DUNES INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Volume 5, Issue 3 ACADEMIC SESSION 2019-2020 27th—31st October 2019 Glimpse of the week Reminder * Diwali * Exhibition * * Parent– teacher Conference  Students should come in proper school uni- form  Those who have not enrolled for “Friendship at its best” to give their names and submit the amount by Sunday . Kindly refer the circular for the details.  Prepare well for the English weekly test which will be conducted on Sunday Diwali meaning\" row of lights\" is celebrated to honor the victory of good over evil and brightness over darkness. A five day festival is celebrated with full of joy and prayers are offered for the welfare, prosperity, wealth and wisdom. It is a time for introspection, to contemplate and dispel our own darkness and person- al demons. Let light shine within yourself, and also shine this light outwards.

DUNES XPRESSION!- “The Learning Footprint” Learning becomes eternal when there is engagement, collaboration and participation. DUNES XPRES- SION- the learning footprint, an exhibition aimed to boost students’ critical thinking, communication and collaboration was organized on the 30th of October, 2019. It’s cross curricular link made it a memorable event for the students. The “GLOBE THEATRE” exhibited Shakespeare’s renowned plays; King Lear, Othello, Macbeth and Julius Caesar which took the visitors on a journey back to the 16th and 17th Centuries. Islamic education, SST and Arabic mingled together with their astounding idea of Quranic Garden where they explained each exhibit with a background from Quranic revelation. With the motive of popularizing science and increasing awareness among stakeholders about close relationship between Science, Technology and Society, the students exhibited their practical skills on the theme “I Spy Science”. Students explored fun of science using common kitchen chemicals there- by gaining an insight on entrepreneurship skills. They used magic chemistry to make the audience think about scientific concepts. The Math hall came up with an innovative idea where they shared the tips of Vedic Math and the way of remembering the trigonometric values using palm. They enjoyed solving puzzles and made math learning fun to the visitors. Overall the exhibition was a treat to watch for the visitors and productive learning experience for the students.

The students of grade 3B con- ducted the assembly on Hones- ty. They conveyed the message about being honest to our self first and then to other by a skit. They are also sang a song on honesty.

The purpose of the parent/teacher conference is to clearly communicate the student's progress in school, and in the case of a student who is having difficulty, to enlist the parents' cooperation in the effort to remediate any prob- lems.

To make students aware of the feelings in the body and to how to identify the good touch and the bad touch , a session was conducted by our school counsellor. Students were briefed how to be away from the strangers and to identify their touch.

Environmental influence can be powerful. Nurturing environments foster physical and psychological growth. The students of grade 3 were given an activity on how UAE shows respect to the citizens. The students learnt to understand the influence e and justify their experience.

A mind map is a diagram used to visually organize information. It is often created around a single concept, drawn as an image in the center of a blank page, to which associated representations of ideas such as images, words and parts of words are added. This time the topic was- ‘How fruits and vegetables are important for us.’ Students expressed their views, opinion,

Writing Skill– Activity The students drew pictures of the daily routine and wrote sentences describing these pictures. In this activity, students learned how to write about their daily routine.

ART—Creative lettering Students of Grade 3 applied the knowledge of alpha- bets for creative writing, by writing alphabets of English and Arabic in a creative artistic manner. ART– That soothens our mind

Social Studies – Extensional Activity SOAP SCULPTURE For the students, it was a perfect collaborative activity and they enjoyed the art of carving and making a sculpture. They shared their experience and learned how much is the effort behind making a sculpture.

Students of grade 3 did an activity based on water cycle. By doing this activity they have learnt that the water cycle is extremely important process because it ensures the availability of water for all living organisms and regulates weather patterns on our planet. If water didn't naturally re- cycle itself, we would run out of clean water, which is essential to life. They understood water can exist in three basic forms and it continuously changes states, but the amount of water on Earth remains the same.

Students of grade 3,4,5 practice Asset questions daily in school in an infor- mal means by giving answer to the questions in a sticky note or by passing infor- mation mouth to mouth.

Morning assemblies are a very important part in a student’s life. Students learn actions to go along with the song, which gives a sense of happiness and excitement to start the day. Singing boosts confidence and dancing keeps one active and fit.
