“Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try” The ‘Knit-a-thon’ was an initiative by the UAE women aimed at breaking the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest blanket and setting an unprecedented record for the maximum knitted hearts to be dismantled and distributed to 3200 underprivileged children worldwide. Dunes International School contributed immensely to this noble cause at making the initiative a GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for the maximum knitted hearts with 3200 blankets totaling 3100sqm. The school would like to thank the whole hearted contribution of the parents, students and staff in making it happened. Parcicipants were honoured during the assembly.
ASSET is a skill based test that measures student’s conceptual understanding, benchmarks school’s performance at an international, national & regional level with actionable insights through easy-to- understand reports. ASSET exams for Math and English was conducted for the students of grade 3 to 5 on 15-01-2020 and 16-01-2020 respective- ly. It helped them to identify their capabil- ity and real potential that can help them to overcome future obstacles in life and sur- vive better in today’s modern competitive world. They also motivated students to aspire for better and deeper grasp of math concept so as to enhance their reasoning, analytical and problem solving skills.

Discussion can be an effective way for stu- dents to engage with core concepts, apply them and to enhance their problem-solving skills. It promotes teamwork, elicits higher order thinking, and is especially applicable when a subject is complex or open-ended. Communication skills of students develop as they express themselves, state their ideas in a clear manner, and listen to the views of oth- ers. Students of grade 3 generate their own ideas, contributing explicitly to their own and others’ learning. Also, it draws out multiple explanations, enabling students to ask ques- tions they may not have asked if they were working individually and deepens their under- standing.
ASSET measures how well a student has understood concepts and gives detailed feedback on the same, to help them improve. The students were given questions for practicing for ASSET Exam. Questions are trickier and conceptual which require the students to have a wide thought process to solve the variety of problems based on logics and concepts. They were given time limit for discussion and solving of the questions. These challenging questions put up for the students helped them to enhance their critical and problem-solving skills. They got a clear idea of what was coming for the exam and were well-prepared.
Role play Role-play is any speaking activi- ty when you either put yourself into somebody else's shoes, or when you stay in your own shoes but put yourself into an imagi- nary situation! Grade 3c students used an imaginary situation on functional language for a multi- tude of scenarios which activated and practiced through role-play.
Debates as an activity, help reach multiple classroom objectives: they not only practice speaking and listen- ing skills, but also motivate students, develop their argumentation strategies, critical thinking and en- courage independent learning. Grade 3 Students learned the subtopic mass media by conducting a de- bate on the topic advantages and disadvantages of internet. It was a new experience as they learned how to debate on a topic if there is a difference of opinion.
The students were assigned to draw pictures of Eid to show the true essence and significance of the festival. Students drew some pictures of Eid that express joy and happiness. Students learnt how to celebrate the festival and how to greet their friend. They enjoyed doing the activity along with their classmates and friends. This activity helped them to learn the values of collaboration, hardwork and team- work.

The Students displayed these skills and also their dexterity in paper folding to present superlative Origami compositions to mark the Republic day encompassing a vibrant display of colours, festivity and nationalism which also uplifted the spirit of true patriotism among the students.
