Inspiring Mornings encourages us to go forward and have taught us new values and ideas. In the inspiring morning we did listen to the talks of successful and talented people. We got inspired by their success stories. I would like to appreciate all the teachers for giving us the opportunity to listen to many inspirational personalities who have changed the world. I am sure that all their speeches will have a lasting impact on my life. Arushi, Tannishtha

Patriotism : INDEPENDENCE DAY On 15th August 1947, our country got freedom and is now one of the largest democracies in the world. On the auspicious day of Independence Day, I and my classroom celebrated it with full respect and happiness for how hard the several Freedom Fighters fought for our country’s freedom. We thought of celebrating it as a show where many of our classmates took roles as Freedom Fighters and said their Monologues which are all throughout famous in the world. We also gave speeches on how hard the men and women of our nation protested the Britishers to leave our country with Non-Violence after the Monologues and speeches regarding the Independence day and Freedom Fighters were over then we Dispersed by singing the Legendary National Anthem of our country which consists of several languages and then wished everyone Happy Independence day. Vibhas

Air force Day Air force day is celebrated once a year but the patriotism in every native’s heart remains for life. In India, air force day is celebrated on 8th October to reminisce the day the Indian air force came into being. On the 8th of October 2020, our school arranged a live session in the morning to honour the great Indian heroes who take to the skies and keep us safe. The session started with the Indian air force song, and the principal ma’am handed the mic over to Vice Principal Ma’am Ms. Rachna Sharma. She shared with us what makes her feel proud about our glorious Indian air force and her experiences and takeaways from the Air force. Next Group captain Rai Sir Shared a few words about the Indian air force. Few teachers then spoke about the Indian air force and the honour it holds. The session ended with a feeling of nationalism filled in each one of us. We salute to every brave soldier of the sky.

Teachers day Celebrations Teachers day is a memorable event, celebrated all over our school. This year, we all participated in making our beloved teachers enjoy their day and have a ton of fun! We collaborated as a class, and presented a parade of artwork, appreciation quotes, skits, and many other things, which our teachers enjoyed very much. To add to this, our wonderful student government had organised a live stream, in which all the teachers had taken a part in and enjoyed themselves a lot. They had also engaged t hem in many activities and games, such as - guess the movie by the songs-, appreciating one and other, and many more. It made us happy, to see joyous smiles on our teachers' faces. Arushi Dear Teachers, I can't believe the school year is over. Your endless positivity made it a joy to come to class every day. Because of you, I know I can conquer any difficulty that comes my way. You taught me that I can never go wrong with a generous spirit. Thank you for emboldening me. Your positivity and encouragement brightened my days. You made me a better, more thoughtful person. Your kindness made me feel welcomed and comfortable. I hope you have a spectacular summer and I hope to see you around next year! Harika

Student Government Investiture Ceremony Harika-MLA Abhiram-D.MLA Living in the world's largest democracy and enjoying liberty, equality, and fraternity, Our School believes that the acorns of Silver Oaks have to be trained from a young age into democratic ideals. Teaching democracy as a concept may be a little abstract so our school found a way of making it real to us by making us participate in the running of the school. Training acorns into leadership skills and responsible roles along with accountability is the objective behind having a student Government. In the year 2020, because of the pandemic, going to school can be stopped but learning cannot. Like every year, this year also we have the student government. The elections w ere placed for President, Vice president, Prime minister, MPs, and CMs for each grade & MLAs for each class. First, the students who wanted to participate filled a google form, from which only 2 or 3 students were shortlisted. Then were the election campaigns. Every year, we usually have the election campaigns live. But because of the coronavirus pandemic, this year the shortlisted contestants sent their videos explaining why they want to become a part of the student government. The videos were shown in the class by presenting or seen individually. The voting happened through google forms. And then was the big part, the Student Government Investiture Ceremony. The oath for senior student council was presented on the screen. The student council first takes the oath and gives a short speech. Their parents honour them. In the individual classes, for the MLAs, the respective MLA takes the oath and gives a short speech in the meeting. I was elected as the MLA of the class by my classmates and given the opportunity to represent my class. Harika

