Install occupancy sensors To help reduce unnecessary lighting usage, you can install occupancy sensors in certain locations to automatically turn off lighting. It is important to ensure that the sensors are placed in locations that can clearly identify motion so do not install the sensor in an obstructed location or an area that requires constant lighting.

OFFICE EQUIPMENTTurn off unused equipmentTurning off machines that are not in constant use cantranslate to significant energy savings. Somethings assmall as ensuring Computer monitors are turned offwhen not in use is an easy way to save on your business’s energy bill. If left on duringnights and weekends, these monitors can add significantly to your energy costs. Askyour staff to set automatic sleep modes or manually turn off when not in use.Unplug appliances or use a power stripIt may surprise you that many devices continue to draw a small amount ofpower even when they are switched off. This means that it is important tounplug equipment not in use. These ‘energy drainers’ continue to suckenergy even when in “standby mode” leadingto energy waste and high costs. You can easily avoid this wasteby unplugging devices or using a power strip’s on/off switch tocut off all power to the appliance. Reduce paper usage Printing and paper can be costly for your business. Make sure that you and your employees only print when necessary and double-sided where possible. This will reduce paper waste and help to cut down on the energy required to run your printer.

FOOD EQUIPMENTClean your refrigeratorIf your business uses refrigerators, make sure the refrigeratorcoils are cleaned twice a year and replace door gaskets if thereare slight gaps when closed between the door’s seals. You cantest for this by seeing if a € note fits between the seal whenthe door is closed. This will help your refrigerator to operate asefficiently as possible while retaining optimum coolness.Conduct regular maintenanceon refrigeratorsIf your business has large or walk-in refrigerationsystems, service them at least once a year. Whenannually maintained, your refrigerator will have alonger life and function more efficiently. Maximise efficiency with state of the art refrigeration technology Consider refrigeration technology such as Fridge saver or Chill scoop. Fridge Saver technology ensures that all products refrigerated are kept at the correct temperature. A thermostat sensor is fitted and as refrigeration cycles are measured against product temperatures instead of air, this significantly reduces the frequency of each cycle. This process can increase the length of refrigeration cycles, achieve reductions as high as 80% while producing a much colder storage area. Chill Scoop technology runs a patented vortex air system which catches up to 90% of cold air, then directs it straight back to the refrigeration airflow. With improved temperatures and working conditions, Chill Scoop Technology has made up to 21% reductions on energy consumption.
