A sincere thank you to families for ensuring this has been a smooth process by following the uniform guidelines. A friendly reminder to also ensure that haircuts, hair accessories, hair styles, jewellery and socks meet the Uniform Policy (please note the policy is under review). Unfortunately, students not complying will be asked to address the concern via a Uniform Infringement note. If this occurs on School Photo Day students will not be permitted to sit for their official school photo. • Year 3 and 5 students sat the NAPLAN tests and it was wonderful to see so many students excited by a new and different experience and not stressed by it. I’m sure this was due to the considered and thorough preparation of the students for the testing process by their teachers; Mr Niall Ashby, Mrs Pia Keain, Mrs Louise Malchow, Mr Bret Swensson, Mrs Lauren Cable and Mrs Karen Murphy. An exceptionally huge thank you to Mrs Sarah Freer for overseeing the implementation and the logistics of NAPLAN and to Mr Darren Giancaspro for ensuring the IT was spot on. • The first of the foundations for the Year 3/4 build were laid. It is a very exciting time and the students are enjoying watching the process unfold. For the traditionalists amongst us who like to place holy cards and holy medallions in the foundation before it sets, I can assure you this tradition remains. A special thank you to Barry Ramsay Constructions who are not only doing an amazing job but are also so considerate of the students, their safety and their learning needs. • At last week’s Assembly we presented Elise Yarrow with her SRC badge. Elise won the position vacated by Saranyaa Pal who has moved to Adelaide. I’m know Elise will represent 5 Blue with great enthusiasm. • There was an opportunity on Monday for families of R-2 Indigenous students to meet with Ms Mae Camporeale, R-12 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Focus Teacher and Benedict Campus Indigenous Advocate, Mrs Angela Jordan. We thank Mae and Angela for their commitment to this vital role and look forward to seeing it grow. I’m sure the families who attended found the meeting worthwhile. • I’d like to acknowledge the work of the P+F Committee who are often volunteering in the background. Mrs Kate McBride and her amazing team who continue to offer a variety of ways for families to be involved with the school. The recent Movie Night was a wonderful success for them and an ‘epic’ evening for the students. Thank you also to staff who were able to support on the night! • This week is also ESO Week – a time to reflect on the contribution the Education Support Officers make to the College community. A school isn’t just made up of students, teachers, families and the local parish! We also require dedicated personnel with a wide range of gifts and talents to ensure the perfect learning environment exists for all the students. We truly appreciate you all! Ms Melissa Gadaleta, Deputy Principal, Benedict Campus Bosco Campus: • T he Year 12 jumpers have arrived, and they look great. I thank our Year 7 and Year 9 students for their participation and dedication to achieving their best. Thank you also to the Math and English teachers who supported the students through the process and helped prepare to them. • Last week our Year 10 students visited the Career’s Expo in Adelaide. This was a great opportunity for them to explore different possibilities and future pathways. Our Year 10 students will also participate in Work Experience during Week 10 this term. We look forward to seeing you all out in our community, experiencing something new and gaining insights to future careers. Mr Marc Forster, Deputy Principal, Bosco Campus
