About us Founded as the legal entity of Association for Pharmaceuticals and Pharmacies, IVEK mainly operates in the field of pharmaceuticals and pharmacy. Taking heart from its entrenched values and tradition, IVEK has embraced a more comprehensive approach by focusing not only on the pharmaceuticals, but also on the stakeholders of the healthcare industry and it continues to get credit for its achievements. In addition, after conducting research on the positive effects of a safe and efficient healthcare system on the public health, IVEK has shifted from the concept of “health comes first” to “health of the healthcare comes first.” After having served as an association for ten years, IVEK became a foundation in 2016. It aims to add value to the field of Pharmaceuticals, Pharmacy, Health Science and Technology driven by its young and dynamic team taking strength from a deep-rooted history. IVEK is the meeting point for all the healthcare professionals and the influential figures of the industry that played an active role in the establishment of the foundation. As a non-profit foundation, IVEK devotes itself to human health. In this sense, it serves as a hub for those who strive for a better healthcare experience and add value through the research and development. IVEK builds bridges between the public and private sector, the researchers and investors, and the students and the relevant occupational groups. It is now a center for the professionals that collectively endeavor to bring about a sustainable system in the industry by finding new ways of treatments. In line with its mission and vision based on the strategic objectives, IVEK keeps on track to become “a point of reference” and build a sincere relationship between the past and the future.

Vision IVEK envisages a sustainable and reliable healthcare industry, particularly pharmaceuticals and pharmacy, that offers accessible and quality services and respects the human dignity without compromising on the scientific and ethical principles. Mission “Find virtue in knowledge, serve for humanity with glory.” With this motto in mind, IVEK, as a leading center, will bring all the components of healthcare industry, particularly pharmaceuticals and pharmacy, under one roof. In cooperation with the scientific community and the NGOs as per international norms, IVEK will harness the academic and professional experience of the industry and work relentlessly to maximize the potentials of all the healthcare professions and institutions. IVEK will approach every health professional, both individuals and institutions, as stakeholders and encourage information exchange to find a common ground.

Strategic Aims and Objectives We should first and foremost promote a well-coordinated national industry that will help us offer reliable, accessible, sustainable and quality healthcare services. Therefore, it’s our duty to meet the occupational needs in the industry and increase production by training qualified personnel and encouraging R&D activities. To achieve such challenging objectives both in Turkey and in the region, we most certainly need transparent and concrete laws that will pave the way for the cooperation between public and private sector. Success requires discipline, dedication and long-term efforts. To that end, it is of great importance to create a common platform where all the stakeholders will share their experiences. In accordance with its strategic objectives, IVEK intends to carefully plan and coordinate all the organizational activities through its commissions. İVEK ULUSLARARASI İLAÇ VE EDCeZaAnCVILiIsKitsKONGRESİ To enhance cooperation between the Foundation and the Universities, Pharmacists Commission pays regular visits to the deans of Faculties of Pharmacy. Dinner with Old Friends Pharmacists Commission of IVEK Foundation organizes triennial meetings for independent pharmacists where the oldest representatives of Turkish pharmacy industry can share their experiences.

İVEK ULUSLARARASI İLAPÇhaVrEmEaCcZAisCtsI’LMIKeKeOtiNnGgsRESİ Our Pharmacists Commission and the Commission for Pharmaceutical Industry and Technologies hold meetings where pharmacists come together with the representatives from SSI (Social Security Institution) and regional chambers of pharmacy. These meetings provide a great opportunity to discuss the problems and expectations of independent pharmacists.

İVEK ULUSLARARASI İLAÇ VE PEaCrZtAneCrIsLhIKipKsONGRESİ Due to the rapid growth of the world population, demographic changes, climate change and the limited natural resources, biotechnology is a highly-competitive and developing field. Biotechnology strives for the efficient use of energy and natural resources by promoting alternative and renewable energy sources. In line with the global trend, market share of biotech drugs in Turkey is expected to increase. In 2013, the total market size of licensed biotech products reached to 1,917,634,812 Turkish lira with a share of 13.7 percent in the pharmaceuticals market whereas it rose to 14.21 percent in the second half of 2014. The sales volume and value of biotech drugs also showed a growing tendency in 2013 and 2014. However, at the end of 2009, public sector started a global budget application in the pharmaceutical industry. Due to the decisions announced at the end of 2009, 2010 and 2011 successively, market prices decreased and sales value increased at a lower speed than sales volume. While the unit price was 93.90 Turkish lira at 2013 Q1, it rose to 104.51 Turkish lira at 2014 Q2. To attract global investors and creative minds, we should first of all create an optimum environment and build a robust infrastructure by laying the foundations for innovation. Accordingly, we need to raise awareness for the opportunities in Turkey in line with our strategic objectives and take an active role in BIO with the participation of our delegation. With the support of the Ministry of Health, TMMDA and IVEK Foundation work together to organize the participation of Turkish delegation to BIO Convention (2020) that with allow us to have a voice in this field and demonstrate the actions and goals of Turkey to the whole world. By becoming a center of attraction, Turkey will take bold steps towards its development goals and encourage strategic investments.

Young IVEK Students Meetings At the “Students’ Meetings” held by IVEK, pharmacy students came together with the president of TMMDA (Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency.) After a discussion on the future of pharmacy and career opportunities, they tackled the problems that the students and independent pharmacists encounter in the industry and offered creative solutions to them.
