding new designs and trying out new things. I think I will also write another instruction book. This one will be a simple design for the absolute beginner. I come across a lot of comments from people who are scared to get started. I want to help those people out and show them that they can do it.” 47