Ganesh Chaturthi Every festival in India has its own importance and scientific reason behind it. Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival where Lord Ganesha's birthday is celebrated. This festival gives lots of joy and happiness. In our class, we celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi in the breakout session. We made sculptures of lord Ganesha with turmeric, maida, sugar powder, raw milk, peppercorns, and toothpicks. Everyone made their own Ganesha and all Ganesha were looking beautiful. Everyone enjoyed the hour making the sculptures. Saathwik

Diwali Celebrations This year (2020) Diwali was celebrated on 14th November. Every year we would celebrate Diwali in our school by cleaning our classrooms. But this year due to online classes, we couldn’t clear our classes so we cleaned our own rooms in the given time. After that we had some fun activities and we discussed on why we should not burst the crackers. We came to a conclusion that bursting crackers are not safe so we all decided to celebrate “Green Diwali”. Aditya

Ramleela celebrations Ramleela is an event in which we reflect on our good habits and not so good habits and we oath not to repeat our not so good habits and focus on our good habits. We also wrote our bad habits on a jam board and burnt them virtually. We had celebrations in school as Principal mam and other staff members burnt their bad habits. Shayan Christmas Celebrations Christmas is a festival of joy, happiness and peace. To celebrate joy at these tough times, the school chose to present something fun. This year, in our breakout sessions we got to watch a live streaming in which teachers and students of different sections and grades sang carols and danced with joy. We sang Carols in the class afterwards and had lots of fun. Kyril Fit India Week

Everybody wants to have a healthy and fit body. I am also addicted to my fitness. Because I feel exercise is the only thing which guarantees us good health. So, I full- heartedly trust it. Putting this in mind, our teachers have planned the super healthy Fit India week, which was an awesome experience, for all of us. This week we experienced and came through some super fun and helpful activities. We enjoyed Yoga; exercises; meditation; dance; and poster making, knowing their advantages and benefits. This was a welfare for our body physically and mentally. Thank you, teachers, for arranging such a pleasant event for us. Overall, that week taught us nothing will work unless you do it! And Fit India To Hit India! Sejal

November is a happy month in our school. We get to play games with our classmates and have a lot of fun when we are in school but this year, because the schools were closed ,we played with our friends online where we were in 4 groups and each group had a week to plan an activity. Also... To spread the happiness of the month of November, we've deeply immersed ourselves in many tasks, to hone our creativity, communication, and of course, build great passions in us. Zentangle masterpieces, and fantastic art and dance classes to spark excitement into us, are just some of the highlights of the engaging time we had that month. We had a delightful time, and have enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Sejal Breakfast pe charcha We had a lot of fun in Breakfast pe charcha and we discussed why we should take breakfast in the morning and what are the consequences if we don't take breakfast on time and we discussed about each other's cultures. Book Tasting Sessions Book Tasting is an event that engaged us in a fun activity while introducing us to a wide array of books. Through these sessions we were able to improve our reading skills and comprehension skills. Here, we had chosen the book of our choice and started reading it. Sometimes, we read aloud a few bits and pieces of the story. One of the best books tasting sessions was in the World Read Aloud day. On This day we got a chance to read any of our favourite stories in the class. We also got a chance to share our perspective and understanding of the story. It was a terrific experience. Book tasting sessions helped us to exercise our comprehension and analytical abilities. It fired up our imagination and stimulated the mental center of our mind. Through the book tasting session, we were able to ensure that everyone reads and strengthens their mental muscles. All in all, it was a brilliant experience for all of us and we got an opportunity to do something new. Tannistha Talent Hunt The students showcased their dancing, theatrical, oratory skills and drawing skills very confidently in the talent hunt session. This really, proved to be a good platform for them to identify their hidden talents. Students very enthusiastically presented their own unique talents. It was really pleasant to see their wonderful works, achievements and talents.

TALENT HUNT COMPETITION IDENTIFIES HIDDEN TALENTS IN STUDENTS.

