He wasn't a born hero, but hisheroic effort has elevated himinto that rarefied league.At a time the world ismourning the deaths of peoplein the brutal Paris attacks,thousands of miles away fromthe City Of Love, for this mansacrificed himself to save thelives of countless people.

If not for the heroic actions of one man, the death toll would havebeen much higher.And now, days later, his heroism is beingrecognized.Adel Termos and his daughter was walking in an open-air marketin southern Beirut's district on Thursday, November 12, when heheard a blast.A bomb had detonated.There was mayhemand everyone was distracted.As another attacker was planning hisdetonation,Adel spotted him.

And instead of looking for the safe passage, he made a split-second decision. He pounced on the bomber who thendetonated himself.The bomb went off, killing Termos while hisdaughter is reportedly in critical condition. But his sacrifice likelysaved hundreds of lives.

\"He tackled him to the ground, causing the second suicidebomber to detonate,\" Elie Fares, a Beirut-basedphysician, told PRI \"There are many, many families, hundredsof families probably, who owe their completeness to hissacrifice.\"

Adel is no longer of this world, but his legacy will live on for years, and therepercussions of his heroism will become a tale totell:Adel is the reason we are not talking aboutfatalities in the three digits today, he is the reasonsome families still have their sons, daughters, fathersand mothers, he is a Lebanese hero whose nameshould be front and center in every single outlet.
