Summary of Mid-Project FindingsThe C2E grant‐funded program has made substantial progress in developing the intended program curriculum and has achieved stable program leadership and technical guidance both within the targeted After a rocky beginning, the C2E program has academic program and at the level of grant made substantial progress in developing the administration. Key challenges currently facing the program include enrolling enough students to support the evaluation of program impacts, continuing to refine the program curriculum and the various entry and exit options for the mechatronics career pathway, and developing strong involvement by manufacturing employers in the region who can provide work‐based training opportunities and hire program completers.VI. Next StepsDuring the remaining 13 months of grant operations (between September 1, 2016 and September 30, 2017), SPR will continue to document and assess the implementation of the C2E program, giving particular attention to efforts to overcome the challenges noted above. This continuing implementation‐study research will be accomplished through the following data collection activities: We will conduct a second site visit to CPTC during the fall of 2016. During this site visit, we will interview program administrators and instructors, conduct focus groups with students, and interview selected employers and public workforce system employees. The latter interviews will enable SPR to assess the quality of the partnerships developed with these stakeholders and how these partnerships have enhanced the quality of the training, work experience, and employment

NEWS STORY: Mechatronics Training Gets a BoostIndustrial automation will give CPTC’s Mechatronics program an added boost starting winter 2017. The FAS-200 is a flexible andcompact assembly system which features industrialautomation technologies and independent stationswith integrated control. The new acquisition willprovide training in the following technologies:hydraulics, electrical panels, pneumatics,vacuum, electric motors, sensors,identification systems, artificial vision,programmable controllers, manipulators,robotics, industrial communication, motioncontrol, SCADA/HMI, and automatedsystems.With the FAS-200, mechatronics studentswill receive practical skills including analyticalskills, troubleshooting, designing, technicaldocumentation creation and understanding,installation and assembly, operation, set up andprogramming. These will prepare them for theirfuture workplace using standardized industrialcomponents.