Next day, during the morning assembly session we all in the class played together. It was really fun to play. Bhavitha Admiring each other Admiration is great. Students admired each other. It helps them to build stronger bonding among themselves. Fun Games Playing games in the classroom increases overall motivation. By playing games, students become more motivated to learn, pay attention and participate in set tasks. Games help students to become a part of a team as well as take responsibility for their own learning. Few of the games students really enjoyed are:

Guest Lectures: Science Guest Lectures are fun and interactive. In the guest lecture of Physics we had our Guest Mr Vijay Lovekar explaining to us about the History of Physics, connection of the IB Themes with the Physics and its branches. We discussed different famous Physicists like Archimedes, Albert Einstein etc… about their important contributions to the Physics World and also we got a crystal clear idea about what role does Physics plays in this world and how it helps us understand this Mysterious world. Fun with Experiments This year we learnt a lot in science. In the 3 main branches (chemistry, physics, and biology) we got lots of new learnings. We learnt it in a very different way like we learnt the ohm’s law in a virtual lab. Then, we did 2 activities on sound 1 was an activity that used a string to communicate through cups the next one was a slinky activity. Then we learnt about plane mirrors using a chess board and mirror to show that the distance between the object and the mirror is the same as the distance between the mirror and image. We also did a sound experiment with a steel scale by holding one side and then pulling up and leaving the other side. Another one was an activity based on electromagnets which was quite interesting. Like this we did many experiments and increased our knowledge on different topics. Abhiram

Most of the people think that Rubik’s cube is quite hard to solve but that's not the case, it is very easy to learn but it takes a lot of practice to solve it faster. In this Competition there were lot of participants including seniors, who could solve the cube quickly. I participated in 4x4 rubik’s cube competition and won 1st place. Though there was a lot of competition, I had a lot of fun and enjoyed the competition as cubing is one of my passion. Shayan

In my tournament, there were many categories of players and all of them were strong contenders. I tried my level best and enjoyed it a lot. It was really fun. Shreyas Isap Edx When asked, many people told us public speaking as one of their biggest fears. Many famous public speakers were once afraid about speaking in front of groups. An idea of our school helps us find our hidden talents in speaking. EDx is a student-based competition, which helps students to build confidence and communication skills and understand their pros and cons. Recently, 10 students from across senior grades were chosen to compete among themselves, and gave an amazing speech to win the EDx CUP. Namish & Kyril

At a time when people are disconnected with one another, society is missing the value fabric and the nature is bemoaning the materialistic aspirations of humans. We as a school want to make the goals of education as harmony with oneself people, society and nature. We look for a role model and idealistic philosophy and we found our answers from the father of a nation. As a school we want to bring congruence in our academic curriculum with the value curriculum as given by Gandhiji Students of Makalu reflected and interpreted Mantras of Mahatma Swaraj, Swadesh, Swadharma, Satyagraha and Sarvodaya

Cultures and 7 Habits of highly effective people Thank you to our class teacher Ms Ranjna Sharma to help us teach these habits. These 7 habits(Habit 1: Be Proactive, Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind, Habit 3: Put First Things First, Habit 4: Think Win-Win, Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood, Habit 6: Synergize, Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw) will be helping us so much in our future classes. So what we did is, every morning after the assembly we were watching 1 or 2 videos about the particular habit and then we would tell our understanding about it and after discussion we conclude with how we can inculcate these habits in our daily life. Manaswani

Gearing up for Project Graduation Project graduation was an opportunity given to us by the school to make exams fun, interesting and creative. It all started when a document was posted by Uma ma’am regarding this. We were given two choices, making a website or the usual tests. We thought of usual tests as rock thinking and we wanted to try something new, so we chose to make a website. Before starting, our teachers gave us some tips and instructions on how to make the website creative as well as knowledgeable. The first thing we did was have a rough idea of the website and how the content and pages would be organized. Next, we decided the aesthetics, like the font for the heading and the normal text and the background colours, etc. To make the website look more interesting and independent, we drew pictures and added them in the website, to show our creativity. This was how we started the website. Aryan Discussions & Opinions
