IS MOVING The QLF is very proud to announce that it is the recipient of a Triennial Sponsorship from the Borough of Queenscliff for $15,000 which has allowed the committee to employ a Paid Programmer for 2019-21. This is a huge boost of confidence for the festival, and a wonderful new stage in ensuring the longevity of the festival, which until now, has been totally voluntary with a total of 2000 hrs for all those involved. The new Programmer is Jane Finemore, a highly experienced publicist and freelancer, with strong ties in the publishing industry and on the Bellarine Peninsula. Jane’s passion is the written word and she has a strong belief in community engagement. Alice Barker, co-founder, Vice President, and a major driving force behind the festival, particularly in Programming and Governance, has retired to resume her career as a full time freelance editor. She leaves a wonderful legacy, and her spirit remains very much at the heart of the festival. Alice instigated the FREE KIDS DAY for all the children of the Borough -from Day Care and Kindergarten to Year 6 - a strong program that has far-reaching benefits within the community beyond the classroom and has received recognition and support from Deakin University, with whom the festival has increasing engagement. We are extremely thrilled to announce that Lorna Downey, the current Volunteer Coordinator, has stepped up to the role of Vice President. Lorna is a highly skilled communicator, Project Manager, and dedicated member of the QLF committee. We also warmly welcome new Community Advisory members Jacinta Farrugia, Ben Talbot Dunn, Matthia Dempsey and Marg Bowman. We look forward to bringing you another wonderful program during May 2019.
