From the Desk of President Hello Friends, Festival Greetings! What a great start at our 6th Installation meet. I was overwhelmed with the support of all. It has made me feel that all members have special quality of facing the challenges. Any work cannot be done alone, big contribution of the entire Team makes it fruitful. I am blessed to be President of such a great Organisation where each member is a leader and I have full faith that we will blossom doing good for the society. I was nervous before the start of our diabetes and Eye Camp simultaneously at Kamakhya Temple premises. But the moment the Project started, each member was working with such enthusiasm to make the project successful. Our new member Dr. Amit Agarwal was supposed to stay for a little while but he stayed for nearly 3 hours and handled the crucial moments so coolly. We come across this principle Now it is the tendency of the winner to in day-to-day life, in business boast, he will boast that he has won and at so many places yet we 5000 Rs. after investing just Rs10. The succumb to it. For some it is news spreads, some will say he has just fun and time pass but won 10,000/- and the figure increases, some pay very dearly, some now 1000 persons more are interested swear that they will never fall to purchase lottery tickets and the show for it but still fall for it in one goes on. This has been going on since form or the other. Because this time immemorial. The 999 persons who principle, always tend to show lost Rs.10/- never raise their voice. A that those who have grown rich loser seldom raises his voice. We all and successful have taken know Miandad hit a six of the last ball of shortcuts which is generally not Chetan Sharma at Sharjah and Pakistan so. won the match, but few will remember that in that very match Srikanth batted Now what is this brilliantly. Why! Because we lost the principle? Suppose 1000 match. persons purchase lottery tickets @ Rs.10 and out of 1000 persons 1 person wins Rs.5000/- and the rest Rs.5000/- is divided in taxes, agent’s commissions etc. Again, see the various marketing concepts. A product which realistically should be worth 50 Rs. has an MRP of 150 Rs. A chain is made up and you are shown as part of the chain. The more the members you create the more you earn. Page 20

All by sitting in your beautiful house and inviting your friends and creating more members. The presentation is just mind blowing. Slides, video presentations and what not. They will say ’You know Mr. Pandey is a proud owner of a HONDA City car by making this chain. Now I ask how many Honda City cars has been distributed in total and the ratio to the number of members. They will say ‘don’t you want a beautiful holiday in Goa without any tensions’. They sell dreams. Are we not just a salesman /woman of such companies. Most such companies, chit funds, internet members, plantation companies etc. know the pulse of the people, know that this lottery principle will never fail. And at the end only a few persons earn at the cost of so many. Though I am not strongly against propagators of Vaastu, Feng Sui, Colour therapy etc. what I strongly feel is how so many people with so little knowledge of such theories just cash on one theory - the lottery principle. A interior decorator- cum- Vaastu expert from his small office will advise you where your entrance should be, where your water storage should be etc. etc. I would believe in such theories if for suppose at random 100 houses are selected at Singapore or some international city. People knowing nothing about Vaastu do the job of seeing whether there is progress, peace and well-being in each such house. Vaastu experts are given exact diagrams of the houses and they are to give their comments on each house. Now the findings are compared by a unbiased person and then he finds out the percentage, that say 60 % houses are having progress because Vaastu suits them, if such UNBIASED observations are carried out then such theories shall be worth believing if it shows some positive results. Page 21

I started reading a book which was describing a house where Sivarasan was killed (accused in Rajiv Gandhi’s murder case). The house was not constructed as per Vaastu. See the preconceived mind of the writer. As if the design of the house is responsible for the deeds of Sivarasan. I know a person who made so many structural changes as per Vaastu and yet did not get the desired result. He went back to this interior designer-cum-Vaastu expert. Now this Interior Designer-cum Vaastu expert (now in AC deluxe office) has a very easy way out. Honi ko kaun taal sakta hai. (who can change one’s fate). Another way is ‘ I have done what is best, but there is another thing which is .....your Haath ka rekha/Taqdeer/ Horoscope. So many ways out. And the loser never revolts and thinks it is his Taqdeer (fate). In short the predictions of above propagandists are mostly unpredictable. If you study all the successful people you will find only a few successful persons who has become successful because they were one out of 1000 (as in the above lottery principle) and the propagandists will always advertise them as heroes and the losers are then lost in the dustbin of history. But in reality majority of successful ones are successful by dint of their hard work and intelligence. Rtn. Pawan Kumar Golchha (Written about 15 years back) Page 22
