For me, every day's just a normal day for a typical senior high school student like me, who loves online games, watching movies, and anything you can imagine a teenager likes. What is chess? Chess is a sport played by two players at the same time. It is played everywhere, from stadiums, theatres, houses, malls and even streets, as long as you have the proper equipment to play it. Chess can be friendly or competitive, even having it's own tournaments worldwide. Chess Structure There are two sides of the chess, we call them the black and white side. Each side contains 16 pieces each, for a total of 32 pieces all played in a 64-squared board with alternating colors. HISTORY of chess Chess originated from a tale in the 6th century, when a young prince of the Gupta empire (located in India) died in battle. His older brother wanted to describe the scene to their grieving mother, thus devising the game \"chaturanga\" which is set on an 8x8 board called \"ashtapada\" It was termed \"chess\" when the game spread to Persia, coming from the word \"shah\" which means \"king\". It was mainly used for military strategy during the medieval era. When it reached Asia it developed many variants such as \"shogi\", \"tamerlane\" and \"go\". Finally reaching Europe, it became our modern day chess 04

HISTORY of chess At the start of 15th Century, modern chess was born. A piece called \"advisor\" was replaced by a piece called \"queen\". This accelerated the pace of the game giving birth to new rules and creating techniques known as \"endgames\" and \"openings\". By the 18th century, chess theory was developed, which explained how chess games are won. During the 19th century, chess international competitions rose, signaling a geopolitical importance to some countries, particularly the Soviet Union. Soviet Union dominated championships for the rest of the century. At the peak of 1997 however, \"Deep Blue\" the first ever chess-playing computer invented was able to beat a chess champion from the Soviet. 05

Chess On an 8x8 64-squared board, stands a total of 32 pieces, these are the objects of the game, those that gives life to chess and it's countless possibilities. These pieces are divided into to major colors, \"white\" and \"black\" having 16 pieces per color. Each piece has its own roles, and players take turns on who moves, however the general rule is that at the beginning of the game, the one playing \"white\" will be moving first. There are various ways to determine who plays \"white\", it could be an agreement between the players, or even a flip-coin, since there is no official rule in determining who plays white. Bobby Fischer Bobby Fischer was an American chess grandmaster and the 11th world chess champion. Became a chess prodigy at the age of 13, and became the youngest U.S. champion. Garry Kasparov Former Russian grandmaster, became the world no 1. chess champion for over 250 months overall in his career. His Elo rating peak at 2851 (1999). He later retired in late 2005. Magnus Carlsen Norwegian chess grandmaster who is the current world chess champion. Became a chess prodigy at age 13 and grandmaster at age 15. His peak Elo rating is at 2882, the highest in the history. 13
