2    What is mold?  Mold is a type of fungus that consists of small  organisms that are almost everywhere. Mold can be  different colors like black, white,green, purple,  and sometimes orange. Mold feeds off of moisture and  reproduces through small pores that travel in the  air.  What makes mold dangerous?  Mold is dangerous when the small pores that travel  through the air land on a wet spot in home or inside  a building and they begin to grow and grow and you  breathe in the organism of the mold.  fungus/mold   Home with mold growth       

3      Different types of Mold Allergenic Molds:​ Mold that causes problems for  people who have asthma or a predisposed allergy to  the specific mold. Children are more likely to have  mold allergies than adults. Less harmful  Pathogenic mold:T​ his mold affects those with  suppressed immune systems. This mold will cause  infections that have to be diagnosed and treated by  medical professionals.  Toxigenic mold: ​This type of mold can cause serious  health issues because they produce mycotoxins. This  mold has been tied to immunosuppression and cancer.  You can be affected by the chemicals in the mold  when you eat,inhale,eat, or touch them.    Mold under microscope   

4    5 common indoor molds Alternaria: ​This mold is the mold that is found in  your nose,mouth, and upper respiratory tract;that  can cause allergic reaction.  Aspergillu:​ This type of mold is found in warm, very  damp areas and climates; and most likely in house  dust. This mold also produces Mycotoxins which can  cause lung problems.  Cladosporium: ​Mold that is found outside that can  make its way indoors. Indoors this mold can grow on  wood and textile and other damp areas. Breathing  this mold in can cause asthma and hay fever.  Penicillium:​ Mold that is very common on wallpaper,  old decaying fabrics, and carpet. This mold can  cause allergies and asthma.  Stachybotrys: ​Highly toxic “Black Mold.” This mold  also creates mycotoxins. These mycotoxins can cause  hard breathing issues and bleeding of the lungs.This  mold is found mostly on wood or cellulose products.

6    How to prevent mold from growing. ● Keep your Humidity levels as low as you can. No  Higher than 50% you can do this with a  dehumidifier.  ● Keep the air flowing freely in you home/building  all vent systems flows outside(dryer, exhaust  fans in kitchen or bathroom)  ● Fix any water leaks.  ● Add mold inhibitors to paints before painting.  ● Clean Bathrooms and kitchens with mold killing  products.  ● Don’t have a lot of indoor plants(mold can grow  in soil.)  ● Don’t leave wet clothes in washers or dryers.  ● Regularly can dehumidifiers and humidifiers  ● Turn off humidifiers when you see condensation  on the windows.        Painters Bleach Dehumidifier
