Physical Self This part of the module made me feel more aware of the changes that I feel as I grew older. It helped me Biologicalunderstand the concepts of body chemistry and heredity. Something new that I’ve learned was that it is not only the hereditary factors that may contribute to one’s physical being but also the presence of trends in society much like how people are inclined to bodily development because of the beauty standard. It taught me to think consciously of the alterations my body undergoes as well as the lifestyle I’ve undertaken. I've learned from this module that in order to survive in the world, one must be susceptible to change. Sexual Self This was the topic that was most challenging to listen to yet the most intriguing on my part. It is expounded on that you are not only assigned biological sex at birth but it comes with the social norms and responsibilities that come with the gender. We often see the world criticize generations of women and people of the LGBTQ+ community. The danger that these norms pose to society and to the children; which is why I try my hardest every day to advocate for the dismantling of the patriarchy. This topic opened me to awareness of reproductive health and the multiple repercussions of the act.
Cultural Self The things that are most striking to me about this topic have to be the explanation of the cultures surrounding the idea of family. How western cultures lean towards independence of one’s family, while easterners rely co- dependently on one another. These cultures are influenced by family background and heritage heavily; however, volition still plays a major role in how a person is to remain permeable to these influences. S o c i o - D i g i t a l S e l f There is an obvious divide that we create between the person we are on Social Media and the persona we have in person. The way we have dissociated the two creates that divide that we call disinhibition. Due to the lack of a definite authority on the internet, we see that there is the liberty to post and share anything you would like to. I, for one, am an avid user of social media platforms and love seeing drama. However, the way that we just put ourselves and our opinions out in the open poses a threat and so we have to be cautious of the self we portray. To think with accountability brings us a step closer to making these platforms a safe space for everyone. E c o n o m i c S e l f Social We are in the current state of experiencing a global pandemic where there is an economic setback. At these times we are taught by this topic to see situations as opportunities to uplift one another. A guy like me seems to always find himself at a crossroads of choices between what I want and what I need, so this topic helped me assess during these scenarios. Being aware of our needs and wants helps us grow toward being economically smart citizens.
Cognition, Memory, and Intelligence The concept of the human mind had always been so fascinating to me, had I been granted the chance to choose my program freely, I’d have been a psychology major. This topic helped me understand the way that the mind works during the learning process. The perceiving of things in the environment I reside in and the awareness of the different things I remember and how I remember them. I’ve been exposed to information that people have different types of intelligence which assesses the fields to which one is inclined. It showed me the uniqueness of every mind and that the way a person thinks sets them Human Learning apart from society. I have learned that people are secluded by the way they learn. We have expounded on the fact that people have different levels to which they can learn certain discourses. A person who has high competencies in Math could learn Algebra at a faster rate than those who are inclined in language studies. We’ve come to the conclusion that people could perceive information at different rates also depending on their tactic of learning, whether it be through flashcards or taking down notes.
EmotionalEmotional Intelligence Emotional Intelligence is the gauge to which we embed the way one can control the outward manifestation of one’s feelings. I’ve learned that a stereotype surrounds the relationship between the intelligence quotient and the emotional quotient; how a person with a high IQ will likely have a low EQ. This is false because there is no subjective data that proves this. We link emotional intelligence to the way a person can adapt to feelings and possibly emotional stresses. Emotional R egulation Emotional regulation, from what I’ve learned, refers to the level to which one has control over their emotions or the outward manifestations of their feelings. I’ve learned that people have different ways to cope with their feelings. I am now aware that I regulate emotions by cleaning, likely, and hitting people violently. The way one handles emotions is the regulatory factor. Emotional regulation is the by-product of having felt feelings.
Spiritual Life’s Meaning Connections The meaning of life is providing Inner Soul purpose to the talents that with Nature you’ve achieved and acquired, The inner soul is a topic where I learned towards the goal of self- how drastic the difference is between I’ve come to the realization, as a actualization. Overall, I found every single discourse fascinating, partly due to my inclination toward the subject. I find that these topics are essential to one's growth. I loved the topic about the meaning of life, it was so insightful. The topic I disliked most has to be the topic about the sexual self for very personal reasons. This module helped me assess the things I'd often overlook and for that I am grateful.
