Presently, in the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), the semesters tend to be packed with academics, leaving li le me for extra-curricular ac vi es, like NCC. With the NEP 2020 being on course for implementa on in a phased manner, it has been decided that NCC should now be introduced as a General Elec ve Credit Course in Universi es and Colleges having NCC, under the CBCS. The objec ve is to harness the full poten al of NCC's training in the country. This would make it more popular and simultaneously benefit the students enrolled with the NCC. (b) HQ DG NCC has designed and developed the NCC General Elec ve Credit Course that is uniform, while being in conformity with the UGC policy on CBCS. The proposed model aligns with NEP 2020, making it universally implementable. The proposed model would encourage educa onal ins tu ons to take ownership of NCC training, which is presently lacking. Introduc on of NCC as a Credit Course will facilitate exposure to a large sec on of student popula on to military training, personality development and security consciousness. In Gujarat, 11 Universi es, 152 Colleges and 03 Autonomous Ins tu ons have given confirma on of implementa on of NCC as an Elec ve Subject in their academic session. 10 Ex NCC Yogdan. The students now have choice. They can choose the subject and the topic that they want to learn. They get input from various sources enriching their learning experience. Their sources of input are not restricted to class notes or textbooks. They can explore beyond prescribed syllabus from various free online resources.
