COACHING STAFF Natalie Darwitz is returning for her fifth sea- son as the Head Coach of the Hamline University Women’s Hockey program. She is arguably the most well-known name in Minnesota women’s hockey history. She is second on the all-time scoring list for the University of Minnesota and a multi-decorated player on the international scene. Darwitz will be inducted into the 2019 Minnesota State High School League’s Hall of Fame. Last December, she was named to the 2018 class entering the United States Hockey Hall of Fame. The Pipers set several team records in the 2018-19 season including setting a school record for 23 wins and advanced to the NCAA D-III Championship game for the first time in school history. Natalie was a three-time All-American at the University of Minnesota where she was a part of two national title teams. She has also had success on the world stage, representing the United States in three Olympics and eight World Championship Tour- naments. She has been a captain of several of those teams, a member of five gold-medal winning teams, and was named 2005 Woman Player of the Year by USA Hockey. Natalie resides in Prior Lake with her husband, Chris, sons Joseph & Zachary and their dog Oakley. Jake Bobrowski is also returning for his fifth season as assistant coach for the Hamline hockey program. The St. Paul native was a key part of the successful Hill-Murray program for seven seasons before joining Natalie at Hamline. At Harding High School, Bobrowski captained the football team and also played hockey and baseball. Jake has been involved in hockey coaching for more than a decade. After four years coach- ing youth hockey in the New Richmond, WI area, he joined the Hill-Murray staff in 2008 as head JV coach and varsity assistant. His JV team won the conference championships every year he was involved, with the Pioneers Varsity having appeared in five MSHSL Class AA tournaments over a span of six years. Jake has also coached ninth grade baseball at Hill-Murray and St. Paul Humboldt. He resides in Chisago Lakes with his wife, Jen, eight children and two dogs. Jake’s daughter, Sarah played her senior year at Hamline in 2017-18 and was named an All-American. Merlin Ravndalen is a native of Warroad, MN and is the Piper Volunteer Goalie Coach. Merlin attended Gustavus Adolphus College and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Educa- tion and Health, along with a coaching certificate, all while playing Gustie hockey. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in Sport Administration from Minnesota State-Mankato. Merlin has been involved in hockey coaching for 30 years at the college, high school, and youth level, including boys varsity at Bismarck Century HS, men’s hockey at Minnesota State-Mankato, Eagan HS varsity boys and girls, Lakeville South Girls, as well as youth hockey in Burnsville and Lakeville South. He has both owned and worked at Hockey summer training and development camps from 1986-2014. Merlin lives in Prior Lake along with his wife Kathy and three daughters, Kalley, Haley (both attending University of MN), and Macey modeling in New York City. He enjoys traveling with his family, as well as hunting and fishing and spending time at the cabin near Lake of the Woods.
