Một hôm, trên đường đi học về, bé thấy chim thả xuống một cái hạt. 2/24

Bé nhặt lên: “Hạt gì đây nhỉ?” 3/24

Bé đem hạt về cho ông. 4/24

Ông cười móm mém: “Ông chỉ thích trồng bon-sai.” “Cây thu mình bé lại, cây uốn lượn. Ông chiết cành chứ không gieo hạt.” 5/24

Bé đem hạt đến cho bà. Bà nhìn thật lâu... “Không phải hạt lúa đâu nhỉ. Cháu nhìn xem, những cánh đồng mênh mông. Bà thích trồng ra lúa gạo thôi!” 6/24

Bé đem hạt đi tìm cha. 7/24

“Không phải hạt cây ăn quả. Cha không trồng trong vườn cây ăn quả được.” Cha chỉ cho bé xem... 8/24

Hạt của trái mít xù xì? Không phải! Hạt của trái cam mọng nước? Không đúng! Hạt của trái xoài ngọt ngào? Không giống! Hạt của trái nhãn thơm phức? Không luôn! 9/24

Cũng không phải hạt vú sữa hay hạt mãng cầu. 10/24

Bé đem hạt đi hỏi mẹ. 11/24

“Mẹ không biết hạt này, mẹ không trồng trong vườn rau quả được.” 12/24

Mẹ ôm bé vào lòng. Mẹ chỉ cho bé xem... 13/24

Hạt cải - không phải! Hạt ngò - không đúng! Hạt mướp - không giống! Hạt bầu - không luôn! 14/24

Cũng không phải hạt dưa leo xanh mát, hạt khổ qua đắng thanh, hạt cà chua ngọt lành. 15/24

Bé cầm hạt tìm đến chị. 16/24

Chị nhìn rồi hỏi lại bé: “Hạt gì đây nhỉ?” “Chắc không ra được hoa hồng, hoa lan, hoa sen, hoa cúc đâu!” 17/24

Bé buồn xo, cầm hạt đi ra vườn. Bé ước gì hỏi được chim: “Hạt gì đây nhỉ?” Bé quyết định gieo thử hạt xuống đất. 18/24

Hết nắng Rồi mưa Hết đêm Rồi ngày Bé mải chơi, quên mất. 19/24

Một hôm ra vườn, bé reo lên: “A hạt đã nảy mầm! Từ hạt nhú ra một vài cái lá. Rồi thân cây mềm mại quấn quanh cái giàn trơ trụi gần đó. 20/24

Cả nhà đi qua đi lại, ai cũng hỏi: - Ai trồng cây lạ nhỉ? - Cây gì mọc đẹp nhỉ? - Cây gì buồn cười nhỉ? - Cây gì leo giỏi nhỉ? 21/24

Chỉ sau một mùa hè, cây xanh tốt đã phủ kín giàn. Vẫn không ai biết đó là cây gì. 22/24

Nhưng từ nay, cả nhà có thêm một chỗ ngồi nghỉ và chơi đùa dưới bóng mát của cây. Mẹ bảo bé đặt tên cho cây. Bé thầm thì: “Cây tên là...Hạt Đi Lạc!” 23/24
